Reborn into Naruto World with Tenseigan

Chapter 956: New Puppets

Seven Months Later

While Konoha remained relatively peaceful in the past seven months, the situation in the Shinobi World was as chaotic as it could be. Kumogakure, Kirigakure, and Iwagakure exerted all possible efforts to locate the new base of the Akatsuki Organization and rescue the Jinchuriki captured by Akatsuki. Konohagakure and Sunagakure also actively participated in the search, given the alliance formed among the five great shinobi villages against Akatsuki.

In addition to assisting Kumo, Kiri, and Iwa in the search for Akatsuki’s traces, Konoha also sought leads on Danzō. It had been over a year since the acting Hokage Danzō defected from Konoha, creating havoc throughout the Shinobi World before disappearing. Unfortunately for Konoha, their search for any traces of Shimura Danzō remained fruitless.

In addition to the search for Shimura Danzō, Konoha initiated efforts to locate Hyūga Aoki. However, this operation was exclusively conducted by members of the Hyūga Clan. Aoki’s demise has not been disclosed to the clan, leading the main family to believe he is still alive. They are actively seeking him, fueled by the hope of recovering the Tenseigan.

The search efforts extended to the Uchiha Clan as well. Some clan members are determined to trace the whereabouts of Amatsukami, aiming to reclaim their former patriarch’s Mangekyou Sharingan, which was taken away on an unfortunate night seven months ago. While they no longer harbor intentions of rebellion or initiating a coup d’état, their desire is for Fugaku to live out his retirement peacefully. Hence, they aspire to retrieve his stolen Dōjutsu.

With the extensive intelligence collection and search, missions carried out in the past seven months, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that shinobi specializing in intelligence gathering was the most active and earned the most. Even the black market, which was completely rooted out and annihilated by the joint efforts of the Five Great Shinobi Villages, has shown signs of recovery due to the extensive demand for intelligence and shinobi specializing in gathering it.

It’s a pity that, despite all the effort and funds invested in these search operations, there were no substantial results, and it all turned out to be a fruitless endeavor.

In the new base of the Akatsuki Organization

Ahhhh! Ahhhh!

A heart-wrenching scream traveled through several layers of rock walls, reaching the ears of Hidan, who had just returned to the base after an intelligence-gathering mission. Hearing the painful scream, Hidan’s ears perked up in a cruel smirk as he muttered, “It appears that Sasori is once again doing that thing, what does he call it?”

“Turning living people into his puppets,” answered Kakuzu with a sigh. He added, “Let him do what he wants; it has nothing to do with us,’ then sat on one of the tables, taking out a small box filled to the brim with paper bills. Every time he went on an intelligence-gathering mission, Kakuzu made sure to return with funds. While his primary source of income was still bounty hunting, he now earned money using a disguise with the help of the White Zetsu Clone. This creation could perfectly impersonate anyone, making it an ideal tool for Kakuzu to continue his activities without attracting too much-unwanted attention.

Unlike Kakuzu, Hidan wasn’t so indifferent; he continued to pay attention to the scream. After a while, he couldn’t help but question with a doubtful expression, “Ne, Kakuzu, why does this scream sound so familiar? It’s as if I have heard this voice many times!”

Kakuzu nodded, “It doesn’t,” and after a moment of silence, he added, “That’s because this is the scream of the Jinchuriki of the Two Tails. It seems like the plan is going on smoothly.”

Hidan also realized, “Now that you mention it, this is indeed the scream of that woman, Yugito Nii. If Sasori has already started to work on her, it means that Nagato has finally made up his mind and allowed Sasori to work on the Jinchuriki.”

Kakuzu nodded absentmindedly, “Hmm,” as he was busy counting the number of paper bills.

Deep inside the base

Beside the operating table, Sasori wiped his hands clean of blood, then gazed at his masterpiece with an excited expression and declared, “It’s completed!”

Although he still looked the same, there now resided a pair of distinct white eyes in his eye sockets—eyes only known to be possessed by members of the Hyūga Clan as their Kekkei Genkai. Yes, Sasori currently had a pair of Byakugan inside his eye sockets.

These were the very same Byakugan that once belonged to Hyūga Aoki’s puppet. Kuroto had left the puppet behind after programming it for self-destruction in a previous confrontation with Nagato to damage the Akatsuki Organization.

Considering the scale of the explosion caused by the overload of chakra inside the puppet, the pair of Byakugan in its eye sockets should have been destroyed along with the rest of the puppet’s body. However, that did not happen. The reason being, that when Aoki commissioned Sasori to create the puppet, he specifically made a requirement for the protection of the eyes at all costs.

According to Aoki’s requirements, Sasori had implanted an enchantment in the puppet’s eye sockets to safeguard the pair of eyes from all forms of damage. Thanks to this enchantment, the pair of Byakugan suffered no harm despite the scale of the explosion. Now, Sasori had replaced his own eyes with the pair of Byakugan obtained from the remains of Aoki’s puppets, enhancing his proficiency in the art of turning people into puppets.

Not far from Sasori, ‘Madara’ stood with his arms folded over his chest, Sharingan focused on the operating table, accurately assessing Yugito Nii’s body.

At this moment, Nagato questioned ‘Madara,’ “How is it?”

After a prolonged silence, ‘Madara’ nodded lightly, “All the seals are placed brilliantly. There shouldn’t be any problem.”

Sasori grinned proudly and looked at Nagato, “Didn’t I tell you, something like this is not at all a problem for me!”

Nagato nodded indifferently, then walked toward the Jinchuriki lying on the operating table.

The painful cries that Hidan and Kakuzu had heard earlier had stopped, and now Yugito Nii was quiet as a stone with hollow eyes. It was as if she had lost her soul and become a puppet.

Sasori continued, “No one understands a human’s body better than me; the plan I designed is bound to work!”

Nagato questioned, “Can I turn her right now?”

Sasori nodded, “Of course. Physically, she is still alive; however, she won’t be able to function or form any coherent thought, nor would she be able to get in contact with the Jinchuriki sealed inside her.”

“What is it that I have to do?” asked Nagato as he observed the state of Yugito Nii up close using his Rinnegan.

Sasori answered Nagato’s doubts, “All you have to do is insert your Black Receiver at the marked location, and you will be able to turn her into one of the Six Paths of Pain, fully controlling her as well as the Jinchuriki inside her with your Rinnegan.”

“I see,” muttered Nagato in understanding as he raised his hand to create a Black Receiver, planning to insert it inside Nii’s chest at the valley between her breasts.

At this time, ‘Madara’ questioned, “Nagato, which path of pain do you plan on turning her into?”

Nagato replied, “The Human Path.”

“Human Path, huh?” mumbled ‘Madara,’ a smile creeping onto his lips, “As expected.”

Among the ‘Six Paths of Pain,’ the ‘Human Path’ is capable of extracting others’ souls and reading their memories. Since Yugito Nii is a nimble Kunoichi, she seems to be a good choice to become the Human Path.

With that decided, Nagato took another step forward and inserted the Black Rod at the spot marked by Sasori.
