Chapter 2215 - 2215: A Strategy.
“For now—
Instead of thinking about fulfilling our selfish desires,
We need to think of a solution—
A solution to the much more urgent problem.
The Anomaly.”
Balance spoke and for a moment, the entire room turned silent, letting his words settle.
The other Infinities realized it as well; it was pointless to discuss this further. Even in an extremely unlikely scenario where even one of them was prepared to sacrifice himself, the Anomaly hadn’t become a big enough threat for an action that grand.
This entire conversation was more of a test, a little experiment that gave every Infinity insight into what the other Infinities were thinking regarding this matter. And once they all got what they wanted, their attention turned towards Seraphielle.
After all, from here on, the further conversation depended on her. If she was going to take Darkness’s words seriously, then she would need to address the matter regarding the Anomaly only targeting her—
A matter that… would give rise to currently buried complications, and if that happened, they would be playing right into the Anomaly’s hands.
After all, the Infinities already knew it was highly likely that the Anomaly was purposefully targeting just one of them to sow discord among them—a simple but quite efficient move.
For now, however, the Four Infinities didn’t fall for it as—
“What do you suggest we do?”
Seraphielle questioned, a question that was more of a statement that she wouldn’t be discussing this matter and letting the Anomaly’s plan succeed, for now.
Orravyn sighed at those words. Since they didn’t fall for it, this alone could be seen as a minor victory. At the very least, they wouldn’t have to waste their breaths over this matter.
With this, they could finally move onto bigger, more important things—
“First, we need to understand our enemy, and to understand him, we first need to understand his actions.”
He began, attracting the other Infinities’ attention. This time, even Darkness didn’t say anything either; he was… already bored.
So he would rather the conversation end soon and they take action instead. A chance to fight against the Anomaly would be welcomed even more, but…
Ul’Thakar didn’t wish to be the first to go against the Anomaly. As much as he enjoyed battles—especially battles that could challenge him—
Going against an enemy he had no information about, when none of his “rivals” were making a move, was… foolish.
He had no intention of becoming another’s lab rat.
While Ul’Thakar was thinking all this, Orravyn continued—
“Ever since the Anomaly first appeared, he has only been doing one thing.
Devour.
Taking away what belongs to our Universe.
He began with Lowest-Level Worlds, then with time, he reached the stage where he can now devour even High-Level Worlds.
Just from that alone, one thing is clear—
His strength grows with time, and the rate at which he is getting stronger is… threatening. Very threatening.”
Orravyn spoke in a solemn tone and the others nodded; they too had sensed this problem, and it was… indeed concerning.
Orravyn nodded back and then continued—
“In our previous discussions, we came up with two primary theories:
The Anomaly is either weaker than us for various reasons,
Or…
He is hiding his strength for various reasons, the primary one being his lack of information.
And while the second theory does hold some weight, thinking about it more thoroughly, it… does not make sense.
The Anomaly has already made significant progress; with the number of people he has captured and the worlds he has devoured, he should already know much more about our Universe than we do about his.
The only thing he would not know is how strong we, this Universe’s Infinities, are, but… none of his actions seem like he is trying to find it out. Or even if he is trying to find out, his means are… incredibly inefficient.
Attacking other worlds of our Universe with his Immortal Army will not help him if his goal is to reveal our true strength. After all, even he would know that dealing with his Immortal Army would be a child’s play for us.
The only action that does make me believe in this possibility is him only targeting the worlds that belong to Seraphielle’s faction.
It is clear that he is trying to sow discord, and if this discord grows into a battle between Supreme Worlds—where we fight each other—he can be a spectator, analysing our strength and making his plans accordingly.”
Orravyn explained, looking at Seraphielle in the end. The meaning behind his gaze was clear: he wanted Seraphielle to be careful.
The Infinity of Light, however, didn’t say anything, and Orravyn just continued—
“While that plan may work if he is extremely fortunate, the Anomaly should know the chances of it happening aren’t high.
Actually, we could even use this to act out an entire battle between the Supreme Worlds, where we fight but hide our true strength to lure him out. But that can be discussed later.
Let me move to our first theory, one that I believe is much more likely.
The Anomaly—he is currently weaker than us.”
Orravyn momentarily turned silent, letting his words settle and making sure everyone was on the same page as him. After a while, when none of the Infinities said anything, he saw it as a gesture to continue, and that is what he did—
“I believe what Equarios said before might be correct.
There is a high chance that the Anomaly is facing some sort of universal restriction when he travels between two different Universes—a restriction that weakens him to a considerable level.
But…”
Orravyn’s tone then became more solemn and—
“But I also believe that he has a way to weaken this restriction.”
The other Infinities narrowed their eyes at those words and Orravyn continued.
“This is what he has been doing for a while now.
When he first came to our Universe, the restriction was strong; it weakened him to the point where maybe he couldn’t even devour a Lowest-Level World.
But as he worked his way around it, the restriction began getting weaker and weaker.
It first began with the Anomaly just devouring the residue of a devoured Lowest-Level World. That was the first time the Universe reacted to him—but it was such a small incident that none of us acted.
Then, after the restrictions loosened, the Anomaly became bolder; he devoured a complete Lowest-Level World. That was when that Fifth Infinity protected him.
And from then on…
He got stronger and stronger.
After a few Lowest-Level Worlds, he began targeting Low-Level Worlds, then he moved to devouring living beings from different worlds, then he targeted Middle-Level Worlds.
And while he still devoured Low or Lowest-Level Worlds during these moments, that could be seen as him trying to distract us, or maybe him not being strong enough to devour a certain Middle-Level World that was his target back then.
And now, in just a few centuries, the Anomaly went from a being who started from mere residue of a Lowest-Level World to a being who can easily devour any High-Level World in a matter of seconds.
That could only mean one thing: the restrictions on him have loosened to a considerable degree, allowing him to use more of his strength.
Of course, there is another theory—
Maybe it is not the restriction that is loosening.
Maybe the Anomaly itself is getting stronger the more time he spends in our Universe.
But in both cases, the rate at which he is growing is extremely concerning.
And from everything we have seen so far, I believe the way he loosens the restrictions or… gets stronger…
Is through devouring what belongs to our Universe.
So if we need to stop him, for starters, we need to come up with ways to stop him from devouring what is ours—especially our worlds, our High-Level Worlds, to which our Universe reacts most strongly.”
Orravyn spoke, and this time, none of the Infinities countered his words. They all knew what he was saying was just a theory but… it all made logical sense.
And while they were still paranoid—thinking maybe this was exactly what the Anomaly wanted them to think, so while they were focusing here, he got what he wanted elsewhere—
Even if that was true, they would simply need to change their plans accordingly.
None of their current plans could be perfect anyway since they lacked critical information.
So at the very least, they needed to protect what they could.
But at the same time—
“This is too defensive.”
Ul’Thakar spoke up, attracting attention.
“There are thousands of High-Level Worlds and only the four of us who could stop him.
Are we supposed to keep defending those worlds from his potential attacks indefinitely? This doesn’t seem very efficient.”
The Entity of Darkness spoke, and this time, there was no sarcasm or scorn in his tone. This was his valid concern—one that—
“Indeed. While protecting our High-Level Worlds to prevent him from getting stronger may be a good defensive strategy, we still need something more offensive.”
Equarios spoke up.
Yes, even Equarios—who was called Ul’Thakar’s opposite just a few moments ago—was supporting his words.
