Chapter 193: The Final Event of The Conclave
Chapter 193: The Final Event of The Conclave
It had been just two weeks since the first event of the Conclave ended.
During this time nothing happened at all, primarily because the event had been in a break phase. All participants that survived during the first event were given two weeks to recover and go through their gained loot.
Most loot was saved for the Sects outside who had been waiting anxiously.
Outside, none of them knew of the situation as the Conclave made it suspenseful. There was no ranking outside, letting them know if they had been eliminated or if they were ranking good enough.
Even those eliminated hadn’t been sent out, but to a separate place until the event ended.
Over the past two weeks, the Originats focused solely on boosting their powers.
While they managed to keep their hold on the top spot, things got tricky toward the end. If their bloodlines hadn’t advanced at just the right moment, who knows how things might have turned out?
So, for their downtime they honed themselves and got used to their new bloodline enhancements.
Currently, they were seated in the stands along with the surviving members of the Myriad Sect of Races.
They were inside a stadium floating amidst endless clouds, vast and open, with thousands of platforms suspended in the sky like islands of polished obsidian and gold.
Thousands of fights raged simultaneously below—flashes of law essence exploding in brilliant colors, shockwaves rippling through the air, the distant roars of combatants mixing with the crowd’s thunderous cheers.
This was the final event—the Hundredfold Calamity Gauntlet.
Explained to them by Jester, it was a simple event to end things off.
While the first event provided resources for the Sect, this was only for the participant.
Everyone remaining would fight two hundred battles.
Those with the most wins attained the highest ranking and if there were any who were tied, they would fight unless an agreement was made. The most absurd thing though… There were only ten prizes and ten spots.
As they watched and chatted amongst each other… One of their badges hummed. It was Yonna, as it was time for her to begin.
“Finally, I was getting bored watching these fools.” Nia said in slight boredom, by now all of them could be said to stand in a league of their own amongst those of the same rank.
Even more so than before, and for Nia and Vaeloria in particular they were far beyond what most Calamity ranks could dish out.
“Big sister don’t play with your food out there.” Caelan said with a smirk. His words caused the others to chuckle with a bit of reminisce. It was words Ash used talking to them during time of leisure.
Yonna laughed a bit before making her way to the empty stage.
“Not even in my dreams.”
The platform was a vast circle of cracked stone suspended in the clouds, edges glowing faintly with barrier runes that hummed with containment energy.
Yonna landed gracefully, wings folding behind her as rose-pink mist trailed from her feathers.
Her opponent—an Elf woman of peerless beauty, slender and ethereal with flowing silver hair and eyes like polished emeralds—appeared opposite her, bow already in hand.
The moment the battle began she summoned a bow and drew an empty string. The moment it went forward an arrow of pure wind formed.
WHOOOSH!
In an instant the arrow was on Yonna… It wasn’t a skill nor talent, but the bow itself.
It was specially attuned to the Law of Archery and Wind… So, only a pull of the string was needed.
On top of that, it required no mana consumption.
So, as the first shot fired, the second, then third… and so on fired until they were bombarding Yonna from the very beginning—WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!—arrows streaking like green comets, slicing the air with sharp whistles.
As Yonna dodged the first arrow she smirked. Seeing the woman was taking things slow… she would make her pay for it…
As Caelan said…
’Don’t play with my food..’ She thought before the Law of Wind erupted in full force.
Each and every arrow faltered and began to unravel only hanging on due to the Law of Archery. Seeing this the Elf tried to contest with the Law of Wind…
What a futile mistake… The arrows tried to reform, but faltered once again causing her to lose a bit of mana.
Yonna moved swiftly as she activated the Law of Void and Mist.
These were two things her sub nexuses made sure she melded into her being.
The instant the two erupted the entire platform became a deathly fog—thick, swirling crimson-black mist that clung to skin like cold fingers, muffling sound and dimming light until the world felt swallowed.
She activated a skill talent.
Mist of the Void (Paragon)
The mist thickened into something alive—tendrils coiling around the Elf like hungry serpents, seeping into her eyes until vision blurred to nothing but endless black, into her ears until all sound became a distant, muffled roar, into her nose and mouth until breath tasted of void and decay.
