Followed by the sound, the forest was hit by the Shockwaves and storm.

Looking from the bird’s eye view, the part of the forest within the Four Purple Flame Formation appeared as if a giant stone had been dropped into a pond with still water. Like ripples shockwaves originating from the center spread across all the directions.

Even the four Elite Jōnins who had used the Four Purple Flame Formation were finding it very difficult to hold the Formation as the shockwaves constantly hit the purple flame barrier.

It wasn’t until a minute or so later that the shockwaves subsided and smoke cleared.

“Haaah… Haaah…” With smoke rising from all over his body, Darui climbed out from a two-meter-deep pit. There were burn marks all over his body, and his entire body was constantly trembling.

“Cough… puke…” He had only taken a few steps until he puked out blood and collapsed on his knees.

“Almost… almost died there…” This was the closest he had come to death in his life and couldn’t help but feel scared.

“Had I not redirected that Lightning into the ground, I would have definitely died there…” muttered Darui as looked at the melted metal bubbling in front of him. At the moment Raijin’s White Lightning Dragon was about to strike him, Darui stuffed the metal pole into the ground. Metals are good conductors of Lightning, especially natural lightning that is not the result of a Shinobi’s Chakra, as a result, it is possible to save oneself from Lightning Strikes by using metallic rods. Darui used this knowledge to redirect Raijin’s attack into the ground and save himself.

Of course, the heat generated by Raijin’s attack was also too much. Seeing no movement on the other side, Darui sighed, “A pity…” and muttered while shaking his head, “But I guess that solves the problem for the village…”

Just as these words left Darui’s mouth, suddenly a figure crawled out of the bit and spoke, “Don’t be so sure…”

Darui raised his head and looked at the figure in shock. It was none other than Raijin!

However, it was difficult to tell whether it was Raijin since the mask he was wearing was no longer on his face and most of his clothes had burnt or melted as the fibers were stuck on his body. There were also dozens of small and large wounds most of them being red and black burns along with swellings in various regions, and of course, his face… at some parts it looked so dry as if a dried wood, and on the other, it was swelled up.

Overall, Raijin looked so grotesque that it was impossible to categorize him as a human!

But Darui did not care about Raijin’s appearance, he had a more important doubt in his mind as he questioned in disbelief, “You… you are alive?”

Raijin collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily, but there was a smile on his grotesque face, “Well, I almost died there…”

“Then how… how did you survive?” questioned Darui, there was no way Raijin should be alive!

At the moment his Black Lightning Wolf descended down to the battlefield, Darui did not see Raijin use any metal rod or something else to redirect the Lightning away from him which meant that he was directly struck by his attack. Getting directly struck by that kind of attack is enough to cause death… heck, he wouldn’t even be surprised if Raijin’s body had directly exploded because of the water in his body rapidly evaporating due to immense heat generated at the moment of strike.

But the fact is, not only his body did not explode, but he was alive in front of him.

This had to be some kind of miracle, otherwise, it just doesn’t make any sense!

How exactly did Raijin survive? By directly conducting the lightning through his body into the ground. Although the human body is a poor conductor of Lightning compared to metal, it is possible to conduct through it and transfer all the lightning into the ground, which is exactly what Raijin did by carefully directing the Lightning entering his body into the Ground.

There are two main reasons Raijin was able to accomplish such an absurd feat. The first is the exceptional affinity of this clone body with Lightning Nature Chakra, if not for that, he would not have been able to control that lightning-coursing through his body into the ground, and second reason is Uchiha Fugaku’s Mangekyō Sharingan which allowed him to process his thoughts faster and granted him better control over the Lightning.

But the problem of heat… it was too much and that’s the cause of his current grotesque and miserable state.

Of course, Raijin wouldn’t explain all of this to Darui. If he can guess on his own, then sure, ‘you guessed it,’ but if not, then there is only one thing to say, “That’s a secret.”

Whoosh! Whoosh!

At this time, Samsara and Tengu appeared on the battlefield, and exclaimed upon noticing his miserable state, “Raijin-sama!”

“It’s alright… I am alive, I just need some healing…” spoke Raijin to resolve their worries.

“Healing… healing… right…” muttered Samsara as she quickly approached Raijin, Tengu also followed after her.

On the way, Samsara pulled up the sleeves of her cloak and as she arrived beside Raijin, she raised her hand in front of his mouth, meanwhile, Tengu vigilantly stood in front of Raijin and Samara, hiding what she was about to do from Darui’s sight.

