"No way." Meimei was taken aback for a moment before she stuttered out.

Her gaze was still fixed on Dan Tingye, who was sitting alone eating.

Even the way he ate was so attractive that it made people reluctant to look away.

Clearly, the food he was eating was similar to what was on her plate, yet his graceful dining always made one feel like his plate contained food specially prepared by a five-star chef.

His expression was always cold, seemingly difficult to approach, yet the way he quietly sat there eating made her feel a touch of loneliness in his figure.

Almost instinctively, she had a sudden urge to pick up her plate and go accompany him.

"Why did the president suddenly come here to eat?" Meimei tightened her grip on the chopsticks, asking out of instinct.

As her words dropped, everyone at the table turned to look at her, their eyes filled with surprise.

In the next second, they all turned to look at Secretary Lin; Li, being one of the veterans in the planning department, quickly spoke up.

"Secretary Lin, please don’t mind her. Yu Xin is new here, doesn’t know the rules, and is just very curious. Don’t take it to heart."

"Yes, yes, consider her words as if you didn’t hear them." Fang also hurriedly chimed in to smooth things over.

There is a rule in the company forbidding employees from discussing superiors behind their backs. Especially since Secretary Lin is trusted by Dan Tingye as much as Assistant Yao is, nobody dared to offend.

"It’s okay, it’s no big deal. Since the president came, he wouldn’t forbid everyone from talking." Secretary Lin glanced at Meimei, a slight smile appearing on her serious face.

Then, she turned her head to look at Dan Tingye eating alone, furrowing her brows slightly before speaking softly.

"Honestly, I don’t know either. The president decided on a whim to dine in the employee cafeteria. He seemed to be looking for someone but then sat down to eat."

Secretary Lin, being very meticulous, simply said a few words and then glanced at Meimei again before falling silent.

Yet her gaze always made Meimei feel like there was more to what she said.

Others might not know who she was, but she had gone to the president’s office so many times that Secretary Lin surely remembered her.

So, is what she said about Tingye coming to the cafeteria to find someone referring to her?

But he had already seen her earlier, and not only did he not come over to speak, he behaved like they were complete strangers, turning his head and simply leaving, making her worry for nothing.

If he wasn’t looking for her, then who was Tingye looking for?

Who could make him run here without even eating, with such a lonely expression...

Confused thoughts swirled in Meimei’s mind, making her face scrunch up in frustration, and eventually losing her appetite as she secretly watched Dan Tingye when others weren’t paying attention.

She watched as he finished everything on his plate, calmly picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth, and finally stood up from the table.

As he turned, his gaze landed firmly on her face, and as their eyes met, his deep black eyes made Meimei tense up instantly.

His eyes lingered on her face for less than three seconds before sweeping past her, walking toward the exit as if nothing had happened, and disappearing from her sight.

Meimei dumbfoundedly watched his figure, unaware of how she eventually left the cafeteria.

Back in the planning department, she was once again engulfed by the busy work.
