Shion understood that when it comes to Genjutsu, Yakumo is the most talented among all the graduating trainees. ‘It’s a race against time… if she completes the seals immediately and subjects me into her Genjutsu earlier than I manage to defend against it, then the one defeated would be me since Yakumo-chan’s Genjutsu can distort reality and give physical damage… but luckily for me… I know exactly the medium she is going to use and the Genjutsu she is going to use!’ thought Shion as her lavender eyes changed into violet ornate pupils.

The moment she ‘observed’ Yakumo with her Dōjutsu activated, the approach Yakumo would be using appeared in her mind, ‘I see… so it’s going to be…’

At this moment, the referee signaled the start of the match, declaring, “Begin!”

Yakumo immediately distanced herself from her opponent while weaving the hand seal, then pointed her finger at Shion from which a faded purple wave was released, ‘Genjutsu: Unknown Fire!’

Because the Genjutsu used by Yakumo was a visual Genjutsu, the cover of smoke made it impossible for it to take effect. Understanding the countermeasure–the smoke bomb–used by Shion, Yakumo knew that she had to either change her approach, or clear the smoke, and of course, changing her approach was the best option, and she prepared herself to use an auditory Genjutsu.

Flick!Yakumo flicked her fingers, hoping that the Genjutsu would take effect from the sound that the ‘flick,’ had created, and perhaps it did because the movement on the other side had stopped, but perhaps she had expected too much, by the time smoke cleared, the scene she had expected did not appear, instead, she noticed intricate black markings on the ground that glowed in a violet color from which hundreds of violet ropes materialized and rushed toward her, ‘Adamantine Seal: Cocoon Bondage Technique!’

Before Yakumo had any opportunity to dodge or resist the ropes, they wrapped around her from head to toe in the form of a cocoon, completely restricting her movement such that she couldn’t even speak or see, let alone weave hand signs to use her Genjutsu.

With that the match concluded, and Shion released the Fuinjutsu setting Yakumo free. Realizing that she was defeated, Yakumo sighed, “It seems I lost…”

Shion smiled and raised her arm to form the Seal of Reconciliation while saying, “Let’s fight again sometime… when neither of us is exhausted…”

Yakumo nodded, “Yes,” and she too raised her arm to form the Seal of Reconciliation after which the two Kunoichi left the arena.

“Since Kurama Yakumo is unable to continue, the winner of this match is Shion-hime!”

Hearing the announcement, Shisui sighed regretfully, “Sigh, Yakumo-chan was defeated, huh? But I guess her performance so far is enough, she has already done more than I had expected, so even if she did not win, it doesn’t matter.”

Different from Kurama Yakumo’s Genjutsu, Shion’s skill set is more complicated to deal with, when it comes to Fuinjutsu, brute forcing is not the way, of course, using complex Fuinjutsu requires time and preparation so Shion wouldn’t be able to use anything too complicated either, however, the seals she has used so far to defeat her opponents are also not something easy to counter.

It wasn’t just Kakashi, the other observant people in the arena including Shisui, Itachi, Elder Hiruzen, and Jiraiya had also noticed that something was odd about Shion’s matches, however, they were unable to reach a solid conclusion.

If she were to remove the seal placed upon her by her Mother, she would be able to awaken her angelic powers that have been dormant within her body, and upon uniting with her demonic half, Mōryō, not only would she be able to gain more skills like being able to affect others’ soul, and command the Ghost Army, she would also be able to control Natural Energy.

But of course, that is something to look forward to in the future, the current Shion is definitely not capable of such feats, the most she can do with her current set of skills is use a wide variety of Fuinjutsu, and look up to ten seconds in the future to counter her opponents’ attack and stay a few steps ahead of them in a fight.

So, whether Shion will be able to dominate the fight against Uchiha Sasuke, or she will lose against, that is something Kuroto is looking forward to.

After the fight between Shion and Kurama Yakumo, the matches resumed, it was the last round, and even though most of the trainees were tired, they were still eager to go at it.
