Chapter 1099: Secret to Godhood
Chapter 1099: Secret to Godhood
“Kh…” Sonia gritted her teeth, having a hard time killing the aliens coming for the ship. The aliens weren’t even high level.
Most of them were just proto-class and juvenile class.
However, she still could see three mature class aliens among them. She had never fought in this environment.
She experienced three problems. The first one was the restriction of her movement. Thanks to the water, her speed was reduced tremendously. It was a big problem for her since her fighting style relied on her movement and stealth.
The second problem was the water pressure. It diminished the ena, so her attack weakened very quickly. The range of her attack decreased, and the consumption of her ena increased.
Last but not least, Kun. Yes, Kun was actually a problem. To fight the aliens, she had to go underwater. During that time, Kun continued moving. If Kun had to stop every time aliens came, they wouldn’t reach their destination even after a year.
So, Kun continued moving at the same speed. As a result, she had to keep up with Kun’s speed. Sometimes, she had to kill some aliens and then pushed herself into the air and kicked the air so that she could run in the air instead of the water to catch up to Kun before diving again.
Some other times, she would attach herself to Kun so that Kun would be pulling her along with the boat. But her balance was off most of the time due to the drag.
Fortunately, Kun swam without generating enough force to create a wave that disturbed them, allowing them to have a stable form around him.
Still, she had to solve all those three problems at the same time in order to fight underwater.
Fortunately, Evelyn paired her up with the second strongest person in their group, Revon. Although Revon was a rough guy, the utilization of his technique was exceptional.
In fact, he was the one who killed most aliens, giving Sonia time to find her way to deal with the three problems.
Since they were going to continue their journeys for days, she had to get used to it sooner or later. So, Sonia didn’t complain and just worked on the problems, hoping to figure out how to handle the water soon. Nathan also gave some insight into how to fight underwater based on his experience with Duchess Rena.
Meanwhile, Bella and Melissa used this time to discuss many things. Since Melissa wasn’t aware of everything, Bella began her story from the separation. That was why it took her a lot of time to reach the expedition topic.
Of course, Bella didn’t say anything about Nathan’s Soul Contract. Even when Melissa noticed the change in Evelyn’s name, she only said it was Evelyn’s matter, and Evelyn never said anything to her even though she had asked, which made Melissa give up figuring out what happened.
On the other hand, Neyeid and Christopher were watching Revon and Sonia. They, too, didn’t have any experience fighting in this environment. Neyeid’s skill wasn’t on par with Revon’s either.
So, they decided to learn from the first pair.
Meanwhile, Nathan, Evelyn, and Vivian discussed the most important thing.
“Nathan. Tell me everything you know about the alien we’re supposed to find!” Evelyn asked, her expression turning grim. In the end, she was concerned about the strength of this alien.
Nathan nodded. “Well, this is just a story I heard from Fenrir. He hasn’t confirmed himself, but since the other alien confirms its identity, I guess the story itself is pretty accurate.”
“Fenrir even has this kind of information? He’s a very resourceful familiar.” Vivian raised her eyebrows, wondering how much Fenrir actually knew.
Of course, there was no way Nathan could claim it was his knowledge. Still, Vivian was his teacher, and Evelyn was someone who was closer than a friend but not a lover.
Nathan explained, “You might have suspected this. Well, Evelyn heard it once accidentally. But Fenrir is a divine beast.”
“This is the first time I’ve heard about this. And my senior has heard it…” Vivian glanced at Evelyn.
Evelyn shrugged. “It happened. He certainly didn’t mean it back then.”
“Well…” Vivian sighed. “But since Fenrir is your first familiar, doesn’t that mean all your familiars…”
Nathan’s familiars were exceptionally strong, to the point where not a single one of them was losing to Fenrir in terms of quality. If Fenrir was a divine beast, his other familiars should be divine beasts as well.
Nathan nodded his head. “Yes. I guess I should introduce them. Fenrir is known as the monstrous wolf of Asgard. He is known to have devoured the lord of Asgard, known as Odin. He’s chained because people fear he will swallow the sun.”
“The sun?”
“To think Fenrir has that kind of power…”
Mae, beside him, explained, “That kind of power is rather a stretched terminology. This power is actually normal for divine beings. Actually, Miss Evelyn already has the qualification to become one.”
“Me?” Evelyn pointed at herself, confused.
“Yes.” Mae nodded. “Those who have become world class summoners actually have this qualification.
“Most of the time, they are called heroes.”
“Heroes?” Evelyn furrowed her eyebrows. “Do you mean like Mikhail Havengard?”
“I don’t know how strong he was. But what I mean by hero is a being who has surpassed the limit of humans and gradually turned into something divine.”
“!!!” Evelyn gasped. “Do you mean I have the qualification to become a god?”
“Yes. There are two ways of becoming gods and goddesses. The first one is to be born as one. The second one is to form your godhood. All of his familiars, including me, are the latter.”
“Godhood… I don’t know if that’s actually possible.”
“Of course. My master is bound to walk on that path in the near future. So I might as well provide you with some clues regarding godhood.
“All the gods and goddesses have one thing in common. That is Divinity.”
