Chapter 2652: Chapter 2652: Who Dares Touch a Single Hair on Her Head? (Part 2)
"She must have slipped in while the guards weren’t paying attention. Hurry up and call someone to drag her out, don’t let some nobody drag down the class of this banquet."
"Yeah, if she still won’t make it clear who she is, have security take her away."
A woman in a pink tassel dress came over with a glass of champagne, sized Meimei up and down, and noticed not only was she dressed very plainly, even her face was unfamiliar. She was clearly not one of the well–born ladies they usually saw; the woman’s expression changed on the spot.
"I wasn’t deliberately eavesdropping, I was just passing by."
Meimei frowned slightly, looking at the few people who had started yelling at her the moment they came up, and explained softly.
She admitted that she’d been wrong to listen in on other people’s conversation just now, but they were talking in such a public place, she had only overheard them by accident.
The way they talked was really too nasty.
"Dressed like that, sneaking into the banquet to eavesdrop on people, and you still think you’re in the right?" The woman in the pink tassel dress took a few steps forward, her face fully exposed under the lights. Her exquisitely made–up features were filled with pride.
"With someone like you, what right do you have to attend a high–end banquet like this? Anyone here, picked at random, is a hundred times more noble than you."
"..."
Meimei’s gaze tightened, and she bit her lip lightly.
She turned her head to glance at the few people standing beside the woman in the pink tassel dress and found they all had the same expression. Every look they gave her was like they were looking at an ugly duckling, just waiting for her to make a fool of herself.
Off to the side, some waiters had already noticed the commotion here and called over security.
"Miss, I’m sorry, but you need an invitation to attend this banquet. I’d like to see your invitation." A security guard walked up to Meimei and asked, his tone a bit impatient.
Judging from his attitude, he’d also taken her for some random nobody who’d slipped into the banquet.
"If you’re going to check invitations, there are so many people here—why are you only checking mine?"
Meimei spoke calmly. Standing there, her thin figure looked a little fragile, her long hair left loose over her shoulders. Her small, palm–sized face was so beautiful she looked like a delicate porcelain doll. Even in simple clothes, there was an innate elegance about her.
Especially when she was angry—those clear, bright eyes only had to sweep over you once to make you shiver without knowing why.
The security guard hadn’t expected her to say that. He froze for a moment, then looked over at the few rich young ladies standing nearby.
Before he could speak, the woman in the pink tassel dress exploded.
"What, did you grow a dog’s gallbladder, that you dare check our invitations too? Isn’t this face of mine proof enough of who I am? If any of you dare piss me off, I’ll have Sir fire you all on the spot!"
"Please don’t be angry, Miss Yan, I wouldn’t dare." The guard hurried to apologize.
This little ancestor was a regular star at these banquets—Yan Yan, eldest daughter of the prominent Yan family in business. Her bad temper was famous; anyone who crossed her never came to a good end.
Seeing Yan Yan get angry, the guard’s attitude toward Meimei turned even nastier.
"Miss, if you still can’t show your invitation, I’m afraid we’ll have to ask you to leave."
"You hear that? If you don’t have an invitation, hurry up and get lost. A place like this isn’t somewhere a beggar like you can come into." Yan Yan flicked her freshly done nails with smug satisfaction and looked at Meimei with utter arrogance.
Seeing that pretty little face of hers, the jealousy in her eyes grew even more obvious.
