Chapter 1283: Source of the array

The Heavenly Demon and the Poison King didn’t waste any time in following Lin Fan to the special training grounds.

When he came back with the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King, the guards that had stopped Lin Fan before were even more terrified.

Since they were disciples of the Heavenly Demon Sect, it wasn’t as if they couldn’t recognize the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King. But if they didn’t recognize these two, they would have at least recognized their aura.

So there was no mistaking the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King.

The moment that they saw the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King, it seemed like they wanted to bow to them. But in the end, the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King stopped them before they could do that.

Even if they were the higher ups of the Heavenly Demon Sect, they didn’t really care about these things.

It was only those that didn’t know the two of them that would do something like this when meeting them for the first time.

After they recovered from the shock of meeting the Heavenly Demon and the Poison King, the two guards seemed to be suddenly filled with fear. They couldn’t help slowly looking over at Lin Fan as if they were afraid that he would do something.

Lin Fan couldn’t stop the bitter feeling from filling him as a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Did they really think that he was that petty of a person?

The Heavenly Demon and the Poison King looked at him as if they were amused by this, but eventually the Heavenly Demon said, “We’re planning on doing something here. Make sure to keep everyone away.”

The guards were surprised to hear this, but they knew what to do.

They knew that instead of asking questions, the only thing that they had to do was follow orders.

That was why they just gave a salute to the Heavenly Demon and returned to their position.

It wasn’t as if the Heavenly Demon really cared if these guards followed his orders or not. After all, the place that he was about to take them was a place that wasn’t accessible to normal people.

Even if they were to try something, it wasn’t as if they would be able to reach that place.

So without any hesitation, the Heavenly Demon led the way forward.

Though Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were surprised to find that he was leading them the same way as before. It seemed that the Heavenly Demon was taking them right to the same cave that Lin Fan had gone into previously.

Thinking about it, it wasn’t that surprising.

After all, that cave had the highest concentration of spiritual energy.

Since it was the place where the most spiritual energy was concentrated, it should be an array that was closest to the source of the spiritual energy.

Once they were there, the Heavenly Demon didn’t take them into the cave itself.

Rather, he brought them to what seemed to be a large rock that was jutting out of the ground. This large rock didn’t really seem that special with how it was just a random rock that was in the middle of nowhere.

Only this was the place that the Heavenly Demon brought them to.

After standing there for a bit, he suddenly took out a token that he raised in front of him. With the way that he was holding it, it was almost as if he was showing this token to the large rock that was in front of him.

If he hadn’t been the Heavenly Demon, one would have thought that he had gone crazy.

Though there was also a trace of doubt in the eyes of Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan as they stared at him.

After a while, there was a reaction that came from the rock.

It wasn’t that strong of a reaction, it was just that a portion of the rock moved aside and revealed a set of stairs that led down.

It seemed very simple for what it was, but Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan could tell that this wasn’t as simple as it seemed. It was harder for Lin Fan, but he was able to sense that there was something off about the token and the rock itself.

There was a kind of resonance between the two that allowed the rock to open up.

If he had to guess, Lin Fan would have guessed that there was some kind of array on both of these that caused this resonance.

These arrays were what allowed the door to open like this and reveal the stairs without a problem. If the door was forced open by something other than the array, then that was when problems happened.

After all, there was no doubt that a secret passage like this would be protected by something. So if someone tried to force it open, the only thing that would be waiting for them was a world of pain.

But then again, it wasn’t as if this place was a place that was quite well known so it wasn’t as if there would be people that would wander to this place.

Once the secret stairs opened, the Heavenly Demon waved his hand at the others to follow him. Though even if he didn’t lead the way, it wasn’t as if there was another place that they could go since there was only a single set of stairs.

They soon understood why the Heavenly Demon was leading the way.

Even though it seemed simple since there was only a single path down, it turned out that there were more and more branching paths that appeared.

During this time, the Heavenly Demon kept taking out the token from before to lead the way forward. It seemed that he was using the token to help guide him through this maze of paths.

After a while, they reached the end of this maze.

It was a room that seemed quite simple, but there was a lot of spiritual energy that was in this place.

But this wasn’t what Lin Fan noticed.

Rather, the thing that he paid attention to was the metal bar that was right in the center of this room. This metal bar was the center of this array and was the thing that was releasing the elemental energy into the different arrays all over the mountain.

That meant that this was the thing that Lin Fan came looking for, but that didn’t mean that he was able to take it.

After all, this thing was powering one of the most important things in the Heavenly Demon Sect and it would have been a problem if this thing were to suddenly go missing.

As such, there was something that he had to do before he could reach for it.

“I never thought that you would discover it that quickly. It’s not as if it’s a big secret since most of the higher ups already know about it, it’s just that we didn’t expect you to be drawn in by it like this.” The Heavenly Demon said with a sigh as he walked over to the metal ingot that was in the center of the room.

Then after a moment of hesitation, he reached his hand out and cut off a piece of this metal ingot.

He held this piece in his hand before bringing it back over to hold in front of Lin Fan before saying, “How is it? Are you feeling anything?”

Lin Fan gave a nod as he said, “I can feel the resonance coming from it with my physique. That means that I can absorb it.”

The Heavenly Demon and Poison King both knitted their brows when they heard this.

Even though this was what they had expected to happen, it wasn’t as if they were happy to see this. After all, it would be a problem if they were to give this metal ingot to Lin Fan.

This metal ingot was known as Source Metal and it was a mass of pure metal elemental energy. But before that, this was the thing that was powering all of the cores of the arrays that gathered the spiritual energy.

That was because this Source Metal had a special property to it which was that it drew in things around it.

With the way that it drew things in, it was almost as if it was the very source of the world which was how it got its name.

So if they were to allow Lin Fan to take the full piece of Source Metal, then it would mean disabling this entire special training ground.

Just giving him this piece alone was already enough to shut off 10% of the caves that were in this special training ground. This was the limit to what the Heavenly Demon could explain to the others.

If he were to give Lin Fan more of this Source Metal, then there really would be a big problem.

Lin Fan could guess this as well from the expression on the Heavenly Demon’s face when he handed this piece of Source Metal over.

Lin Fan didn’t thank him in the end since he knew that there was no need for this.

The only thing that he could do was repay the entire Heavenly Demon Sect in the future for this favour.

After taking that piece of the Source Metal, there was no delay at all as a change came over his body.

It was as if he was about to break through again.
