Chapter 1141 - 1141: Sneaking into the City
“Go, go, go!” Evelyn pushed everyone away, having a hard time recovering from her embarrassment. The others were giggling.
Evelyn had been aloof for a long time, showing almost no emotion. It was probably the first time she had been this embarrassed.
It was something even Bella had never seen before, so she was quite enjoying the reaction. No wonder Mae was rather hesitant. Evelyn shouldn’t have asked about it.
Then again, she had accepted Nathan to a certain extent, so no one was really surprised that Evelyn and Nathan were connected.
She almost threw a tantrum, trying to send everyone away with her teleportation magic. Since they couldn’t push her further, they decided to go their own ways.
Of course, Nathan secretly reminded them to avoid misfortune. Although it was Evelyn’s misfortune, they might get entangled with it.
Besides, it might be a good idea to find out what kind of misfortune awaits Evelyn.
Once everyone was gone, Evelyn was glaring at Nathan. Nathan could only look away since he was innocent in this matter.
Evelyn, of course, understood that point and let out a long sigh. “So… what are we going to do now?”
“What else? We will head in the direction of that fortune thread. We can teleport there and have our date there.” Nathan smirked.
“…” Evelyn couldn’t say anything because the ‘date’ had a different meaning after the red thread of fate.
“Teleport until you can find a city in that direction. It would be good if a noble actually ruled that city.” Nathan shrugged.
“Ah!” Mae raised her head in realization. “An opportunity rarely comes, and you have to seize it when the opportunity comes. Don’t tell me… Master, you’re trying to do something that can create such an opportunity?”
“!!!” Evelyn was startled. If that was true, it meant Nathan’s plan was the opportunity itself. And the string of opportunity led to the person that allowed Nathan to materialize that opportunity. “What are you planning to do?”
Nathan shrugged while pouting. “Not telling. You didn’t trust me before, so I won’t say it.”
“…” Evelyn’s eyebrows twitched. At the same time, she felt a bit guilty. She originally believed in Nathan, but the way he acted earlier reminded her of all those nobles that dared to court her. “So, I just have to teleport in one direction.”
“Yes.” Nathan nodded.
“All right.” Evelyn sighed in defeat. She activated her magic carefully as they jumped several times.
After a total of eight small jumps, they actually found a big city. The city had towering walls surrounding it, and the shape was different. If they looked at it from above, they would find it to form a hexagram.
It was surrounded by ruined fields. These fields were originally farmland, but they had been reduced to nothing but a field for dumping ash.
Nathan squinted his eyes as though he was trying to examine the city, but ultimately, he summoned Mae and instructed her to hide Fenrir with her illusion before summoning Fenrir.
“Fenrir. Do you sense anything? Any danger from the city?”
Fenrir activated his instincts to the fullest before shaking her head. “There are a few dangers, but they’re not something that can kill you. At most, it’s the same as your level.”
After absorbing the alien cores they had gathered from this trip, Nathan’s ena had reached 1.3 million. It was good enough, but he needed to get more to transfer it to his divine beast to reach 1 million ena.
Still, the fact that there were arcane level summoners in this place was quite terrifying.
“Don’t forget that this continent’s human quality is lower than ours, so their true threat will increase when they summon their familiars.”
“Yes. I have taken them into account.” Fenrir nodded. “I’m not so foolish as to ignore that information.”
“I see.” Nathan thought for a moment. “Do you think we can infiltrate that place without making any sound?”
“It should be possible, but to be on the safe side, we should teleport to the edge of the city, the furthest point from that threat.”
“There are two threats.” Fenrir pointed to the left. “One is located on the far left, while the other is very far from here, most likely to be on the opposite side of the city.”
“In that case…” Evelyn glanced to the right of the city. She carefully crafted her magic circle as they teleported into the spot.
In just an instant, they entered the city with their backs against the wall. Evelyn hurriedly looked around, sensing the presence and finding no one coming to them.
“Looks like we’re safe,” confirmed Evelyn.
“That’s good.” Nathan nodded, feeling relieved.
“So, what are we going to do? Investigate the city?”
“What are you talking about? I have been telling you this is a date, so we’re going to have a date.” Nathan sighed. “And these clothes are in no way something used on a date.”
“…” Evelyn didn’t know how to react anymore.
As Nathan said, it was a date. The first thing they actually did was observe the people in the city, especially their clothes. Of course, they even spied on a clothing store to see what kind of clothes it had.
While the clothes on this continent didn’t look that much different, Nathan asked Mae to apply an illusion to both of them.
Nathan wore a white shirt and long blue pants coupled with a long blazer laced with golden stripes on the wrists and collar.
On the other hand, Evelyn was wearing a white blouse with long sleeves. Her frilled red skirt was knee-high, coupled with high boots. Last but not least, a black corset that gently blended the colors together.
Together, they looked like a couple of wealthy people. However, they weren’t as wealthy as nobles or top merchants, but they added a bit of modest detail to their outfits.
Nathan was entranced. This was probably the first time Evelyn had worn casual clothes. Even on the base, Evelyn just wore a plain one-color shirt and shorts or a short skirt. The only difference was the lack of high boots and mantle.
But with the sudden change, even Nathan was mesmerized by her appearance.
The only problem was actually the first place they visited in this city.
