Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Zhang Xiaomei’s Jealousy
Lu Feng helplessly explained to Lu Chen. "I’ll walk slowly, it’s fine, don’t tell her."
Lu Chen’s eyes widened in shock, disapprovingly looking at Lu Feng. "That’s not okay, Mrs. Fu said we shouldn’t lie, and we certainly shouldn’t deceive her! Mr. Lu, don’t get me in trouble!"
"What’s going on?" Fu Xiaoxiao yawned as she walked out of the room and saw Lu Feng standing in the yard, frowning. "Why did you come out? Hurry back to the room and lie down."
Weren’t we agreed on "lying" down for seven more days? Appearing in front of others now would expose the charade, wouldn’t it?
Lu Feng helplessly looked at the kitchen only a few steps away, then turned back to the room.
"Mr. Lu, please don’t do that again! How can you be so disobedient when you’re sick? If I hadn’t seen you this time, would you have run out again? Last time you did the same..." Lu Chen ran to Lu Feng’s side, repeatedly reminding him.
Fu Xiaoxiao thought the task suited Lu Chen, seeing him taking it seriously like a little steward.
Interrupted from her drowsiness, Fu Xiaoxiao decided not to go back to sleep. She walked to the kitchen and only remembered what she forgot when she saw that the noodles cooked for Lu Feng had clumped together...
"Oh, I forgot about the boss’s noodles." Fu Xiaoxiao patted her forehead, realizing that Lu Feng had come to the kitchen for breakfast.
Seeing the noodles clumped into a paste, Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled and quickly cooked a fresh bowl for Lu Feng, bringing it to the room.
"Sorry, I was drowsy and forgot your breakfast." Fu Xiaoxiao entered the room, seeing Lu Feng looking at the scenery on an empty stomach.
"It’s okay." Lu Feng turned around at the smell, seeing Fu Xiaoxiao holding a large bowl of noodles. The aroma dispelled the gloom in his heart.
"Hurry up and eat! Otherwise, the noodles will clump again." Fu Xiaoxiao placed the bowl on the table, smiling at Lu Feng.
"I could eat the clumped one." Lu Feng looked at Fu Xiaoxiao; he didn’t mind.
"Hurry up and eat! I gave the clumped one to the little wolf. You wouldn’t fight the little wolf for food, would you?" Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled; he wanted to eat it, but she had already given it to the little wolf!
The little wolf, tasting noodles for the first time, was currently gobbling them down. It would probably finish soon.
"..." Lu Feng took his bowl of noodles, preventing it from being unavailable later.
Fu Xiaoxiao left the room, and Lu Chen was obediently continuing his new assignment of practicing drawing circles.
Meanwhile, the little wolf was still focused on its noodles. Seeing the bowl almost empty, Fu Xiaoxiao picked up the remaining half of the noodles and walked to it.
The little wolf sensed Fu Xiaoxiao’s approach and surprisingly paused its eating, sitting obediently nearby.
Fu Xiaoxiao was stunned. She thought it would guard its food, but its reaction was unexpected.
"Aw." The little wolf seemed to recognize Fu Xiaoxiao, wagging its low tail.
Fu Xiaoxiao smiled, pouring the rest of the noodles into its bowl, and gently rubbed its little head. "Don’t overeat and stuff your belly; save some for dinner."
"Aw!" The little wolf responded loudly, and Fu Xiaoxiao squatted beside it, signaling it to come over to eat.
Instead, the little wolf raised its head, looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, then raised its injured hind leg, slowly walking back to its nest to rest.
Now Fu Xiaoxiao was sure it really understood.
It actually didn’t eat it, saving it for the evening.
It was the first time she had seen such a smart wolf.
Fu Xiaoxiao patted her leg and stood up, preparing to go to the backyard to pick some vegetables and prepare lunch.
As she just stepped out the door, she saw a figure moving around her doorstep.
"Who are you?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked, looking at the unfamiliar man in military uniform, whom she hadn’t seen before.
"Hello, I’m Wang Wenqiang. Is Lu Feng home?" Wang Wenqiang looked surprised at Fu Xiaoxiao, not expecting Lu Feng’s wife to be so beautiful.
"Hello, Lu Feng is not quite able to come out right now. Doctor Xu said his condition isn’t great, but you can go in and see him." Fu Xiaoxiao remembered Lu Feng’s words. Lu Feng definitely couldn’t appear in public now; although she wasn’t sure if the person in front of her was trustworthy, it didn’t hurt to be cautious.
"Is he seriously injured?" Wang Wenqiang asked, looking worried.
"Dr. Xu came yesterday and said it’s more serious than expected. He needs to rest for seven more days." Fu Xiaoxiao sighed, her face full of worry.
"Then I won’t disturb his rest. I’ll come back to see him when he’s better." Wang Wenqiang withdrew his gaze. Hearing about Lu Feng’s poor condition, he didn’t disturb him further and turned to leave.
Shortly after Wang Wenqiang left, Sister-in-law Liu popped her head out and waved to Fu Xiaoxiao.
"Xiaoxiao, you’d better not hang out with Wang Wenqiang. Xiao Mei is quite the jealous type." Sister-in-law Liu cautiously advised.
"Really? We were just having a casual chat; there’s no need for jealousy, is there?" Fu Xiaoxiao paused, a bit amused.
"You don’t understand, do you? They just got married, and it’s their honeymoon phase. Young wives tend to be quite dramatic now. You’re pretty, and Xiao Mei’s as dark as coal. There’s no comparison; if she finds out, she’ll definitely imagine things. She keeps a close eye on Wang Wenqiang." Sister-in-law Liu saw that Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t understand and kindly taught her.
"I get it. I’ll keep my distance from him next time." Fu Xiaoxiao nodded in agreement.
"What are you guys talking about?" Zhang Xiaomei curiously approached Fu Xiaoxiao and Sister-in-law Liu.
"Oh no, my dish is burning." Sister-in-law Liu glanced at Zhang Xiaomei and, with an exclamation, used the excuse of her burning dish to escape.
Leaving Fu Xiaoxiao and Zhang Xiaomei behind.
"I just saw you talking to my Wenqiang. What were you two talking about?" Before Fu Xiaoxiao could reply, she heard Zhang Xiaomei’s question.
"He was asking about Lu Feng’s condition. Dr. Xu came yesterday and said Lu Feng isn’t doing well and needs a few more days of recovery." Fu Xiaoxiao sighed, her worried expression dispelling Zhang Xiaomei’s suspicion.
"He’ll definitely get better, don’t worry." Having gotten the answer she wanted, Zhang Xiaomei finally smiled.
"Are you that worried about him talking to other women?" Fu Xiaoxiao noted she was indeed like Sister-in-law Liu had mentioned.
"Wenqiang is so great, I definitely need to keep an eye on him! You’ve just gotten married; let me tell you, men must be watched closely. You can’t give them any space." Zhang Xiaomei advised Fu Xiaoxiao with a look of experience.
"This is the army; there’s no one other than family, right?" Fu Xiaoxiao remarked amusedly. This is the army; who would try to seduce her man?
"You really don’t know. Every year, the art troupe comes to perform, and those girls are young and pretty, plus they can sing and dance. Which man doesn’t like that? They too are looking for partners, and in past years, your Lu Feng had the most female comrades around him. You should be vigilant!" Zhang Xiaomei shook her head, disappointed at Fu Xiaoxiao’s lack of understanding.
