Chapter 1252 - 1192: Not One Family
When fishing, being restless is the worst thing. Kiya’s mind was unsettled, so naturally he couldn’t catch a fish.
"What’s going on today? These fish are against me!" Kiya said angrily.
"..."
"These damn fish!"
Knowing Kiya was in a foul mood, Gavin didn’t dare say anything. He wished he could find someone to dive into the water and hook a few fish onto Kiya’s line to cheer him up.
But, even if Kiya caught ten fish, he wouldn’t be happy.
The source of his unhappiness hadn’t been resolved.
The float started moving, but Kiya wasn’t paying attention. Gavin reminded him, "Sultan, the fish are biting."
Kiya was lost in thought and didn’t react at all. Gavin watched helplessly as the fish took the bait and escaped.
Now Gavin was torn about whether to remind their great Sultan that there was no more bait on the hook, and that he wouldn’t catch any fish.
While Gavin was conflicted, Gary ran over quickly and reported to Kiya, "Sultan, the Queen is leaving."
"Leaving?" Kiya stood up immediately, his fishing rod falling into the lake, and Gavin quickly retrieved it.
Gary urgently said, "The Queen said she’s worried about Curly and the kids and wants to go back to the Johnson Family." Seeing Kiya’s face looking grim, Gary added, "...But the Queen didn’t take Dylan."
Who knew, Kiya’s expression worsened, "She doesn’t want me, and she doesn’t want our son... Is she planning never to come back?"
Gary: That’s not what he meant.
Kiya was angry, but he couldn’t just let her travel around with a big belly. After calming down a bit, he went to find Paige.
...
In the room, Paige was indeed packing clothes, still squeezing the jewelry he gave her into a jewelry box. The box was so full it couldn’t hold anymore, so Paige wrapped the rest in cloth.
Kiya walked in, stood by her side without speaking, and Paige glanced at him without saying a word either.
When Paige was almost done packing, she said to Kiya, "Did Gary tell you? I’m going to stay at the Johnson Family for a while. I’m not taking Dylan. You take care of him."
Kiya went over and emptied the things she packed, using too much force. A fine emerald pendant fell and shattered.
"Oh dear, what are you doing?" Paige was about to squat down to pick it up, but Kiya looked at her big belly and quickly pulled her up.
"Where are you going?" Kiya grabbed her hand and asked.
"Going to the Johnson Family. My sister-in-law is not there, and neither is my brother. The twins are so small, I’m not at ease." She repeated.
Kiya said, "With your big belly, who can you take care of?"
"I’m uneasy. I want to go and check on them."
"You’re not allowed to go!" Kiya said domineeringly, putting all her packed luggage back in the closet.
Since learning about Sienna’s issues, Paige had been worried. As Adrian’s only sister, how could she stay here peacefully with something like this happening?
"Kiya, I have to go. Curly cried so sadly; that girl never cried like this before."
"..."
"That girl loves jewelry the most. I’ve taken all the jewelry you gave me to cheer her up."
Paige had spent the most time together with Curly, caring for her as if she were her daughter, so her feelings for Curly were deeper.
Kiya didn’t speak but didn’t change his mind either. He wouldn’t let Paige go.
"You haven’t eaten breakfast. I’ll have the kitchen make something for you. What would you like to eat?"
"Kiya, I want to go to the Johnson Family to check on Curly and the others!"
"Go after you give birth."
"It’s more than two months until the due date. If we drive slowly, it should be fine." Seeing Kiya wouldn’t give in, Paige said, "How about you come with me?"
Kiya still disagreed. Paige, already prone to mood swings as a pregnant woman, truly got angry.
"Of course, they’re not your family, so you don’t care. ... Do you understand my feelings now?
Back then, you blamed me for not being tolerant, for loving your mother... And you? Kiya, have you ever loved my family?"
"My parents passed away early, I only have one brother. Now something’s happened to his family, leaving four kids behind, the twins aren’t even a year old, I just can’t leave them and go check on them... Kiya, you’re actually stopping me."
Paige cried sorrowfully, feeling especially aggrieved, "... Leave, I don’t want to see you! You’re a selfish, cruel man!"
"How am I not concerned about them? Didn’t I send Minnie to help?"
"It’s not enough, that’s not enough!"
"Then what do you want me to do?"
"I want to go to the Johnson Family!"
"No!" In this matter, there was no room for negotiation.
Paige was unusually resolute, not conceding an inch, "I must go. They are my family."
"I said no!"
"If something happened to your mother? Kiya, could you be so calm?"
Their argument continued, eventually bringing up mother-in-law issues again. Sienna explained, "I know many times, it’s my mother who was wrong, but she’s my mother, what am I supposed to do?
You’re my wife, for my sake, can’t you tolerate a little more, what’s wrong with me?
Do you want me to discipline my mother? Scold her, hit her?"
The biggest issue between Kiya and Paige had always been the mother-in-law problem, and the main reason for their divorce was Kiya’s mother.
"Why should I tolerate her? Who is she? She’s your mother, not mine!
She doesn’t respect me, why should I respect her?
She doesn’t love me, why should I love her?"
"..."
"I’ll tell you! Kiya, I don’t want to endure anymore, leave, I don’t want to see you!" Paige said emotionally.
Some problems, just because they don’t mention them, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
Both were angry; looking at each other’s eyes, there was resentment, misunderstanding, and sadness.
"Fine, I’ll leave! I’ll leave and never come back!" Kiya said in a fit of pique.
Paige ignored Kiya’s angry outburst. She couldn’t leave the kids behind, wanting to check on them, even if she couldn’t help, she wanted to see them.
She believed if something happened to her, Sienna would help take care of her children too.
They were the real family, Kiya never treated her family as his family.
Thinking about Kiya’s bias, filial piety in handling in-law relationships, Paige was left cold.
Considering each other’s heart, Kiya had never truly reciprocated.
Paige kneeled down to pick up the jewelry on the floor, completely ignoring Kiya, while Kiya reached the door, turned around, and saw Paige still ignoring him, feeling a block in his heart.
"Paige, I’m really leaving."
