What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 259: Third Antenna

I made sure to fly high up in the air so even if one of the survey team or the Vanguards were to look up, I would just be a speck in the sky and indistinguishable from everything else.

I found the building that Liliac was in charge of placing the antenna at and found her being lifted up the side of the building by vines that clung to the side of the walls.

She was simply seated on a chair made out of the branches that was moving upwards in a wave to lift her up.

She was quite literally gliding up the side of the building using the plants as an elevator.

I actually found that rather cute.

What I was concerned with, however, was that there might be an Anomaly along the path that she was using to ascend and she might end up getting attacked while she was climbing up.

And as if to mock me for thinking so...

I watched as the wall right above Liliac suddenly exploded outwards and an Anomaly jumped out through the hole to dive down towards her.

I immediately tucked myself and dove down towards them, intending to catch the Anomaly before it could get Liliac.

But my concerns seemed to be unnecessary as a branch suddenly struck out and smacked the Anomaly across the side of its face, sending the Anomaly flying off course to tumble down to the streets below.

Liliac didn’t even slow down her ascent and it even looked like she wasn’t surprised by the Anomaly, like she had already known that was going to happen even before it happened.

That was when I remembered that she could sense the things around her through the plants so she most likely had the entire building mapped out even before she started climbing it.

That’s why she must have already known there was an Anomaly on that floor and was fully prepared to intercept it even before it started charging through the wall.

Hmm... I guess I could have just asked her to come along and clear out the buildings with her skill instead... That would have been pretty useful.

I slowed down my descent and angled myself towards the roof of the building, landing on top of it right as she reached the roof as well.

She jerked a little in surprise when she saw me appear from the sky and looked around as though expecting something else to happen, only to turn back to look in the direction of the base camp.

"Don’t worry, everything’s fine. I just came to check on you to see if you need help," I assured her.

She let out a sigh of relief before turning back to me, "I’m alright, Mor... Umm... Qing. What... What about mister Dan?"

I found it a little ironic that she was calling him with a ’mister’ attached to his name and me by my name directly but I chose not to comment on it.

Instead, I focused on creating the teleportation door and connected it to the rooftop I had just left Dan on.

The door opened and I found Dan still laying on the ground, looking like he was asleep.

Unfortunately, Liliac seemed to have the wrong idea once again since she let out a loud gasp and took a few steps towards the door.

"Mi... Mister Daniel?! Are... Are you alright?!"

He let out a groan, not even bothering to lift up his head.

"Help... I’ve fallen and I can’t get up..."

I rolled my eyes at him being melodramatic and stepped through the door to grab one of his legs to pull him through the door.

He immediately looked up and started protesting, "Oi!! Wah lau eh!! Be gentle can or not?!"

I didn’t bother with being gentle and just dragged him through the door to dump him in front of Liliac before dematerialising the door.

Dan then sat up and groaned at me, "You like some slave driver sia..."

"If I was, I would have made you climb all the way up by yourself instead of meeting you halfway up the stairs."

"What’s the point... You might as well just tell me to wait at the apartment lobby instead of making me climb it..."

"It’s just some stairs. It’s for the authenticity."

"Shaddup lah... You superhuman... I don’t have enhanced strength leh. To you, climbing up those stairs is no big deal... To me, it’s tiring leh."

Ah... Ok... I admit I might have placed my own bias on that because I legitimately saw the climbing of those stairs as no big deal since I could probably do it pretty easily... I forgot that other people don’t have the same strength and stamina as I do...

Oops... My bad.

I just thought having him sit around in the lobby would be boring and at least climbing the stairs involved some exercise so he wouldn’t be as bored...

Oh well... Duly noted.

Not going to give him the satisfaction of admitting it though, otherwise he’s just going to use that to bother me all the time.

I ignored him and went ahead to take the antenna rod from Liliac to plant it down on the ground in an open space, watching as it extended itself to deploy the actual antenna.

Liliac watched the thing unfold in wonder before turning to me, "This means we’re done, right?"

I nod, "In setting up the antennas at least. There’s one other issue that I think we should take note of though."

Liliac turned to me with a tilt of her head, "What is it? Is it the Anomalies hiding inside the buildings? I can use the plants to take care of them if you want? They seem to react to scent."

That surprised me, "Scent?"

She nodded, "Even when I grow the plants around them, they don’t seem to react. They only react when I get closer and my scent reaches them. I clad myself with plants the rest of the way up to mask my scent and they did not react after that."

Huh... That’s interesting...

I guess that’s why I also didn’t really encounter any on my own way up the building since I was launching myself upwards at high speeds and my scent probably got dispersed with the wind until I stopped on the ledge.

Hmm... In that case...

"Does that mean you can just use your plants to kill off all the Anomalies remaining inside the city without anyone going around to lure them out?"

"Umm... Possibly? I might... Need to take a while though... I need to concentrate on searching for them and... Using the plants to kill them..."

"Out of curiosity... How do you kill them with your plants?"

"Ah... I just... Grow out a vine and wrap it around their necks to tear it off... They don’t even react so it’s quite easy."

...

I think Liliac could actually be quite scary...

I guess I can assign her to do that if we need to clear out the city next time.

For now though...

I created another teleportation door to teleport us to the room that I found the radio in and brought all three of us inside that room.

We stepped out and the radio was right where I left it, still broadcasting the same message on a loop.

Dan took one look at the thing and frowned, "This reminds me of those old zombie apocalypse movies leh."

I nodded, "The Anomalies might as well have been a zombie apocalypse to them. The dead mutating into Anomalies... And then attacking the living..."

"True. So what’s this Gorald estate thing? Some kind of location?"

"I would assume so. We’ll probably need to find some kind of map that we can refer to or some other way to figure out where this location is. The fact that the message only just mentions that estate and expects people to know means that it’s common knowledge in this world so we should be able to find it. It’s like telling people to meet up at the White House or something."

Liliac looked around the room that was already overgrown with plants, "It feels like... It’s been quite a while since anyone has been here."

Dan then took out his phone and started taking pictures, "I guess we should report this as well eh? Did you already record all this down?"

"Err... No..." I admitted, having completely not thought of that since I was more worried about Anomalies attacking the both of them.

Dan just let out a chuckle and continued what he was doing, as though he already expected that answer from me.

He even tried to find if the radio had a frequency that we could tap into and just recorded down everything that looked like useful information, including the half rotted posters and papers that were scattered all around the room that I had ignored earlier.

Alright... Once we’re done here, we should go check back with the survey team.
