Chapter 1209: Item Choices
Chapter 1209: Item Choices
“Welcome. I’m Lyra, who will be assisting you today.” A female staff politely bowed to Nathan.
Nathan nodded with a serious expression and took his seat. “Has it started yet?”
“We are about to start.”
“I see. In that case, bid for me. Keep going until I tell you to stop.”
“I understand.” The staff brought the book on the table to him. “This is the catalog for this auction.”
Nathan received it and examined what kind of items would be sold.
There were several items he was interested in, such as two manuals and a few rare minerals. The manuals were at a higher level than the ones they should be in the stores. Bringing a lot of manuals to Gratzel shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Still, there were three items that would become the stars of this auction. The first item was a healing salve that was said to be able to close wounds in seconds. As expected, it was made of herbs that contained ena, which boosted its efficacy.
The second item was a medicine that could actually cause the ena to go berserk in one’s body, which ultimately increased the output of their power.
Last but not least, an elite class core. Yes, it was an elite class core. In fact, the catalogue had shown three warrior class mutant cores.
It was quite surprising that an auction like this would be considered small and only attract a few local nobles.
Then again, the number of elite class aliens had increased significantly after the disaster. So, it wouldn’t be weird for such a core to enter the market all of a sudden.
’Interesting…’ Nathan thought.
’Are you going to buy everything, Master?’ Mae, in the ring form, asked.
’For now, I’m thinking about buying the manuals and the rare minerals, like what I showed a few days ago.’
’You should take the elite class core and the mutant cores. The elite class core can be used to create another space element if you want, or you can store it for the time being, or you can just use it right away to get enough ena to waste on contracts and other things.’
’Of course. The cores are important. I’m just considering the medicine. Our continents are not able to create a lot of medicines like this, let alone one that can increase our strength for a moment.’
Mae agreed. ’That’s because the biggest supplier in the herb market is actually your teacher. On the other hand, because they don’t focus on blacksmithing, the people on this continent focus on medicine.’
’Yeah. But if I grab all of them, the attention will become a bit too big. Other nobles might not like it. If we only aim for the cores, we can show that we are only interested in manuals, minerals, and cores, which remains consistent.’
’Are you afraid that the nobles will attack you? In the end, you are a commoner here, so the nobles will think you are easy prey.’
’Indeed.’ Nathan sighed inwardly. ’However, that’s not the biggest reason. We will have a big herb garden at the back of our home. Rather than procuring medicine, why not extract their knowledge? I wonder if they sell medicine manuals somewhere.’
Mae carefully considered Nathan’s decision. Since they had the supply later, it was indeed good to process it. Of course, most of the time, the herbs were used to evolve the familiars.
Depending on the supply, they could process it as medicine, which definitely helped a lot on the front line. Nathan might not need it because of Anubis, but it might save other summoners’ lives.
Nathan took her silence as an agreement before glancing at Lyra. “Lyra.”
“Yes? How may I help you?”
“This might be a weird question because it hasn’t been long since I became a merchant. Do you know how to procure a manual for medicine?” Nathan asked.
Lyra looked surprised for a moment before smiling. “Medicine manuals are not exactly rare. The biggest reason you don’t see them is that you can get all the manuals you want, but the supply is scarce.
“Of course, obtaining a high-level manual will be difficult, but the ingredients are even more difficult.”
“Hmm. I guess the reason is still linked to the fact that we are seeing more herbs in the catalogue,” said Nathan while flipping the page.
“Yes. You can procure manuals at the general store. However, high-level medicine manuals might not be sold.”
“They are the culmination of people’s research after all.” Nathan nodded.
“However, we did acquire such a manual not long ago.”
“Hoh?” Nathan raised his head. “You do?”
“If you would like it, I could inform the manager about it.”
“We’ll talk about it after the auction.” Nathan agreed. He could hear the manager greeting the crowd from the stage.
“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. I’m honored to have you here. I am Max, the manager of this auction house.
“I am aware of the importance of your time, so I will not waste your time any longer. We will begin our auction with this.” The manager extended his hand to the item that had just been brought by a staff and revealed. “This is a rare jade that is able to become one of your sacrificial items or an item that is used to evolve a stone or mineral-type familiar like a golem.
“We will begin our bid at 50,000. Each bid can’t be lower than 10,000.”
Nathan crossed his arms, observing the people’s excitement. As expected, the progress was slow because the people didn’t want to waste a lot of their money.
Hence, Nathan ordered, “Lyra. Get all the minerals, manuals, and cores for me, of course, including the three mutant cores and the elite core. I am not interested in the rest.”
“!!!” Lyra was surprised. There were only three types of items, but Nathan might use at least a few hundred million to acquire them.
Besides, a warrior class core already costs 5,000,000 Zel. If Nathan wanted an elite class cores, it wouldn’t just end with just ten times that price.
It might even reach 100,000,000 Zel due to its rarity.
Lyra’s expression turned solemn. “I will do my best.”
