Chapter 11: iPhone Given To Anna
Chapter 11: iPhone Given To Anna
She had expected Kai to take her shopping for gifts, but all she got was a bouquet. All her pent-up frustration now poured out on Ryan.
Ryan was taken aback, then said coldly, "Classmate Tina, happy birthday. I was just passing by. Don’t flatter yourself."
He pulled out the iPhone 17, glanced at it, "This useless thing is of no use now."
Tina’s eyes widened in disbelief. She had expected him to keep begging like always, but instead he was saying it was useless.
Kai got out of the car, handed the keys to the valet with a hundred-dollar tip, then walked over and sneered, "This simp just won’t quit, will he?"
"Following us all the way here. And buying an iPhone 17, bet it’s a knockoff."
"Tina, if it’s real, you should be touched. Maybe he sold blood, or even his ass, to buy you that gift."
Ryan let out a cold laugh and said flatly, "Keep your opinions to yourself. I’m not here for either of you. Don’t worry, I’ve got better things to do than waste my time on someone who doesn’t appreciate it."
Tina looped her arm through his and took the chance to remind him, "Kai, my phone’s broken anyway!!!"
This little bitch... won’t commit without seeing the goods. Her full chest was still a good distance from his arm, clearly leaving the simp some room to dream.
They were both old foxes, and Kai saw through her game easily.
Kai immediately leered, "That’s easy. After dinner, we’ll hit the mall. Pick whichever one you want, I’ll get it for you as a gift."
"Thanks, Kai!"
Tina said coquettishly.
The only reason Ryan had come to Brilliant Hotel was because he had seen Tina post in the group that she was celebrating her birthday here, clearly showing off. But now, he didn’t even want to look at her.
Having followed her all the way here, Ryan blocked their path again, but this time his tone was ice cold: "Just so we’re clear, I’m not here for you. Don’t worry, I’ve finally come to my senses."
"Ryan, you’re like a stubborn sticker."
"Who knows if that’s some cheap knockoff or refurbished junk? Please, stop embarrassing yourself."
Tina sneered dismissively.
Ryan didn’t even flinch. He just shrugged and said, "Good. Then we’re on the same page. Have a nice life."
By the time Ryan turned away without looking back, they were already inside the hotel and stepping into the elevator. Tina shot him one last glance, but Ryan didn’t even acknowledge it.
Anna had just arrived and watched the whole scene from the side, her eyes narrowing with interest.
If she were not about to meet her top donor, she would have cursed that Kai guy out and torn that Tina girl apart.
"Bro Aryan, I’m here. Where are you?"
She anxiously waited for her top donor’s reply.
Ryan picked up his phone, glanced at the message, and saw Anna standing nearby.
He walked straight over to her, a faint smile on his face, and said, "You’re here. Let’s go up."
Anna stared at Ryan, trembling, completely stunned, her voice faltering: "Wha... what do you mean!!!"
Ryan, calm and composed, just showed her the chat interface on his phone.
Poor Aryan... his name was Ryan, Videl’s number one simp. Or at least, he used to be.
Anna felt her world collapse. The top donor she had been dreaming about was this unkempt, rustic simp standing before her.
The two could not be more different. And he was famously broke.
His entire outfit probably cost less than one of her shoes. And this was the guy who had dropped 200,000 on her.
"Not coming?"
Ryan gave a small smile. "I told you you’d be disappointed. But that’s fine. I’m not here to impress anyone anymore."
He turned to leave, but Anna snapped out of it and grabbed his hand.
Her big, beautiful eyes wide, she said softly, "No, no, I’m just a little surprised."
The softness of her small hand sent a jolt through Ryan’s body, his first intimate contact with a woman, making him feel electrified and numb.
He stopped, still wearing that calm smile: "Don’t worry, my money isn’t stolen or anything."
"That’s... that’s not what I meant!!"
Anna’s eyes darted as she quickly said, "Ryan, I’ve never looked down on you. I’m just a bit caught off guard."
"I... I just feel bad. Even if you won the lottery, you shouldn’t spend like that."
Ryan had already lit a cheap cigarette, ten dollars a pack, just basic smokes.
