Chapter 2704: Chapter 2704: The Unfamiliar Dan Tingye (9)

"You scared me to death!"

Meimei scrambled up from the sofa and balled her fists, thumping his chest twice again.

Her lips were slightly parted, panting hard, her eyes a little red.

It wasn’t his fake injury that scared her, it was what he’d just said.

It had only been one day, but Tingye had turned weird, and now even Jiang Nan was like this. They really were going to scare her to death.

"Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Look at how timid you are, like this. How do you even take care of yourself out there?" Jiang Nan sat up from the sofa, caught sight of her pale little face, reached out to pinch her cheek, and joked.

In his eyes, his thoughts were quickly hidden away.

He flipped over and lay back down on the sofa. "I haven’t even had lunch before coming to see you. Can I apply for a bowl of pasta?"

"..."

Who comes to see a sick person and then makes the sick person wait on him?

And he could actually say it with a straight face!

Meimei grumbled inwardly. Looking at his tired face, she still got up from the sofa and walked toward the kitchen.

She hadn’t eaten either, so she might as well make him a bowl while she was at it.

Meimei walked into the kitchen and had just reached for a pot when she caught sight of the boiled ginger slices in the trash can, and her hand froze.

The scene from last night once again surged into her mind.

Imagining Dan Tingye standing in this exact spot, cooking ginger soup for her, Meimei’s face went a little pale, and her grip on the pot suddenly tightened.

"Stop overthinking."

Meimei lifted her head and knocked hard on her own forehead, forcing herself not to recall Dan Tingye’s gentle care. She made herself calm down and started to cook the pasta.

She moved quickly; in less than twenty minutes, two plates of fragrant pasta were ready.

Once they were plated, she carried them to the living room. "Jiang Nan, the pasta’s ready, you can eat."

She suddenly realized she hadn’t even brushed her teeth or washed her face.

Meimei pouted and went into the bathroom, planning to make it quick, but the moment she saw the mirror, she froze again.

Looking at her lips in the mirror, still not completely deflated from the swelling, she couldn’t help biting down on them, forcing herself not to look.

She quickly freshened up and walked back to the living room.

Jiang Nan moved fast; he was already sitting at the table, more than halfway through his bowl of pasta.

He wasn’t as particular about eating as Dan Tingye. His tall, lean body was slouched against the chair in a lazy posture, even the fork dangling from just two fingers as he twirled up a mouthful of pasta and casually popped it into his mouth.

It was clearly a very casual movement, yet when he did it, there was inexplicably a hint of roguishness to it.

"Why are you staring at me instead of eating? Did you realize I’m so good-looking I’m practically edible and now you wanna pounce on me?" Jiang Nan’s long, fox-like eyes narrowed as he blinked at Meimei, and while he was at it, he undid one of the buttons on his shirt collar, exposing his firm chest.

"Come on, I’m ready."

"..."

If she had a hot piece of iron in her hand, she’d definitely throw it right at his chest, let him keep using his good body as an excuse to mess with her.

Still, with him provoking her like this, it did make it a bit easier for her not to spiral into her own thoughts.

But not seeing Tingye during the day was one thing—what about at night?

He would come over for dinner after work. She was a little scared, scared of seeing him...

"Meimei, Meimei, what are you thinking about? You’re about to stir your pasta into mush. Are you going to eat it or not?" Jiang Nan pressed down on her hand, frowning as he looked at the perpetually absent-minded Meimei.

"What’s going on?"
