Chapter 602 Kidnapped People (Bonus)
As soon as Sonia escaped from the room, she went down to the basement. The guards seemed to have gone outside, trying to help with whatever they could against their group.
With no more guards around, Sonia entered the basement, finding a massive prison inside. The foul odor was unpleasant, reminding her of her past.
“Ugh.” Sonia covered her nose while carefully moving forward. It didn’t take her long to reach the first cell, so she sneakily took a peek inside the cells.
“!!!” Sonia widened her eyes in shock. There were three women inside. Their eyes lacked focus, as though they had been drugged. However, their mouths kept muttering the same thing over and over again. “Glory to the Black Cat. Glory to the Black Cat.”
Sonia squinted her eyes, not expecting that they had been brainwashed to this extent.
‘Are they students from other academies?’ Sonia carefully cut the cell’s bars and put it down gently without making too much noise. She then entered the room, wondering if she could find anything.
She inspected each woman while still erasing her presence.
There were a few marks left behind by needles in their arms. Their clothes seemed to have been thrown away as they only wore a single piece of cloth to cover their entire body.
When she looked at the ground, she wanted to puke almost immediately. ‘This is… bodily fluid? No. They’re actually training not only a summoner slave but also a sex slave?
‘Now, I finally understand. Back when I was kidnapped by them, I was trained to be an assassin. It appeared that each base had different purposes.
‘I thought they kidnapped people just to become an assassin like me, but I was wrong. They trained all kinds of slaves. If they had talents in assassination, they would be trained like an assassin. If they had no other talents but a mature body, they would be trained like a sex slave.
‘There might even be other kinds of slaves here. They would be brainwashed and turned into such a doll. Elite criminals would definitely love such a thing.’
Sonia’s expression turned darker every moment. ‘Can they even get out even if I open the door?’
Sonia hesitated before leaving the room without doing anything for the kidnapped women yet. She inspected the other cells.
Just like her original conclusion, the base was indeed used to train the sex slaves, who also happened to be summoners. And women weren’t the only ones trained here. There were several men, even though their number was lower.
‘…’ Sonia was completely speechless. She wondered if she should have conducted more investigation much earlier. When Sonia thought about it, she noticed that she never really cared about anything other than fulfilling Evelyn’s wish.
It turned out there was still a trace of brainwashing left behind that had been ingrained in her body to the point where she, or even Evelyn, didn’t realize it remained.
As an assassin, she had been trained to go on a mission and eliminate her target. And without her realizing it, when Evelyn saved her, she registered Evelyn as her master and considered revenge as her mission.
‘I have never thought about it…’ Sonia clenched her daggers tightly. On the one hand, she couldn’t help but wonder what she should do now that she had realized everything. On the other hand, the Sleeping Garden had been taking care of her the whole time.
“What’s your name?” Evelyn’s voice echoed in her mind as she couldn’t help but recount the big hand extended toward her.
“Name? What’s my name?”
“You don’t have one? Well…” Evelyn turned her head around, looking at all the corpses around them. “You have endured a lot of things, kid. How about coming with me? We will find your identity and your home.”
Sonia didn’t understand what was going on, but no one besides Evelyn was here. So she nodded her head and grabbed Evelyn’s hand.
“My goodness. They really did you bad.” Evelyn shook her head helplessly. She had to pull Sonia and do everything herself, since Sonia kept staring blankly.
Without that hand, she would probably remain as a mindless assassin, doing nothing but fulfilling her master’s order.
Just recalling that scene put a smile on her face.
“Right? Find my identity and my home…” Sonia muttered. “I can worry about the future when it reaches that point. But for now, I’m still a member of the Sleeping Garden.”
Sonia had an idea.
Even though they were brainwashed, some of them had some resistance or even hadn’t been brainwashed thoroughly, so the clicking sound echoed inside the prison as keys fell right in front of their cells.
“!!!” Those people were startled and approached the keys.
“Use it to free yourself as well as all the people inside this prison. There’s no one else that will stop you. Once you free everyone, take them outside and leave the city. Do it within thirty minutes or you will die.”
Sonia’s voice echoed even though her body was nowhere to be seen.
After giving that instruction, she exited the basement and started destroying some stuff to block one path after another, directing the people to the back door, which would allow them to escape. As long as they exited the city, she could ask the captain to use her ability to teleport them away.
“I guess this is the only thing I can do for them. I hope that they’re able to overcome their trauma and remove the brainwash. Should I ask the captain to send them to the Holy Kingdom so that they could recover?” Sonia shrugged. “Well, I’ll ask Nathan for a solution later. For now, I still have some jobs to do.”
Sonia had a lot of questions in her mind, but she knew that crying over it wouldn’t solve the problem. That was why the best thing she could do was to finish the mission and figure out everything later.
Nathan was there, so he might be able to think of something. The captain and the others were there to support her, so she didn’t have to worry.
