Chapter 1286: Preparing for the sect assessment

“They can’t give it to you now, but they’ll find some time to give it to you after the sect assessment.” The Poison King reported after he came back.

It would have been the Heavenly Demon who explained this, but he didn’t have the time to do so because he was caught up with the elders.

It was only natural that this would happen because of what he had announced.

All of them wanted a piece of the new arrays that would be created, so they would do what they could to try and convince the Heavenly Demon to give this to them.

“I left everything to the sect master to take care of.”

He didn’t have any shame at all when he said this.

It was clear that he was even a bit proud when he said this.

Instead of talking about this matter any longer, he said, “Anyway, you should focus on the sect assessment right now. This will help establish your reputation among the disciples that will make this decision easier.”

Then after a pause, he added, “After the sect assessment is when we’ll give you the Source Metal. Before that, we’ll still need it to maintain the special training ground to give those that participate in the sect assessment their reward.”

Lin Fan gave a nod since he understood where they were coming from.

He also knew what they meant by establishing his reputation among the disciples.

If they were to give the Source Metal to someone that was unknown, then it wasn’t as if the disciples would accept it that easily even if the elders accepted it. It was easier for the elders to accept it since they were far more knowledgeable and restrained.

For the younger generation that was more impulsive, it wouldn’t be as easy for them to accept if someone were to receive this Source Metal all of a sudden.

That was why Lin Fan had to establish himself first before that happened.

Once he said this, it seemed like there was nothing else that the Poison King had to say to them.

It wasn’t actually that he didn’t have anything to talk to them about, it was more that he had faith in Lin Fan to handle this matter and he didn’t need to say anything else.

Though when it came to Ye Qing Huan, it seemed like she was the kind to worry about these things as she suddenly took out several sheets of paper. The way that she took them all out showed that she had already prepared all of this ahead of time.

It wasn’t that she didn’t have any faith in Lin Fan, it was just that she was doing everything that she could to support him. She would make sure that he was fully prepared for this sect assessment.

Lin Fan couldn’t help revealing a faint smile when he saw her like this.

If this was before, she wouldn’t have offered all of this that easily.

If this was before, she would have teased him about this and would have made it hard for him before handing over this information. But this time, it seemed like she was fully supporting him with the way that she handed it over without a word.

Lin Fan knew what Ye Qing Huan wanted to accomplish with this, so he didn’t say anything as he took these pieces of paper.

They were reports on the ones that were considered outstanding in this sect assessment.

Though he couldn’t help revealing a faint smile when he read what she had written on each of their profiles.

It was clear that she didn’t have a high opinion of the ones that were favoured in this sect assessment, but that wasn’t strange seeing how strong they were. They were nothing more than inner sect disciples at most, so they really couldn’t compare to core disciples.

This was also the main reason that no core disciples participated in the sect assessment in the first place.

It simply wasn’t fair for those inner sect disciples.

Still, this was something that had to be done so that everyone would be able to recognize Lin Fan from now on. As such, he had no choice but to treat this as some kind of show and put them in their place even though he didn’t really want to.

After he finished reading all of this, Lin Fan just said, “Let me go and rest for a bit.”

Ye Qing Huan looked like she wanted to follow him, but she stopped herself in the end.

This was different from Dungeon City where Lin Fan was the one that was in control.

This was the Heavenly Demon Sect where there were eyes hiding around every corner, so it wasn’t as if she could do what she wanted here. Though in the first place, it wasn’t as if there would be that many people that dared to peek at her here in the first place.

Still it was best not to do anything that would be considered going too far right now.

Until the sect assessment was over, it was better to take things carefully.

Once Ye Qing Huan left, Lin Fan went into his room and focused on his dantian.

He had been holding it the entire time, but there was something that was coming from inside of him.

When he absorbed the Source Metal, there was a reaction that came from him that he had been hiding from everyone. He didn’t want them to find out since it was something that was quite hard to explain, but this feeling wasn’t that easy to hold in.

After all, it was the feeling of something expanding inside his dantian and pressing up against which made it hard for him.

It was the feeling of something wanting to break free.

When he was alone, that was when he finally released it.

Lin Fan didn’t even need to punch or do anything to draw on its power this time, it seemed to come out naturally when he raised a finger.

There was this small black hole that appeared at the tip of his finger when he did this.

This was different from just the simple absorption force that he controlled before, this time it formed a complete black hole.

With this black hole being formed, Lin Fan could feel the pressure subsiding inside of him. It was no longer pushing up against his dantian like it was before since he was able to release some of that force in the form of this black hole.

Once the black hole was formed, it seemed like it was pulling in everything that was around him. It seemed like it didn’t care what was there, it just wanted to pull things in as if it wanted to absorb energy from them.

It was a good thing that this range wasn’t that big or it would have been a problem.

Of course, this didn’t include his own body parts, so it wasn’t as if it was absorbing his finger as well.

If it was a force that even bit the hand that fed it, then it certainly wouldn’t be something that he would want to have.

Since it came from him, Lin Fan could tell that he was able to easily control it with a single thought. If he wanted, he could even throw out the black hole at something in the distance and it would maintain its power for a while.

Though after a while, it seemed like this thing would fade away as it got further away from him since it would move away from its source.

After thinking about it, Lin Fan picked out a small statue that was on one of the drawers and tossed the black hole at it.

When the black hole made contact with it, it seemed to rip apart the material that the small statue was made of. It seemed like it was going to swallow the entire statue with how it pulled that material apart.

But there was only a small hole that was created in the end.

It seemed that this black hole ran out of energy with how it collapsed in the end.

Lin Fan could tell that what the black hole absorbed was sent into his dantian and he absorbed it, but it wasn’t as if there was much to absorb in the first place. After all, this was just a small statue made of normal material.

But it was still exciting to see that his power was evolving.

With this new power, there would certainly be new ways to use the power of void in the future.

Of course, Lin Fan knew that the reason for this was all because of the Source Metal that he absorbed.

The Source Metal was something that was filled with pure elemental energy that was absorbed by his body. It was just like the other things inside of his dantian that went to strengthen the power of the black hole.

With this power, Lin Fan was even more confident about his performance in the sect assessment.

Though even without this, Lin Fan was still confident about how he would perform in the sect assessment.

“Let’s keep testing it out.”

Since he had the time, Lin Fan didn’t mind spending this time testing out this new power of his.

He wanted to see just what kind of different ways he would be able to use this void power.
