Chapter 960: Naruto’s Vow
As Naruto got into bed, Yui helped him with the quilt and said, “Good night, Naruto-kun!”
“Good night, Yui-nee-san!” Naruto cheerfully replied, preparing to sleep.
Just as Kuroto and Yui were about to leave, Naruto suddenly spoke up, “Sensei, in the graduation exam in three days, I’m going to take the first position!”
Kuroto teased Naruto, “Boy, you have always been at the bottom of the barrel, do you think you’ve become strong enough for that?”
“Kuroto-kun?!” Yui shot Kuroto a glare, causing him to stop teasing Naruto.
In a serious tone, Naruto continued, “Sensei, I can feel that I’ve become much stronger now that I’ve mastered ‘Rasengan’ and ‘Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu,’ along with some Taijutsu techniques. I don’t want to let your teachings go to waste. So, in the upcoming exam, I’m going to defeat both Sasuke and Neji and secure the first place!”
Listening to Naruto’s serious tone, Kuroto was taken aback. He could sense that Naruto was speaking sincerely, and it surprised him. Kuroto hadn’t expected that his efforts in teaching and caring for Naruto over the past few months would have such a profound impact on the young ninja.
From the beginning, Kuroto’s goal was to ensure Naruto became strong enough to defend himself against most members of the Akatsuki Organization. In pursuit of this goal, he did whatever was necessary. Little did he know that these seemingly small actions had already carved out an irreplaceable place for Kuroto in Naruto’s heart.
Upon reflection, it all adds up. Naruto is deprived of love and care from his childhood, making Kuroto’s little acts of kindness profoundly meaningful to him. Thanks to Kuroto, Naruto now understands the essence of a family, and he’s determined not to let Kuroto’s efforts go in vain or cause any regret.
After a moment of silence, Kuroto regained his composure and grinned. “Naruto-kun, you’re not the only one who’s progressed in the past seven months. Others have improved too. So, if you’re going to fulfill your promise, you’ve got to work really hard and can’t let your guard down!”Kuroto consistently kept a watchful eye on all the children at the Konoha Ninja Academy, with a particular focus on individuals like Sasuke, Neji, Rock Lee, Shion, Mika, and Yakumo. It’s evident that Sasuke and Neji represent different forms of genius. While Neji’s upper limit may not surpass Sasuke’s, his innate talent is notably superior. The guidance of Kakashi and Itachi over the past seven months has only heightened their strengths.
On the other hand, Naruto and Rock Lee embody hard-working geniuses with impressive upper limits. Naruto, in particular, stands out as the reincarnation of Asura and the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, giving him the highest upper limit among his peers. Of course, Rock Lee is diligently honing his skills under the guidance of Might Guy.
Shion refuses to be left behind. While Kuroto may not be directly training her, the regimen she follows has been meticulously designed by him. Under the guidance of Yui, Izumi, and Naomi, Shion’s demeanor is evolving into that of a Kunoichi. Among all the kunoichi in training, she stands out with the best talent, surpassing even Kurama Yakumo, Shimizu Mika, Uchiha Kiyomi, Hinata Hyuga, and Haruno Sakura.
In a surprising turn of events, Shion has captured the attention of Tsunade-hime, who has expressed a keen interest in personally mentoring her.
Apart from Kuroto, no one in the Shinobi World comprehends the true potential residing within Shion. Despite the remarkable talent she currently displays, few are aware that this is happening under the constraints of the Fuinjutsu her mother imposed on her before her death, sealing her Miko powers completely. Shion’s mother once confided in Kuroto, asserting that among all the generations of Miko, Shion possesses the highest talent, a statement not to be taken lightly.
Should the Fuinjutsu her mother applied to be lifted, the chakra and natural energy she can access and use would rival that of a high-tier-tailed beast. Additionally, she inherits various Onmyōdō techniques from her mother that, if employed in battle, would further elevate her strength.