Hearing her words, he was taken aback: "Lottery? What lottery???"
"Suddenly having that much money, didn’t you win the lottery??"
That was the only reasonable explanation Anna could think of, and she was also testing the waters.
Ryan chuckled, "You’ve got it wrong. I’m not that lucky. This is my own money."
Time to stop probing. She had confirmed his identity. No matter how shocked she was, he was still the top donor who had dropped two hundred thousand on her.
Could he be a real wealthy heir, deliberately keeping a low profile to experience life?
Yes, that had to be it. Otherwise, how could he casually blow 200K? No one who got rich overnight would spend it like that.
With that thought, Anna found the sloppy, rustic guy before her increasingly pleasing to the eye.
She had been foolish before, cannot be fooled by appearances. He was probably deliberately making himself look plain.
Looking closer, he was actually kind of handsome with a decent build, tall and sturdy, way better than that shorty Kai.
Anna, coming from an arts background, had always had great taste. Taking a closer look, she felt Ryan was definitely a rough diamond, with a little polish, he would be a real gem.
The magic of money was truly amazing. With that filter on, he looked better and better.
Anna gave a charming smile and gracefully extended her hand, saying, "Either way, I’m very happy to meet you, my dear top donor."
That smile of hers was absolutely enchanting. When it came to feminine allure, Tina was not even in the same league.
Ryan felt his heart racing instantly. He scratched his head sheepishly and said, "Classmate Anna, nice to meet you too."
Anna immediately closed the distance, shaking her head: "Just call me Anna."
The line was playful yet natural, effortlessly wrapping Ryan around her finger.
"Anna, you must be hungry too. Let’s eat here, I don’t feel like walking anymore."
Ryan glanced toward the elevator where Tina had disappeared, then looked away with indifference. She was nothing to him now.
Having witnessed the earlier scene, Anna giggled, "Of course. But don’t be upset, Kai is just a poser."
"His dad only gives him 8,000 a month for living expenses, and a credit card with a 15,000 limit that he doesn’t dare max out. Honestly, he’s a lot poorer than you."
Hearing that, Ryan’s eyes lit up with newfound confidence. As they walked inside, he said calmly, "I’m not upset. I finally realized she was never worth my time."
"I just can’t figure out what’s so great about Tina."
Anna gave a proud little hum.
It was not anything romantic, just a bright smile during military training that had sent Ryan into a one-sided infatuation. But that was all in the past now.
Ryan held up the phone box and said sheepishly, "I didn’t bring a proper gift. Here, this is for you, hope you don’t mind."
The phone box was something someone else had rejected.
Of course Anna minded inside, but she knew how to play it cool and provide emotional value.
She took the phone, let out a little "wow," and said with delight, "An iPhone 17! Perfect, my phone’s been acting up. Thank you!"
"As long as you like it!"
Ryan smiled, feeling lighter than he had in years.
Neither of them had ever been to a hotel as upscale as Brilliant Hotel. The moment they entered the lobby, a manager came over to greet them and guided them to look at the directory.
The five-star hotel had complete facilities, Western, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and the most luxurious rooftop garden restaurant.
"Let’s go with the garden restaurant then."
Ryan made the choice without hesitation.
"Sir, to maintain the dining atmosphere, our garden restaurant has limited space and is only open to VIP members."
The manager explained patiently, "Besides members, even reservations aren’t accepted. May I ask if you are a member of Brilliant Hotel?"
"I will be right now."
Ryan walked straight to the front desk. After a moment of thought, he asked, "Manager, what’s the highest amount a member has ever topped up here?"
The tier list was clearly displayed, 10,000 for Silver, 50,000 for Gold, 100,000 for Diamond. The membership card was valid across all hotel facilities.
"Sir, the record is 120,000."
Though the request was a bit odd, the manager, sticking to the service-first principle, had someone look it up.
When the membership registration form was brought over, Ryan handed it directly to Anna. She looked confused: "I’m filling this out??"
Ryan looked troubled and said, "Yeah, my handwriting is terrible."
It was such a childish excuse, clearly intentional. Anna could not help but laugh at how amusing it was. She took the form and filled in her name and phone number.