Her mana sense frayed at the edges—connections to essence unraveling like threads pulled from cloth, leaving her blind to the flow of power around her, deaf to the hum of laws, numb to the very air.
Panic flickered in her eyes as the mist ate away at every sense, turning the battlefield into an isolating prison where only touch remained—and even that felt distant, cold, wrong.
Yonna then went on the offensive even more as she pressed the Elf using the Law of wind to boost her already absurd speed. It was as if she melded into the very flow of wind itself—body blurring into streaks of crimson mist.
SHK!
SHK!
SHK!
Her blade appeared in her hand as she began to carve the Elf anew—slashes precise and merciless, blood spraying in hot arcs that the mist drank greedily. In mere moments the platform that was foggy to the lookers became a bloody mess.
The Elf feeling herself in a tight position created space. She didn’t know where Yonna was or where she would come from next… But she only needed a moment.
She erratically began to shoot arrows not of Wind but pure Archery essence.
WHOOOSH
WHOOOSH
WHOOSHHH
Tearing through the fog in random directions were hundreds of arrows that seemed to never stop.
Doing this achieved the slightest moment she needed.
Calamity Law – Law of Everlasting Life
Like most Elves… she was attuned to nature and life like no other.
The moment the Law erupted, a massive illusory tree sprouted towering over the stage.
It was tens of thousands of meters tall, when it appeared a golden leaf with a green outline appeared over the Elf’s head.
The fog vanished, she healed anew and her power spiked. Her already 5th Calamity rank didn’t rise but her aura emanated the feeling of someone at the 8th rank.
Without giving time to react, she moved firing her bow.
This time they weren’t simple shots… Each one had the Law of Life, Archery, and Nature imbued. Not only that, her Calamity Law would provide her nonstop healing and powerboost in these specific laws as long as it had leaves…
The downside was that there were only five leaves that could be seen… it was like a veil on the countless others. And each minute… the leaves vanished forever.
The Law would not reset until the tree was empty.
BOOOM!!!!
The arrows caused an impact like no other the moment it reached Yonna whom simply encased herself in her wings with the law of void.
However, the bow not only struck hard… but the Law of Life began to do the opposite of what most would think. It began to take the life right from her very body…
Each arrow sought to end her completely…
—
“Heh, she’s not too bad huh?” Sonna said while watching her sister dodge arrow after arrow.
“Hmm, I’d say she’s doing well for not already being dead.” Thalion added as he adjusted his glasses.
To him the battle was already good and over…
“Oh, give her some credit. Her Calamity Law is indeed stronger than most… not just that the other ones she’d been subtly using aren’t bad either.” Vaeloria said as they watched as an arrow chase after Yonna like a homing missile.
Yonna could be seen flying into the skies as she scoffed.
By now they’d both began using Calamity Laws, subtly and outright… This is how the battle of Calamity warriors went, it was all about who had the most Laws, most creative in their usage of Calamity Laws, and just down right strength.
Seeing the face on her little sister, Sonna shook her head.
“Welp, this one is all over.” She muttered right before Yonna’s words sounded over all the noise from the other platforms… Her’s was heard clear.
Calamity Law – Law of Nebulous Abyss
In that instant, the entire platform was once again covered in a foggy mist… Just this time it was red and black.
Each arrow began to unravel yet again as they were eroded by the mist.
Then the Elf herself found herself being chased by the mist…
Until it latched onto her foot as if a massive hand was dragging her from the skies into the pits of hell.
The moment they touched, her blood essence began to dry and almost empty at a rapid pace.
“GGs love.” Yonna said with a cold smile…
Right before she slashed downward with her sword sending an arc of pure blood, void, and wind.
BOOOOOM!!!!
The moment the Elf died… there was no pause no wait… the platform didn’t even allow the debris to clear before the next opponent dove into the platform…
It was a Human, a male… He didn’t wait, didn’t speak… He attacked right off the bat with the Law of Fire.
FWOOOOSHHHHH!!!!
A massive ball of flames crashed right into Yonna.
And as her second battle commenced… each of the other Originats felt their badges hum.
