Chapter 194: Chapter 194: A Fiancée Suddenly Appears?

Fu Xiaoxiao teased the young couple and was then attracted by the performing arts troupe rehearsing.

Wang Lu smiled and introduced them.

"Sister-in-law, this is the third program, ’Red Detachment of Women’."

Fu Xiaoxiao nodded, watching the stage where the female soldiers of the troupe were impressively attired, marching out one by one to the beat of ’Red Detachment of Women’.

Their uniforms were starched straight, short hair cut neatly under wide-brimmed hats, and their canteens swayed lightly at their waists with each leap, the metal clasps producing fine, crisp sounds.

Powder dusted their faces, but their cheeks blushed naturally from long rehearsals.

"They look really beautiful." Lin Qiu looked at the radiant female soldiers, feeling a bit inferior.

"You’re not bad looking either!" Fu Xiaoxiao disagreed upon hearing Lin Qiu’s words. "You’ve just been dehydrated for too long, exposed to the sun and rain, making your skin rough. Keep taking care of it as I taught you, and I guarantee you’ll be beautiful."

Lin Qiu and Lin Xue always looked alike. Lin Xue was well-protected by Lin Qiu, bearing a delicate, demure appearance.

Lin Qiu, being her twin, certainly wasn’t any less attractive, only looking aged due to neglect and dehydrated skin.

"Really? Then I’ll make sure to take good care of it when I get back." Lin Qiu nodded, feeling much better after hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s words.

Having watched the rehearsal for a while, Wang Lu arranged seats for them, and Fu Xiaoxiao and the others decided to sit and wait for the performance to start.

Fu Xiaoxiao watched the female soldiers onstage, noticing the leading female soldier repeatedly glancing at Lu Feng. Although Lu Feng didn’t respond, it was clear she was overly interested in him.

Fu Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow, her gaze flitting between the two.

However, since the female soldier only stared at Lu Feng without doing anything, Fu Xiaoxiao couldn’t say anything about it.

"I’m going to the bathroom," Fu Xiaoxiao said to Lu Feng.

"Sister-in-law, there’s one right behind the stage, just go through the stage," Wang Lu quickly directed Fu Xiaoxiao.

"Okay." Fu Xiaoxiao nodded, getting up and walking towards the stage.

Lifting the curtain to the backstage, she saw the female soldiers who had just finished rehearsing pause at her appearance, the leading female soldier stepping forward to approach Fu Xiaoxiao.

"What’s your relationship with Lu Feng?" The female soldier began sharply.

She resembled someone who had caught her husband having an affair, while Fu Xiaoxiao—was the ’mistress’ being caught.

"In what capacity are you asking?" Fu Xiaoxiao looked at the female soldier before her, maintaining a polite smile.

"Our Xiao Mei is Lu Feng’s fiancée, of course, she has the right to ask you," another female soldier defended.

They looked at Fu Xiaoxiao as if she was the third party intruding between her and Lu Feng.

"I haven’t heard that Lu Feng has a fiancée." Fu Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow, finding their claim outrageous. "When I met him, there were no women around, and he never mentioned your existence."

"Impossible, I just received a letter from him yesterday, looking forward to seeing me!" Xiao Mei, full of anger, refused to believe Fu Xiaoxiao was telling the truth.

"Yesterday the man was still sweet-talking Xiao Mei, saying he wanted to marry her," the female soldier beside Xiao Mei said angrily, as witnesses to their love.

"Yes! We saw the letter too, saying he longed to see Xiao Mei, wishing to court with marriage in mind, proposing when the time was right," another soldier added, supporting distraught Xiao Mei.

Upon hearing this, Fu Xiaoxiao scratched her head. "Are you saying Lu Feng was corresponding with you yesterday, setting up a meeting today?"

"Exactly! If you don’t believe me, look! The letter is right here!" Xiao Mei immediately took out the letter ’Lu Feng’ wrote her from her pocket.

Fu Xiaoxiao took the letter, reading it carefully.

The man in the letter was gentle and caring, dreaming about their future together, even calling Xiao Mei ’my treasure’.

After reading, Fu Xiaoxiao gave Xiao Mei a complex look.

Without reading the letter, she would not have believed it; having read it, she was convinced Xiao Mei was fooled, the man in the letter being someone else entirely.

If Lu Feng were so greasy, she’d have rendered him into oil long ago.

That man would only corner her, pressing her for relentless kisses, like a hungry wolf.

Moreover, she’d seen Lu Feng’s handwriting, marked by aloofness and sharp strokes.

This rounded script clearly wasn’t his.

"What? You still don’t believe?" Xiao Mei saw Fu Xiaoxiao looking at her like that, thinking she still doubted her.

"Why don’t you go find him then?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked Xiao Mei, with Lu Feng right below the stage, a simple call would bring him over.

"I was planning to find him after the performance, but you..." Xiao Mei had intended to seek Lu Feng after the show, but Fu Xiaoxiao appeared just then.

"Isn’t this a great opportunity? Are you too embarrassed to call?" Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Xiao Mei’s blushing face, turned to the curtain, and shouted towards Lu Feng.

"Lu Feng, come here!"

Hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s heated shout, Lu Feng paused, and Lu Chen, who was playing on his lap, immediately jumped into Lin Xue’s arms nearby.

Lu Feng paused and got up to head backstage, with Wang Lu hurriedly following, fearing something might happen.

Pulling the curtain aside, Lu Feng’s face loomed large before the female soldiers, Xiao Mei blushing further upon seeing him, her heart racing for her beloved.

"Wife, what’s wrong? Who upset you?" Lu Feng ignored Xiao Mei, walking straight to Fu Xiaoxiao, taking her hand gently and asking softly.

Hearing Lu Feng call Fu Xiaoxiao ’wife’, all the female soldiers’ expressions changed dramatically.

"Lu Feng, you heartless man, are you toying with our Xiao Mei’s feelings?"

"We thought you were a real man, never expected you’d be like this!"

"This is too much, how could you treat Xiao Mei like this?"

"How can you do this, it’s impossible!"

"You’ve been corresponding for two years, was it all false..." A group of female soldiers erupted like firecrackers, angrily accusing Lu Feng of heartlessness.

"Are you mistaken? Whose heart did I break?" Lu Feng, inexplicably scolded, frowned and asked the female soldiers before him.

"You’re denying it? You agreed to be a revolutionary partner with Xiao Mei yesterday, yet today you call another woman ’wife’!" Xiao Mei’s accompanying soldier shouted angrily.

"She has always been my wife, I’ve never written to anyone else, let alone seen anyone named Xiao Mei." Lu Feng frowned, bewildered by the inexplicable accusations.

"Yes, I can attest to that; I helped send all of Lu Tuan’s letters, and he never sent one to any Xiao Mei." Wang Lu, standing by, quickly stood between them, explaining for Lu Feng.

"Then who has been sending letters to our Xiao Mei?" Someone noticed the inconsistency and asked.