And there’s even more potential to unlock. Once Shion absorbs the demon Mōryō, purifying its malice and gaining complete control over its powers, she will become legendary Miko from the times of the Sage of Six Path, and her upper limit might rival that of Naruto and Sasuke!
Although Kuroto can’t be certain, Shion does appear to harbor the potential to reach the realm of the Six Paths Level. To be frank, other than Karin, no kunoichi in the current Shinobi World can match Shion in terms of potential.
However, the risk associated with absorbing Mōryō is substantial for the current Shion, which is why it will take some time before she can attempt it.
Certainly, Kurama Yakumo and Shimizu Mika should not be overlooked. While their individual potential may not reach the heights of Karin and Shion, they stand as two of the most talented kunoichi in Konoha’s history.
Yakumo, inheriting the dangerous Kekkei Genkai of the Kurama Clan, possesses a formidable ability. She can reflect physical damage to a person’s body through Genjutsu, to the extent of causing death. In the Kurama Clan’s history, no child has displayed the level of talent that Yakumo possesses. She has the capability to cast her Genjutsu over the entire Konohagakure, potentially annihilating everyone–except for a select few dozen people who are far too strong for her to deal with on her own–in the village if she so desires.
While the presence of ‘Ido’ within Yakumo’s mind posed a challenge, Kuroto and Shisui swiftly addressed this issue, freeing Yakumo in the process.
Yakumo faces another hurdle in her relatively low physical strength. However, Kuroto has directed Shisui to assist her in overcoming this limitation, ensuring that her lack of physical strength won’t be a hindrance. Although mastery in Ninjutsu might not be her forte, Yakumo has been actively training in physical strength and Taijutsu, aiming to strengthen this aspect of her abilities.
Now under the guidance of the most talented and best Genjutsu user in Konoha, the upper limits of her potential are challenging to fathom.
Similarly, Shimizu Mika, though her background remains largely unknown to many in Konoha, including Elder Hiruzen and the members of the Elder Council, Tsunade-hime, Kuroto is fully aware that she is a descendant of the Senju Clan born with a unique Kekkei Genkai. This exceptional ability allows her to shape-shift her body into any form she desires.
Mika essentially functions as a weapon encapsulated in the body of a young girl. This is the primary reason why Shimura Danzō kept her in the Root and extensively researched her Kekkei Genkai. After being rescued by Itachi and Naomi, she has been living in Konoha, attending the Ninja Academy on the brighter side of things. Simultaneously, on the darker side, her aunt Naomi has been consistently training her in the lethal art of assassination.
Before defecting from Root and seeking refuge under Kuroto, Naomi held a prominent position as one of the top officers in Root. As a result, her strength is exceptional, and despite Mika being her niece, Naomi has never shown mercy in her training. Consequently, Mika’s strength has reached an incredibly high level.
Throughout the past year at the Konoha Ninja Academy, Mika has never had the chance to fully showcase her strength. Given her unique Kekkei Genkai, Kuroto is well aware that she poses a formidable challenge as an opponent. If Mika were to master her Kekkei Genkai entirely, there’s no doubt she would emerge as one of the deadliest kunoichi in existence.
Apart from the individuals mentioned earlier, there are several other exceptionally talented children set to graduate this year. Among the boys, there’s Nara Shikamaru, Aburame Shino, Sai, and Shin, while the girls include Uchiha Kiyomi, Hinata Hyuga, Haruno Sakura, and Yamanaka Ino.
This year’s graduating class is brimming with extraordinary talent. For Naruto to emerge on top, he’ll need to invest a considerable amount of effort and strategic thinking. Despite the challenging competition, Naruto seems aware of this reality, yet he is determined to face it fearlessly, flashing a bright smile. “It doesn’t matter how difficult it is; I will do it no matter what!”
Kuroto, with a smirk, responded, “Heh, is that so?” He then playfully ruffled Naruto’s hair, adding, “In that case, I look forward to seeing the results of your training and the progress you make during the graduation exam.”
