Chapter 593: Chapter 593: The Struggle Continues

Ling Mingqing didn’t get a chance to say anything else before Ling Mingrui continued coldly, “If you have any grievances, you can go talk to our father. He personally intervened in this matter.”

“I’ll ask father about this,” Ling Mingqing said emotionlessly and left the room.

Ling Mingrui paid no attention.

While Ling Mingrui and Ling Mingqing were not getting along, the younger generation of the Ling Family, including Ling Zhengping, Ling Zhengjun, Ling Zhengmin, Ling Zhenghui, and Ling Zhengtuan, were also gathered together discussing matters. Ling Zhengjun, who had been hit by Luo Ziling, was extremely angry and could not help but vent his frustrations in front of so many people as soon as the cousins gathered.

Of course, he still referred to Luo Ziling as a bastard and swore never to let it go, insisting that such a great shame must be avenged.

“You’ve already ruined Grandpa’s birthday banquet atmosphere today, aren’t you satisfied? Are you going to continue making a scene?” Ling Zhengping, seeing Ling Zhengjun becoming somewhat irrational and feeling quite smug about it, spoke with a tone of cold sarcasm, “You got hit because you called Luo Ziling a bastard. Haven’t you learned your lesson, or do you want to get slapped again?”

The relationship between Ling Mingrui and Ling Mingqing wasn’t very good, and the relationship between Ling Zhengping and Ling Zhengjun was also affected by their fathers. As the eldest sons of Ling Mingrui and Ling Mingqing, they had even more to contend over, so their rivalry was somewhat conspicuous. Today, in front of Ling Zhengping, Ling Zhengjun called the son of Ling Zhengping’s sister a bastard; Ling Zhengping did not hesitate to retalively mock him, even though he harbored intense hatred towards Luo Ziling as well.

“Big brother is right, on Great Grandfather’s ninetieth birthday, you actually caused such a scene. After being reprimanded by Great Grandpa, you still don’t stop. Do you want to anger the old man to death?” Ling Zhenghui, who got along well with Ling Zhengping and was Ling Haijun’s father, immediately spoke in support of Ling Zhengping. “Do you want to be punished, too?”

Although Ling Mingrui and Ling Qirui were not biological brothers, their cousin relationship was quite good. Ling Qirui’s eldest son Ling Zhenghui had the best relationship with Ling Zhengping, and he openly took Ling Zhengping’s side to criticize Ling Zhengjun.

Ling Zhengmin, the biological younger brother of Ling Zhengjun, because he also didn’t have a good relationship with Ling Zhengjun and they both sought to claim more resources, did not speak out when his brother was being criticized by the others. Ling Zhengtuan, the biological younger brother of Ling Zhenghui and the father of the young girl Ling Qingqing who had spoken up for Luo Ziling, also kept quiet, fearing involvement.

Ling Zhengjian, son of Ling Qizheng who was Ling Qirui’s younger brother, because of his good relationship with Ling Zhengjun, still spoke up in support of him, “We can’t blame Zhengjun brother for this. A son was bullied, a father naturally has to step in and intervene. I think, the elder brothers present here, if they see their own son or daughter being bullied, being hit, wouldn’t remain indifferent, right?”

“If you want to infuriate Grandpa, then keep causing trouble,” Ling Zhengping stood up and left the room.

Seeing Ling Zhengping leave, Ling Zhenghui also stood up and went to the courtyard.

In the courtyard, the youngest members of the Ling Family were all there, the ones who had just been beaten by Luo Ziling were somewhat huddling together for warmth, huddled and whispering about something. Ling Haining and Ling Haijun, who had not taken part in today’s fighting, as well as other Ling Family descendants, were on the other side of the courtyard, under the wisteria trellis having tea and chatting.

Ling Zhengping and Ling Zhenghui did not linger in the courtyard but went to talk to Ling Mingrui.

At this moment, Ling Ruonan, accompanied by Wuyue, entered the old mansion. Seeing Ling Ruonan come in with a serious face, Ling Zhengping and Ling Zhenghui immediately stood still, waiting for her to approach.

“Ruonan, you’re back,” Ling Zhengping greeted her with a smile, “I didn’t expect such a thing to happen today. Don’t be angry, it was just some people deliberately causing trouble. Dad and Grandpa will be able to judge right from wrong.”

“Ruonan, they have really gone too far,” Ling Zhenghui also chimed in with Ling Zhengping, “So many people ganging up on your son, and to do so during Great Grandpa’s ninetieth birthday celebration.”

Ling Ruonan mustered a strained smile, then said, “Brothers, I’m going to speak with father first, we’ll chat later.”

Ling Zhengping nodded, “Zhenghui and I also want to go talk with father. Go ahead, and we will keep Grandpa company for a chat. We’ll talk with you later.”

Watching Ling Ruonan enter the mansion, Ling Zhenghui said in a low voice, “Brother, given the current situation, should we do something?”

Ling Zhengping shook his head, “Let’s not do anything for now. That kid has some nerve, daring to cause trouble and beat people up in the old mansion on a day like today. Someone’s bound to teach him and his mother a lesson. We’ll just sit back and enjoy the show.”

Ling Zhenghui nodded and said nothing more.

When Ling Ruonan left the villa and returned to the old mansion, Luo Ziling had fallen asleep in his room.

He didn’t hear Ling Ruonan standing at the door, softly asking him something, and only woke up at four o’clock in the afternoon.

Stepping out of his room and seeing that the villa was silent and empty, Luo Ziling knew that Ling Ruonan had gone back to the old mansion to continue attending Old Mr. Ling’s birthday celebration. Sighing to himself, he did not try to contact Ling Ruonan and went downstairs to find something to eat.

He noticed several messages on his phone, all from Yang Qingyin.

He had told Ouyang Feifei that he would attend Ling Jinhua’s birthday celebration, so she hadn’t contacted him.

“Junior, how’s it going?”

“Are you going to the Ling Family Old Mansion tonight?”

“If you are, please hold back. The elders really don’t want to see the younger ones quarreling in public. And today being Old Mr. Ling’s 90th birthday, even if you’re angry, you have to restrain yourself or they’ll have a bad impression of you. If you see this message, remember to reply, okay?” Followed by two kissing emojis.

Luo Ziling immediately replied to the message, telling Yang Qingyin that he wouldn’t attend the birthday banquet; after all, his well-wishes had been conveyed and his sentiment expressed.

Upon seeing Luo Ziling’s message and knowing he was alone in Ling Ruonan’s villa, Yang Qingyin immediately called him.

“Junior, are you feeling upset?” Yang Qingyin’s voice was gentle, and she spoke with some caution, “How about I keep you company and we talk? I’ll treat you to dinner and we can chat, okay?”

“Alright,” Luo Ziling agreed without hesitation, “Let’s find a place to have dinner then.”

“Okay,” Yang Qingyin agreed promptly and told Luo Ziling that she would go ahead to find a place. Once she found it, she would share the location with him.

Luo Ziling naturally agreed.

Before hanging up the phone, Yang Qingyin added a special warning, “Be careful when you come out, watch your back, and don’t let anyone follow you. The person you hit might be thinking of getting revenge right now.”

“Thanks for the heads up, Senior,” Luo Ziling felt a sudden warmth in his heart.
