Chapter 2720: Chapter 1839: Conscription (It’s Almost Time for Short Sleeves)

The scene before them left the three flight attendants dumbfounded, hardly able to believe their eyes.

Clearly, the man had just shown symptoms and was about to turn into a zombie, but now he was alive again?

What on earth is going on?

"Change your clothes and come with me."

Duanmu Huai glanced at the four people, and the man only seemed to come to his senses at this moment. He looked at his body, surprised and bewildered. However, Duanmu Huai’s oppressing voice still made him shudder a bit, then obediently stand up.

At that moment, Duanmu Huai received another report from Medea.

"Ah, master, I found some more survivors. It’s really a big harvest."

"Oh?"

Upon hearing Medea’s report, Duanmu Huai nodded in satisfaction.

"Very good, we’ll head over immediately."

"Roger."

Afterwards, Duanmu Huai and the others led four survivors out of the underground street and reached the surface from another side. Following the route Medea indicated, they quickly arrived at her location. There, Duanmu Huai saw a bus parked in the middle of the road, and Medea was sitting on her magic wand, circling the bus, surrounded by a huge pile of zombie corpses.

"Ah, master!"

Seeing Duanmu Huai and others, Medea raised her hand joyfully and waved vigorously.

"We’re here———!"

"Wait, don’t shout!"

Upon hearing the girl’s innocent shout, the survivors’ faces changed drastically. They knew that zombies were highly sensitive to sound, and Medea’s shout would surely draw all the surrounding zombies over!

"Ahhhh!!"

Sure enough, almost simultaneously, the distinct wails and screams of zombies echoed around them, followed by zombies pouring out from passages and doors, like fans crazed upon seeing their beloved star, they rushed towards them!

"We’re doomed, we’re dead!"

Seeing this scene before them, the passengers on the bus screamed in horror. From their perspective, there’s no way to escape from so many zombies; it was surely a dead end!

However, at that moment, Medea raised her hand, and a giant magic circle appeared overhead. Countless magic beams rained down like a torrential downpour, shattering all the zombies into pieces.

"............"

Not only were the survivors on the bus speechless and dumbfounded, but even the four survivors following Duanmu Huai were the same. They stared ahead with wide eyes, almost questioning if they were dreaming—this must be a dream, otherwise why would there be such unreasonable things?

"......Expelling Undead is ineffective......"

Mary also lowered her wand, frowning with confusion.

"Why, aren’t these all zombies?"

"Because they’re different from the corpses of the Faelun World; they aren’t driven by negative energy. In fact, strictly speaking, they’re not even corpses, but living people."

Duanmu Huai was indifferent, since this was common knowledge for players.

Although they all appeared to be zombies, Corrupted Foil’s zombies and a Necromancer’s zombies were indeed different.

Saying this, the group moved to the front of the bus. At this moment, the passengers were also huddled inside, watching Duanmu Huai and his group with suspicion and anxiety. It’s no wonder they felt this way—after all, the city had turned into such a mess; everyone was either busy surviving or mentally strained. In contrast, Duanmu Huai and the girl beside him seemed completely unconcerned, as if they were just casually strolling down the street.

Duanmu Huai then stared at the people in the bus and signaled them.

"You, get off the bus."

"..............."

The group obediently disembarked, nervously standing in line.

"Report your status, civilians, where are you from?"

"W-We are........."

Faced with Duanmu Huai’s inquiry, the uniformed leader hesitated for a moment but eventually stammered out his ordeal. They, like the four survivors, were trapped in the building when the virus broke out. However, because there were many people, their food supply was running low after so many days. Hence, the driver remembered a bus nearby and intended to evacuate everyone out of the city.

Although they started smoothly, they found themselves blocked when they got here, and the zombies attracted by the engine noise had run over. If it wasn’t for Medea suddenly descending from above and eliminating those zombies, they would have been trapped inside the bus by now.

"I see."

After hearing the driver’s explanation, Duanmu Huai nodded and then made a gesture.

"You, come with me."

"Wait a minute."

At that moment, a short-haired woman stepped out from the passengers. She was in sportswear and her gaze was sharp. Now, the short-haired woman stared at Duanmu Huai, frowned, and questioned.

"Who exactly are you people? Why are you rescuing us?"

"I am the Big Judge of the Tribunal, Duanmu Huai."

Duanmu Huai replied.

"They are my direct subordinates, and you... have already been recruited by me."

"Re-Recruited?"

"That’s right. From now on, you’re my subordinates, and frankly speaking, you are now equivalent to soldiers."
