Chapter 519 - 433: The Return of the "Water of Life", Part 2
Chapter 519: Chapter 433: The Return of the "Water of Life", Part 2
She ran home and looked in the mirror. Sure enough, her neck was covered in hickeys. Not just her neck, but her collarbone, her back...
However, when the hickeys still wouldn’t disappear even after she chugged several large gulps of spiritual water, Flora let out a furious roar.
"Lex Cross!"
’That guy had actually left a trace of his black energy in every single hickey. The spiritual water she drank to heal them was completely devoured by the consuming power within the black energy, yet the hickeys remained, utterly unchanged.’
Flora put on a high-collared shirt and spent the whole day viciously cursing a certain villainous man, planning to settle the score with him when he got back.
But who would have thought that when Flora got home that evening, Lex Cross would greet her with an eager-to-please expression, holding a glass of milk and a slice of cake Jade had made.
"Flora, you’re back? Have some milk and cake first."
Dinner in Villa Three had always been a large family affair, eaten together. But now, with more and more people living in the villa, continuing to eat together was putting a lot of pressure on Ethan Monroe and Jade, the two regular cooks.
On top of that, everyone was busy with their own things every day, and their dinner times varied greatly. So, after some discussion, they decided that each household would handle its own dinner arrangements.
The task of making dinner for Flora’s household fell to Jade. Cooking for five people, including Lex Cross, was still quite relaxed. Polly’s baby food, however, was always personally prepared separately by Flora.
Her younger brother, Joel Bloom, was still out with Sherman Lynch discussing the details of their attack on the zombie stronghold and hadn’t returned yet. After leaving dinner for him, the others in the house began to return to their own rooms.
After feeding Polly Cross, Flora watched her run out to play with the Nightmare Beast. She then hastily ate a little herself and finished up.
After Lex Cross finished eating, he, for the first time ever, offered to help Jade clear the table and wash the dishes, only to be dragged out by Flora.
"Flora, you child! You’re a mother now, how can you still be so reckless! What kind of behavior is that!"
Jade sternly criticized Flora for grabbing Lex Cross’s clothes and yanking him away.
So, faced with Jade’s scolding and a threatening glare from her father, Caleb Bloom, in the living room, Flora shot a warning look at Lex Cross. "I’ll deal with you later!"
Flora had been thinking of finding Cynthia Grant to go for a walk, but she saw Lex Cross approaching her with his long-legged stride.
"I thought a certain someone did something bad and wouldn’t dare face me!"
Lex Cross handed her a glass of water, a smile growing on his face. "Me?"
Flora took a big gulp. "Well, isn’t it you?!"
"What did I do?"
Flora tilted her neck up and pointed to her collarbone. "You... You made Cynthia and the others see this first thing in the morning!"
Lex Cross’s smile didn’t fade. He walked over to Flora, stopped, and slowly leaned in. "Since you think I’m so bad... you can punish me however you want. I won’t mind."
As Lex Cross got closer, Flora wrinkled her nose. "Ew! You stink! Where did you guys go today? What is that smell!"
It wasn’t just a stink; there was a strange odor hidden beneath it. And Flora was sure she had smelled it before, she just couldn’t place it at the moment.
After leaning in, Lex Cross bent his knees to bring himself to eye level with Flora and held his arm out in front of her.
"I got hurt today, too..."
Flora’s gaze followed his arm, and her brows furrowed. There were several bright, braid-like lash marks. The long marks even extended onto his back and chest.
"A plant-based life-form?"
Lex Cross nodded. "Yeah."
But Flora’s eyes were fixed on a hole in the fabric on Lex Cross’s shoulder.
The edges of the hole were smooth, and the fabric fibers gave off a pungent smell, as if they had been melted by high heat.
And from this hole, there was a distinct, fluctuating energy residue. ’That energy... it’s like the energy left after an attack from Three-Eyes’s third eye.’
"Where did you go today? These injuries of yours are so strange..."
Lex Cross’s eyes shifted. "A powerful evolved creature, and an evolved plant-based life-form."
"An evolved creature that could injure you... just how powerful must it be?"
Lex Cross went along with what Flora said. "It’s fine. It’s already been taken care of."
Flora pouted and sighed to herself. "Fine. Seeing as you were on your best behavior today, and you even got hurt, I won’t hold it against you!"
Flora turned to leave but was suddenly pulled back by Lex Cross, who lowered his head and gave her a fierce kiss.
When it came to stealing the oxygen from her mouth, Lex Cross was like a self-taught genius, his lung capacity simply unbelievable. He didn’t let her go until she was holding her breath and on the verge of suffocating.
"I knew it. Flora does care about me after all."
Flora pouted and shot a glare at Lex Cross. "I’m going to go get your daughter now. Playing wild outside all day... I wonder who she takes after!"
