Once all the candidates, save for one Genin squad from Amegakure that chose to quit, had signed the Death Agreement, Umino Iruka and the other academy instructors led the remaining One-hundred-thirty-two candidates outside the Forty-Fourth Training Field also known as the Forest of Death where the main proctor of the Chūnin Promotion Exam, Uchiha Itachi was already waiting for all of them.

Looking at all the Genin Squads, Itachi began to explain the rules of the second part of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam that were similar to canon.

Among the remaining forty-four Genin squads, twenty-two random squads will be given the ‘Scroll of Heaven’ while the remaining twenty-two squads will be given the ‘Scroll of Earth’ before venturing inside the Forest of Death. The objective of each squad is to complete the pair of ‘Scroll of Heaven’ and ‘Scroll of Earth’ by stealing the Scroll that they do not possess from another team using any means necessary, and then finish the journey to the tower located at the center of the training field as a full squad within the five-day limit.

“So, it’s a battle for the Scrolls, huh? Sounds simple enough.”

“There are only twenty-two ‘Scroll of Heaven’ and ‘Scroll of Earth’ each, which means that even in the most ideal situation, only twenty-two squads will be able to complete the pair and pass the second part. The elimination rate of this part is at least fifty percent!”

The forty-fourth training field has forty-four entry gates, which means each squad will enter the forest of death from a different gate.

After all the squads were led to different entry gates of the Forest of Death, they were given random scrolls. This is done to make sure that each squad has enough time to make preparations without having to worry about encountering enemies as soon as they step inside the Forest of Death.

Once all the preparations were made, forty-four signal flares were fired after which all the squads were sent inside the Forest of Death at the same time.

Monitoring Room, Forest of Death

Several senior members of different shinobi villages including Jonin Kitsuchi from Iwagakure, Yondaime Raikage from Kumogakure, Elder Chiyo from Sunagakure, Terumi Mei from Kirigakure, elders from Kusagakure and Takigakure, along with the Elders from Konoha and ‘Kuroto’ arrived at the Monitoring room.

They could see hundreds of screens arranged in the monitoring room that captured as many areas in the forest of death as possible. Based on this, it is safe to say that the entire Forest of Death is under strict surveillance.

Moreover, there are several Anbu squads stationed at the Central Tower and there are also four Medical Camps on the Southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest ends of the Forest of Death, which means, if the situation requires, a large reinforcement can instantly arrive.

While jumping from tree to tree, Raijin asked Samsara, “In which direction is Darui of Kumogakure?”

Samsara closed her eyes to sense the position of Darui, then replied while pointing in a particular direction, “That way…”

“Let’s go…” said Raijin then rushed toward Darui.

Samsara and Tengu nodded and followed him closely.

The reason Raijin has chosen Darui as his first target is that he needs to complete the development of this Clone body by perfecting various techniques, one of which is Storm Release.

After entering the familiar forest of death, Naruto asked Sasuke and Mika, “What should we do now?”
