Chapter 69: Ambushed in the Black Fox Cave
Bai He made a teasing face at Fourth Elder Gu He. "Are you going back to claim credit from the Sect Master?"
"Bai He!"
"Forget it, you can have all the credit. I don’t want it."
Gu He gave Bai He a speechless look.
"When will you ever grow up a bit? I can’t trust leaving this bottle with you. Everyone, go back and tidy up. Once we’re done, we’ll head back."
"Yes!"
After everyone dispersed, the room was left with only Bai He.
There wasn’t much to tidy, so he finished quickly.
The remaining time was for waiting.
"Host, we’re all about to leave. Why do you seem unhappy?"
"My eyelid... it keeps twitching, over and over. I just have a feeling something is about to happen."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the window suddenly opened.
Bai He hadn’t reacted in time and before him was complete darkness, he couldn’t see a thing.
...
Ye Shiyuan finished packing and came to Bai He’s room, only to find that Bai He was nowhere to be seen.
"Master, Master."
He called twice and glancing at the open window.
The wind blew in from outside.
He furrowed his brows.
Where had Bai He gone?
Just as he was about to leave, it felt like he had stepped on something.
When he looking down, it was Bai He’s belongings.
It was pouch he had always kept with him. It’s decorated with the patterns he liked.
Ye Shiyuan immediately sensed that something was wrong and quickly rushed outside.
Everyone else had finished packing and were waiting for Bai He and Ye Shiyuan, but they saw only Ye Shiyuan alone.
"Fourth Elder, the Master is gone."
"Gone? At a time like this, where could he possibly have gone?"
Gu He still hadn’t realized the seriousness of the situation.
Based on Bai He’s usual impulsive personality, he figured he must have thought of some fun place and snuck out on his own.
Truly, he was giving them a lot of worry.
"The Master’s room window was open, and I also found this on the ground. Fourth Elder, the Master would not disappear without reason. I ask that you find the Master."
Gu He’s expression grew slightly more serious. Yet the fox demon had to be delivered to the Demon Cave within three days.
"Gu Wenyuan, you and Shiyuan stay behind. Keep in constant contact with me. When I return, if Junior Brother has not been found, I will come immediately. The rest, return with me at once."
"Yes."
Gu He issued the orders and everyone had no choice but to follow him and leave, leaving only Gu He’s disciple, Gu Wenyuan, behind.
At this point, Bai He’s whereabouts were completely unknown.
The only clue could possibly be in Bai He’s room.
Gu Wenyuan and Ye Shiyuan returned to Bai He’s room.
Gu Wenyuan was extremely skilled at searching, which was the main reason Gu He had left him behind.
Finally, he noticed a streak of black along the edge of the window. "Shiyuan, look at this."
"This is..."
"I think Little Elder Bai might have been taken away by someone from the demon clan."
Demon clan?
Could it be related to that fox demon?
...
Bai He groggily opened his eyes.
The surroundings were pitch black and he could see nothing at all.
Mo Zhu blended almost perfectly into the darkness.
"Host, how do you feel?"
"Where are you? I can’t see you."
Mo Zhu was speechless.
He activated night vision for Bai He, so at least he could see the environment he was in.
Bai He glanced once and then he immediately shut his eyes again.
It would have been better to see nothing at all.
Bones were scattered haphazardly across the floor.
On the walls, patterns were carved, each grotesque and clawing, far beyond what any human could craft.
"Mo Zhu, exactly where am I?"
"Host, according to the system, this is a cave. It is the lair of a demon called the Black Fox."
Bai He tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Black Fox?"
"Yes, Host!"
Bai He wanted to cry.
He had only just captured one fox and now there was another fox demon.
"There are two demons here? Why didn’t you say so earlier?"
"Host, I think it is because the aura of that great demon is too strong that it’s suppressing the aura of this fox demon."
Such a possibility was not impossible.
Suddenly, the entire fox demon cave was illuminated.
A stunning beauty in a black velvet robe appeared before Bai He.
Not only that, but beside her stood another person.
This was...
"Pan Yi."
"Little Elder Bai, you still remember me!"
"Hadn’t we just met? Didn’t you follow Fourth Senior Brother back?" Bai He paused for a moment, then slowly said, "Puppet Technique."
"Little Elder Bai is still clever, knowing that I specialize in Puppet Technique! That’s right. The one who went back with Fourth Elder was my puppet. My puppet can last for four hours. By then, Little Elder Bai, there might not even be a skeleton left."
Bai He swallowed his saliva nervously and his heart began to beat faster.
This was bad.
Pan Yi was definitely here to take revenge on him.
He was innocent, could he possibly be spared?
"Pan Yi, we can talk this out. Just release me first, I promise that absolutely no one will ever know about this!"
Pan Yi found Bai He’s words incredibly laughable. "Little Elder Bai, do you really think I would believe you? If it weren’t for you, Ye Shiyuan would have left the Lingguang Sect long ago. If it weren’t for your master, how could it have come to this with me?"
Bai He was speechless.
Wasn’t this Pan Yi’s own problem?
Why blame him?
If Pan Yi had been strong enough, how could he have ended up like this—lazy, unskilled, wasting his days?
That wasn’t his fault.
"Black Fox, this is an elder of our Lingguang Sect, my Little Elder Bai! If you eat him, I guarantee, you’ll immediately become a Great Demon."
