The Forest of White Bones continued to spread to the surroundings like a plague, it attracted the attention of almost everyone in the nearby area, and in the center of this bone forest, Gamabunta kept swinging his Tantō to destroy the Forest of Bones while rapidly moving across the field at a speed not expected of his size.

Gamabunta’s slashes were sharp, swift, and contained a lot of raw power. Although Gamabunta is very powerful as a Summon, defense is not his strongest suit. Naturally, Sasuke also understood this and knew that unless he neutralized Kimimaro, he could not win this fight, so he focused on finding Kimimaro hidden inside the forest of Bones.

With a naked eye, it’s impossible to locate a user of Shikotsumyaku while they are hidden within the Forest of Bone they have created, however, Sasuke believed that with the insight of his Sharingan and with its ability to see Chakra, he should be able to spot Kimimaro.

But of course, the forest of bones is also the result of Kimimaro’s Chakra, so spotting Kimimaro’s specific position in that forest of bones is not easy either.

A few seconds passed and Sasuke suddenly noticed something, ‘There he is…!’ and shouted while weaving the hand signs, “Gamabunta-sama!”

“Go for it, boy!” nodded Gamabunta as he leaped high into the sky while expanding his stomach and cheek pouched, and then released a jet of Toad oil from his mouth in Sasuke’s direction.

The jet of toad oil was extremely fast and instantly covered the distance. Looking at the jet of Toad Oil under him, Sasuke also released the hot flames brewing in his throat, ‘Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu!’

The hot flames released by Sasuke boiled the toad oil at an extremely high temperature and produced the combined Jutsu, ‘Fire Style: Toad Flame Bomb!’ that instantly swallowed a section of the forest of bones and vaporized it.

‘Did it work?’ thought Sasuke looking at the section of bone forest vaporized by Toad Flame Bomb. He noticed that the moment Toad Flame Bomb landed on the Forest of Bone, the growth and spread of the Bone Forest seemed to have come to a sudden stop, which should mean that the attack landed on Kimimaro, right?

But that’s not the case because Sasuke saw a Giant White Bone Spear suddenly rise from the ground and at the top of that Bone spear appeared the figure of Kimimaro.

Seeing the appearance of Kimimaro, both Sasuke was stunned for a moment because the ninja that appeared out of the boiling oil was different from the Kimimaro he remembered. His appearance was twisted with dark grey skin, dark black eye sclerae, yellow eye irises, sharp teeth, six large bone spines protruding out of his back, a long bone-spiked tail, and two dark black curved-like markings under his eyes — one under each eye and two as elongated eyebrows — one above each eye. Clearly, he looked like some monster rather than a human being.

‘It’s a similar Jutsu as the other Otogakure Genins used… but this one…’ thought Sasuke with a frown.

At this time Gamabunta warned, “Sasuke, stay vigilant of this ninja… I am able to sense Natural Energy from him.”

“Natural Energy?” Sasuke was shocked, and quickly asked, “You mean to tell me he is using Sennin Mode?”

Gamabunta shook his head, “It’s not Sennin Mode, it’s too imperfect and crude to be Sennin Mode… it is some other kind of application of Natural Energy, and I am not sure of how he has mastered such a method of controlling Natural Energy… but he is using Natural Energy… this Kaguya boy is dangerous, so you better not let down your guard…”

“Understood,” nodded Sasuke staring at Kimimaro.

After leaning out of the Bone Spear, Kimimaro looked at Uchiha Sasuke standing atop the head of Gamabunta, and spoke softly, “Uchiha Sasuke… it turns out that you are indeed different from others.”

“Humph… the fact you compare me to others is enough to make me look down upon you!” scowled Sasuke. In fact, his mood was not as calm as he appeared to be because he had to rely on Gamabunta to fight Kimimaro otherwise he would be overwhelmed!

Ignoring Sasuke’s scowl, he added, “You are worthy of my all-out efforts!” As Kimimaro finished speaking, his Chakra pressure suddenly skyrocketed, and airwaves were generated around him.

“What the hell? How does he have such high Chakra Reserves!?” mumbled Sasuke trying to resist the airwaves generated by Kimimaro’s Chakra. Sasuke did not want to admit it, but he was instinctively feeling a little uneasy.

Cough!

Suddenly, Kimimaro coughed, which was completely unexpected, and what was more unexpected was that blood also came out while he coughed.