Looking at everything before him, Darui was shocked beyond words.

The Lightning Black Wolf he had used earlier was his strongest ninjutsu other than the Lightning Chakra Armor… no, it’s even stronger than the Lightning Chakra Armor, it’s a Rank-S certain kill Ninjutsu that is impossible to survive against unless using the same method that he used to survive Raijin’s Ninjutsu.

However, Raijin did not use the method he used. Although Darui can guess the method that Raijin used, that is absurd and completely unreasonable… it just doesn’t make any sense. Even Sandaime Raikage who had the strongest body with the strongest defense couldn’t do something like that!

‘How is this possible?’ For a moment Darui felt that he was under the effects of a Genjutsu!

Unaware of Darui’s doubts, Samsara placed her arm in front of Raijin’s mouth and helped him take a bite, “Raijin-sama… Here…”

With Samsara’s help, Raijin took a bite on her arm. Immediately, a terrifying Yang Chakra and Life force entered his body, and started to mend all his wounds both internal and external.

In the blink of an eye, all the wounds on his body and Raijin returned to his earlier fresh state as if he had not fought any battle at all.

“Haah!” Raijin breathed a sigh of relief and released Samsara’s arm, “Thank you…”

Samsara blushed in embarrassment and retracted her arm back into her sleeve, then she helped Raijin stand up.

Back on his feet, Raijin weaved hand signs and summoned a Storage Scroll from which he took out a new pair of clothes and a new mask with the same design and colors that he quickly wore while summarizing the earlier battle.

Raijin wouldn’t deny it, he was really reckless earlier… no, he had been reckless the entire time while fighting Darui. But he has no regrets… even if he could do it over, he would still make the same decisions that he did on his first try because time is a constraint for him, and he needs to figure out things as quickly as possible.

Anyway, Kakashi’s cells are inexhaustible so there is no problem even if he is somewhat reckless.

By the time Raijin finished changing his clothes, Tengu questioned, “Raijin-sama, what should we do with him?” During the fight, Darui was trying to kill Raijin, this was obvious to everyone so the most logical thing to do would be to kill him here in his opinion.

The moment Tengu’s words were spoken, Shee and Atsui finally arrived on the scene. Looking at the devastated battlefield and Darui who was injured and unable to move both of them were deeply shaken. What surprised the two Kumo ninjas more was that opposite Darui stood Raijin and his two squad mates who seemed completely fine, even the clothes on their bodies weren’t damaged.

It was almost as if they were just bystanders who did not partake in the earlier at battle at all and just arrived at the scene!

“He… he defeated Darui-san?” Atsui muttered in disbelief. This was the most logical conclusion before him since he arrived a little late and failed to witness Raijin’s grotesque state because of all the injuries he had sustained.

To him, it appeared that Raijin had easily defeated Darui and now the three Amegakure Genins were deciding Darui’s fate whether to kill him or spare his life. Although he was a little horrified, he still stood in front of Darui and protected him, “Shee-san… take Darui-san and retreat, I will try my best to hold them here…”

Shee while using Iryō-ninjutsu to heal Darui glanced in the direction of the three Amegakure Genins. Under normal circumstances, he might have agreed to Atsui’s words and immediately retreated since Darui’s life is more important to the village than their lives. But the current circumstances are not normal… he did not think that he would be able to retreat at all!

Raijin was able to single-handedly defeat Darui meanwhile both of them were completely helpless against Tengu… there’s also Samsara about whom they know nothing!

Perhaps Darui had the same thought, he pushed aside Shee’s hand, and spoke to Raijin with difficulty, “The one targeting your life… it was me, not these two… spare their lives, that’s all I ask of you…”

Raijin shrugged, “I am not interested in either of your lives…” he paused and glanced at the remains of the Scroll, “I wanted your Scroll… but it seems that wouldn’t be possible anymore, huh?” Shaking his head, Raijin spoke, “I had a lot of fun, so let’s call this a draw… The second phase of the exam will continue for the next five days, that’s plenty of time for a Jōnin and Special Jōnin class ninja to collect both Scrolls. I hope that you will qualify for this phase and meet me in the final round…” Leaving these words he turned around and left the area, “Let’s go…”

Both Samsara and Tengu stared at Darui, Shee, and Atsui. The two nodded lightly to the three Kumogakure ninjas and left the area following behind Raijin.
