Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)

Chapter 671: Grotesque Creature

Chapter 671: Grotesque Creature

Third Person’s POV

In fact, after seeing the stab wound on the grotesque creature’s arm, witnessing how it had suddenly materialized only after so many invisible attacks, and noticing that its strange beak somewhat resembled those of the invisible hunters he had fought off a few hours ago, Ethan was almost certain that this grotesque creature was related to those invisible monstrous herons in some way.

There were simply too many similarities for him to ignore.

As he remembered those creatures, Erius’s sudden exclamation after nearly being killed by those monsters resounded in his head.

’Dammit! Who are these creatures? The past records never mentioned anything like it.’

And judging by its action of saving that sheep demon just when he was on the cusp of finishing it, an unbelievable conjecture started to form in his mind.

However, he had no time to dwell upon it.

The grotesque, thin, deformed creature with the black heron’s beak suddenly turned its head to the side and looked toward the shocked and slightly relieved face of the sheep demon.

For a moment, neither creature said anything.

Then, the deformed creature suddenly began releasing strange croaking sounds mixed with noises resembling someone hiccupping.

KREUUKK—

Seeing this, Ethan frowned.

But after listening for a moment, he soon realized that the deformed creature was laughing at the kneeling and struggling sheep demon, which was desperately trying to heal the huge hole in its chest as copious amounts of blackish-red blood pooled beneath its body.

Listening to the mocking laugh, the sheep demon’s already ugly expression immediately darkened further.

Seeing the grotesque creature laugh at it, the sheep demon suddenly growled in anger.

"What are you laughing at, Trozon?"

Ethan frowned as he listened to their exchange.

The meaning his mind comprehended didn’t seem to match the words reaching his ears.

More precisely, their words sounded like strange gibberish to him, yet somehow, his mind was still able to comprehend the meaning behind their strange language.

The contradiction between what his ears were hearing and what his mind was understanding caused a strange and chaotic sense of incongruity to arise within him.

It was a bizarre sensation, one that Ethan couldn’t immediately explain.

However, he didn’t have the time to think about it any further.

Instead, he continued listening to their conversation while simultaneously taking the opportunity to catch his breath.

He had been running and fighting continuously for the last half an hour or so, and the prolonged battle was beginning to take its toll, especially on his ice mana reserves.

His muscles were also sore from enduring the constant streams of shockwaves produced by the sheep demon’s powerful attacks.

Every time their attacks collided, the tremendous force had traveled through his body, leaving his muscles aching from the accumulated strain.

He had not felt that during the battle due to his adrenaline rush and the heightened state of battle.

But now that he was feeling this, Ethan simply numbed that sensation with his ice mana and focused his attention on the conversation.

Hearing the demon’s question, the deformed creature named Trozon finally stopped laughing and said,

"I am laughing because of how stupid and weak you are, of course. Sometimes, I even wonder why the prince kept you by his side and even brought you to this realm."

"You not only sacrificed that bitch’s subordinates, but you still lost to this inferior creature who is only a lowly human, huh?"

"Are you even worth saving? I am sure if I let you die here, the prince would not even bat an eyelid."

Hearing this, Ethan’s expression didn’t change.

Instead, he intentionally showed a perplexed expression on his face, as if he couldn’t understand what was going on in front of him.

At the same time, he could feel a viper-like soul sense completely trained on his existence.

It originated from the deformed creature, Trozon, even though the creature didn’t seem to be looking in his direction while mocking the sheep demon.

Ethan remained perfectly still.

He continued to listen to their conversation, allowing his ice mana to circulate through his body and suppress the soreness in his muscles and bones.

His expression remained one of confusion, carefully hiding the fact that he could understand every word they were saying.

Whatever Trozon was doing, Ethan had no intention of drawing its attention to the fact that he had already noticed its soul sense.

For now, listening and gathering information about this situation was far more important

Rage filled the sheep demon’s eyes, but the moment it heard the word ’bitch,’ the rage within them gradually cooled down.

Clearly, many thoughts and emotions surged through the sheep demon’s mind at that moment.

However, it forcefully suppressed all of them.

It knew that this was not the time to let its anger get the better of it.

With a bitter expression on its face and its teeth gritted in humiliation, the sheep demon finally lowered its head slightly and said,

"I am sorry for showing you such a poor side of me, Lord Trozon. But I am currently not in a state where I can fight that impudent human."

"Please slay this impudent creature, and I will owe you a life saving favor."

As the sheep demon said this, the deformed creature named Trozon suddenly began cackling like a deranged lunatic.

"It’s good that you know your place, you lowly demon."

Hearing those words, the sheep demon’s teeth gritted even harder.

Its fists clenched tightly, and the humiliation burning within its chest almost erupted once again.

Back where it came from, sheep demons were considered an inferior species among demons.

They possessed low intelligence despite their large and physically powerful bodies, and were usually treated as nothing more than labor slaves by the stronger demon races.

However, this sheep demon was different from its brethren—or rather, from those pitiful creatures with whom it wanted no association.

From the moment it had gained consciousness, its mind had been far sharper than that of the other members of its race, and it had never accepted the fate that had been imposed upon its kind.
