Chapter 62: Accidentally Running Into Leo
Chapter 62: Accidentally Running Into Leo
"Hey, Varen just said Raven’s group is most likely on the west side! Let’s go there!"
A group of people ran down a long hallway toward the west.
Not long after, another group appeared and ran in the same direction.
This wasn’t a one-time or two-time occurrence. It had become a common sight throughout various areas of the ancient site.
Raven, Reyna, and Claire emerged from behind a large pillar and watched them leave.
"Raven, it looks like the hunt has begun," Claire said.
Raven gave a slight nod.
"It’s okay. With the cloaks you and I are wearing, Varen won’t be able to find us," he said casually, showing not the slightest hint of fear. "Besides..."
He smiled faintly.
"No one has ever seen me or knows who I am. So I’m sure it’ll be nearly impossible for them to find us."
His words put Claire’s mind at ease.
But suddenly...
"Wait, don’t get too comfortable yet, Raven. Leo knows you and can recognize your face."
Raven: "..."
He tapped his forehead. He’d almost forgotten about that.
"But as long as we don’t run into him, we should be fine, right?" Claire said.
Reyna was silent for a moment before nodding in agreement.
"You’re right."
"Reyna! Is that you!?"
An excited voice suddenly called out from behind them.
Startled, the three of them turned around and saw Leo in the distance, walking toward them with a smile on his face.
"Damn it!" Raven cursed and quickly grabbed Claire’s hand. "Reyna, go with Leo. And remember, use the walkie-talkie I gave you to communicate with me."
Without saying another word, he pulled Claire away from the spot.
Reyna didn’t stop them.
Putting on a fake smile, she walked toward Leo and asked, "How did you end up here?"
Leo was overjoyed to see Reyna again.
"I just happened to be passing by and saw you by chance."
Of course, that was a lie. In fact, he had just met a mysterious old man who had directed him to where Reyna was.
But he wasn’t about to tell her about that.
"I see..."
Reyna simply nodded and said nothing more.
"By the way, I’m really impressed with you, Reyna," Leo said admiringly. "I checked the leaderboard and saw that our group is ranked 15th. Tch! You must have gone through a lot to achieve such a great ranking, right?"
He patted Reyna on the shoulder and smiled in awe.
"You’re amazing, Reyna."
Reyna quickly stepped back and coughed awkwardly.
"Thanks for the compliment. And yeah, I’ve definitely gone through a lot of challenges. Thankfully, our group managed to reach 15th place. As long as we make it to the end of the third mission, we won’t be eliminated and will be safe."
Leo was surprised when Reyna stepped away from him, but he didn’t think too much of it.
"By the way, have you heard about the plan for the first group’s hunt?" Leo asked, his expression turning serious.
Reyna raised her eyebrows slightly.
"I already know. I got the information from the administrator. Did you get it too?"
Leo nodded, folding his arms across his chest.
"The first group’s name is Raven. Could he be the man we met back then?"
Reyna’s heart raced. Her suspicions had been correct—Leo did remember Raven.
"This is dangerous," she whispered warily. "I have to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t run into Raven."
Composing herself, she feigned uncertainty.
"I’m not so sure. Maybe there’s someone else with the same name?"
Leo was silent for a moment before shaking his head.
"No, this time I’m absolutely certain."
His eyes shone with determination.
"The Raven group must be that man and the beautiful pink-haired woman beside him."
Reyna fell silent. It seemed impossible to deceive Leo.
"So, what are you going to do now? Are you going to join the hunt for them?"
Leo nodded without hesitation.
"Of course! I can’t miss out on the party, can I?"
He licked his upper lip, his face radiating excitement.
Aside from the points, he already hated Raven with a passion.
He didn’t know where that hatred came from, but just thinking about Raven made him feel like he wanted to vomit.
Reyna let out a small sigh. She’d already suspected this guy would join the hunt for Raven’s group.
Realizing there was no way to change the situation, Reyna finally decided to join as well.
"In that case, I’ll come along."
Leo’s eyes lit up when he heard her.
"Great! I knew you understood me best! Hahaha!"
Reyna rolled her eyes. She wasn’t joining to support Leo. She was joining to keep an eye on him.
At the very least, she could let Raven know Leo’s location so he wouldn’t run into him.
"Let’s go," Leo said.
Reyna nodded and followed behind him.
...
"This is the 400th one..."
Rose killed the fire tiger in front of her with her short sword.
Her beautiful face remained indifferent and emotionless.
She looked up and saw a dozen more fire tigers ready to pounce on her.
But before they could attack, Rose retreated to the back of the hall.
The ferocious tigers immediately lost their will to fight.
Rose fell backward, panting.
"This is so boring..."
She opened the leaderboard and saw the Raven group firmly at the top.
Eighty percent of their group’s contribution came from her.
The Hall of Fire she was currently in was a special hall located in a separate dimension from the ancient site.
That was why she couldn’t leave, and no one else could enter either.
"Huh..."
Rose let out a long sigh before lying down on the cold floor.
When she first arrived at this hall and understood how it worked, she immediately took advantage of it to earn a large number of points.
The fire tigers she killed could respawn indefinitely. Every time one died, two more would appear, and the number would keep increasing.
To keep their numbers from getting out of hand, Rose never killed more than five tigers within three hours.
There was also a cooldown period. During that time, any tigers that hadn’t been killed would disappear, returning the Hall of Fire to its original state with only five fire tigers left.
That was how she used the rules of the Hall of Fire to help the Raven team secure first place.
But after achieving her goal, she found herself in a dilemma.
She couldn’t leave until the third mission was complete, and with another four to six days left, she was starting to feel lonely.
"Huh... I have to kill those damn monsters again..."
Rose covered her face with her arms.
Just as she was wallowing in frustration, a mysterious panel suddenly appeared before her.
[Teleportation Invitation. Do you accept it?]
[Yes/No?]
