Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Rescue Mission Leads to My Own Wife

The crowd listened to the sounds, immediately recognizing them as trained individuals, each overjoyed.

"The rescue team is here." Someone couldn’t help but shout excitedly.

A man with a straight posture, wearing a thick army green cotton coat, with red shoulder patches, stood out in the vast white snow world. He led the simply dressed rescue team behind him, determinedly advancing toward the village.

With every step he took, it kicked up a large spray of snow, but nothing stopped their progress.

Lu Feng’s gaze swept over the dilapidated houses, noticing no signs of life in each home, his eyes fixed on the blue-brick temple in the center of the village.

"It’s the People’s Liberation Army!"

The villagers burst into cheers, running out one after another, eyes lit with the glow of hope.

"This is great, the PLA has come to save us."

"The People’s Army is truly wonderful, braving the ice and snow to help us without fear of hardship!"

The villagers were overjoyed, watching Lu Feng lead a team towards them, standing at the door and waving to them.

Lu Feng and his team arrived at the temple entrance, seeing the village chief excitedly coming out to meet them.

"Comrades of the PLA, you are truly our saviors, in this ice and snow, thanks to you!"

"No need to thank us, folks, is there anyone injured?" Lu Feng nodded to everyone, asking if anyone needed help, checking if anyone was trapped under a house. "Everyone, don’t panic! We’re here to rescue you, just let us know if you need anything."

"No, no, we’re all fine! When the snow started, the village chief had us gather in the temple, so no one was trapped. It’s just unfortunate that the houses were damaged." The villagers quickly responded.

"That’s good to hear." Lu Feng nodded.

"Comrade of the PLA, please save our house, the snow is about to collapse the roof!" An old man rushed to Lu Feng, tightly gripping his arm, eyes full of pleading.

"Don’t worry, we’re here to help you." Lu Feng reassured the old man.

At the same time, he calmly directed the team to divide the tasks, having the soldiers prepare to repair the houses.

Just then, as Lu Feng unintentionally glanced up, he locked eyes with Fu Xiaoxiao through the bustling crowd.

Their gazes met in the air, and time seemed to momentarily stand still.

As if noticing the unusualness from Lu Feng, the crowd quieted down.

Lu Feng walked toward Fu Xiaoxiao, and the villagers hurriedly made way, watching as Lu Feng walked straight to Fu Xiaoxiao.

"Xiao Xiao, what are you doing here? You’re not hurt, are you?" Lu Feng looked nervously at Fu Xiaoxiao, not expecting to meet her during the rescue mission.

Fu Xiaoxiao smiled gently and shook her head. "I’m fine, I was just bringing food to Xiao Lin when the snowstorm hit, I was worried about the danger on the road, so I stayed."

"Xiao Xiao, this is?" Aunt Zhang and others looked between Lu Feng and Fu Xiaoxiao, unable to resist asking.

"Auntie, this is my husband, Lu Feng." Fu Xiaoxiao graciously introduced Lu Feng’s identity to the crowd.

Fu Xiaoxiao’s declaration of "husband" was like a clap of thunder, instantly causing a stir among the villagers.

The villagers widened their eyes, faces full of surprise.

"How wonderful!" Aunt Wang and Aunt Zhang looked at Lu Feng with eyes sparkling, as if looking at their own son-in-law, after examining him, satisfiedly patted his shoulder.

"This is Aunt Wang and Aunt Zhang, they take great care of us." Fu Xiaoxiao introduced them with a smile as Lu Feng was stunned by the two aunts’ enthusiasm.

"Thank you for taking care of my wife and child." Lu Feng took off his hat, thanking the aunts.

"Oh dear! We’re family, no need to be so formal." The two aunts grinned widely, increasingly satisfied with Lu Feng.

"Please help me look after them while I go deal with the snow." Lu Feng nodded to the aunts, entrusting Fu Xiaoxiao to them.

"Hey! Wait." Fu Xiaoxiao called out to Lu Feng as he was about to leave.

Lu Feng stopped immediately, returning to Fu Xiaoxiao’s side.

Fu Xiaoxiao filled a bowl of ginger soup for Lu Feng, gesturing for him to drink it.

"Let everyone come in for a bowl later."

"Okay." Lu Feng smiled, ruffling her hair, finished the ginger soup in one go, and then walked out.

"There are so many comrades, this little bit surely isn’t enough, I’ll make more." Aunt Zhang, seeing the ginger soup almost gone, went straight to the small stove inside to continue boiling it.

When Lu Feng hurriedly left, the villagers’ gazes instantly fell on Fu Xiaoxiao like spotlights.

"Oh my, is that PLA comrade really your husband?" The villagers found it surprising too.

A few younger wives gathered around, eyes full of envy and curiosity. One of them held Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand, smiling teasingly.

"Dear sister, you really hid it well, we’ve never heard you mention your husband is such a dashing PLA soldier!"

The crowd chimed in with words full of praise and envy for Fu Xiaoxiao.

Especially the women, seeing Lu Feng tall and strong, with sharp brows and bright eyes, they couldn’t help but be envious.

Although they all knew Fu Xiaoxiao was a military wife, and that she had once put the Li Family in prison, only a small number had actually seen Lu Feng before.

Fu Xiaoxiao felt a bit embarrassed by everyone’s enthusiastic reaction, her cheeks slightly flushed, and she smiled gently.

"He’s busy in the army, rarely comes back, I didn’t expect him to lead the rescue this time."

"What you’re saying, soldiers are always busy, that’s normal, normal!" Aunt Wang patted Fu Xiaoxiao, laughing.

For a moment, the oppressive atmosphere covered by the blizzard had a bit more lively warmth.

The wild wind continued to rage, the blizzard cut like a sharp blade, painfully striking faces.

Lu Feng had already led the soldiers to the most severely damaged homes, rapidly dividing the work and cooperating.

The soldiers, agile and skilled, steadily set up each supporting beam.

Even though their hands were red and stiff from the cold, they were unaware, fully devoting themselves to the repair work.

"Everyone, put in some extra effort, we must finish repairing the houses before dark, so the villagers have a safe place to stay!" Lu Feng’s voice pierced through the wind and snow, shouting to them.

"Yes!" The soldiers responded in unison, full of vigor.

With their efforts, the precarious houses gradually became stable.

The villagers watched this scene, their eyes full of gratitude and admiration.

Someone, seeing their house rescued, couldn’t help but wipe tears, choking out.

"The PLA truly are our great benefactors, in such heavy snow, such dangerous work, they just do it without a word, in my heart, I really..."

As the house repairs steadily progressed, the villagers’ gratitude deepened.

The aunts trembled as they brought bowls of ginger soup to the resting soldiers, their voices slightly choked.

"Comrades, drink a bowl of ginger soup to warm up, you’ve been through so much for our houses!"

The soldiers quickly stood up, taking the ginger soup, blushing as they smiled shyly and repeatedly expressed their thanks.