Sasuke narrowed his eyes as various doubts appeared in his mind, “Is he injured? Is it because of an internal injury? No, that doesn’t seem to be the case… so why did he cough out blood? “Alright… if that’s the case…” mumbled Sasuke as he looked at Kimimaro, ‘Chidori Current!’ Instantly, lightning flashed around him as he disappeared from the top of Gamabunta’s head and charged at Kimimaro while unsheathing his Kusanagi Sword, ‘Chidori Katana!’

‘Dance of the Clematis: Vine!’ Kimimaro instantly removed his spine and used it as a whip sword to defend against Sasuke’s lightning-cloaked Kusanagi Sword.

Clang!

A loud sound echoed as Chidori Katana and Bone Whip Sword clashed together. While their swords clashed, Sasuke looked Kimimaro in the eye and spoke, “Since there is something wrong with your body, then this fight should be ended here and now, don’t you think? I wouldn’t want to defeat you at your weakest.”

Kimimaro shook his head, “Don’t bother with Genjutsu, I have methods to counter it… and…” he added, “I don’t have much time left, before I die, I wish to complete this mission.”

At this time, Gamabunta spoke, “Sasuke, leap back!” and waved his Tantō to cut off the giant Bone Spear that Kimimaro was leaning out of.

‘Genjutsu really did not work…’ thought Sasuke as he leaped back and landed on Gamabunta’s Tantō. Upon landing on the Tantō, he applied Chakra under his feet to stick himself on the Tantō then ran on the blade while wondering to himself, ‘What the hell is he on about the Mission?’

Just as Gamabunta cut off the Bone Spear, Kimimaro lost his footing and began to fall, and Sasuke used that opportunity once again to attack Kimimaro. Leaving behind a trail of lightning, he jumped from the Tantō and attacked Kimimaro with a Chidori Sharp spear, but before the attack could connect, suddenly, an orange figure appeared in the trajectory of his Chidori Sharp Spear.

“Naruto?” Recognizing the identity of the figure, Sasuke had to stop the attack halfway, lest he would end up injuring the blondie–although the chances of that happening were quite low since Naruto is the host of the Nine-tails–he had to stop nonetheless. What surprised Sasuke was the fact that Naruto was covered in the tailed beast Chakra that he is not too unfamiliar with, and wondered, ‘Has he lost control?’

Although Naruto has never lost control over his tailed beast, he is not a perfect Jinchuriki either. Therefore, Sasuke wasn’t sure whether Naruto still had a sense of his surroundings or had he gone berserk.

‘It would be troublesome if he has lost control at such a crucial time…’

While Sasuke was doubtful, Naruto collided with Kimimaro and both of them fell into the bone forest together leaving the young Uchiha somewhat confused and speechless.

“Narutoooo!” shouting loudly, Garaga slithered behind Naruto and stopped beside Gamabunta.

Seeing Garaga, Sasuke landed back on Gamabunta’s head, and asked, “Did Naruto lose control?”

“Nah, he is perfectly fine… it’s just the Ice kid…” replied Garaga while pointing at the region covered with Ice and mist not too far away. The Giant Snake then looked at cuts and wounds on Gamabunta’s body and taunted, “Heh, so the chief toad of Mount Myōboku is just this? He is not even capable of dealing with a kid using Shikotsumyaku? Talk about pathetic! Perhaps the only good thing you can do is become my nutrition…”

Gamabunta sneered, “Seeing that you are still fine I am kind of disappointed, and here I was hoping to take back an Ice sculpture to Mount Myōboku with me after this battle. It would have been a great memento…”

“You want a go, useless toad?” Garaga scowled as he opened his mouth to show his fangs.

“I don’t mind making sure that your body becomes permanently cold!” snorted Gamabunta as he drew his Tantō closer.

Not caring about the bickering between Garaga and Gamabunta, Sasuke sighed in relief, ‘At least Naruto hasn’t lost control.’ As for how he was maintaining control over the Nine-tail’s Chakra, that’s something he couldn’t care about too much right now, he would discuss that with Naruto and Kakashi after they were done with the second phase of the Chunin Promotion Exam.

Shaking his head, Sasuke focused back on the battlefield, and frowned, ‘Now why the hell is he fighting against Kimimaro… he is my opponent!’

After Naruto collided with Kimimaro and both fell into the bone forest, they started to fight each other and this greatly irked Sasuke, “Naruto get away from him!” He was about to jump into the bone forest to take back his fight from Naruto, but before he could suddenly, a chill appeared around him followed by a rain of Ice needles.
