Chapter 541 - 539: Annie, We Are Your Parents

Chapter 541: Chapter 539: Annie, We Are Your Parents

Javier Sinclair waved his hand, shattering the void Barrier. In a flash, he took Celeste Grant with him to the Mortal Realm, where a wisp of their son’s Primordial Spirit resided.

Pinpointing the exact location, they arrived in the Mortal Realm in a mere instant...

「Within the borders of Kelldorn.」

「It was nighttime.」

Celeste Grant and her husband followed their son’s aura to a bamboo forest about a mile outside Pyrewood. A river flowed nearby.

The sound of frogs croaking, RIBBIT, RIBBIT, echoed from the river.

The moment they appeared, the world’s Heavenly Dao manifested. It had sensed the descent of The Demon God, and it was panicking.

Thunderclouds churned across the sky, punctuated by flashes of lightning.

It was a warning—a threat—from the Heavenly Dao.

Javier Sinclair waved his hand.

"Begone."

With that single word, the thunderclouds scattered, and the sky returned to normal.

He raised his hand, Magic flowing at his fingertips.

Javier Sinclair gave a casual wave, and the Power of Laws instantly enveloped the world. He fabricated plausible new identities for himself and his wife.

Their son was now an ordinary mortal with no memory of his past. He was in the middle of some form of Cultivation, so Javier had no intention of breaking the Seal. To raise him here, they would need proper identities.

Celeste Grant glanced at him.

"What are you doing? This is the Power of Laws."

He explained.

"To move about in the Mortal Realm, one needs an identity."

"So I arranged a suitable identity for us. I am the current Emperor’s younger brother, the Warden of the North, and you are my Princess Consort."

Celeste Grant stared, momentarily stunned, before giving him a thumbs-up. "Nice. You really think of everything. It’s much better to have proper identities. This will make things easier, and we can look after our son without disrupting his life in the Mortal Realm."

In reality, Kelldorn’s Royal Family only had a single heir in each generation. The current Emperor had no younger brother, let alone any children. But under the influence of Javier Sinclair’s Power of Laws, he now *was* the Emperor’s younger brother, created from nothing.

Celeste Grant did a quick divination.

Kelldorn’s current Emperor, Miles Sinclair, was a diligent and benevolent ruler. However, according to his fate, the throne would only last until his generation before being taken by another, and he was destined to be childless and alone.

Now that they had arrived and fabricated the identity of the Emperor’s younger brother, she could, in return, allow this Emperor to have his own biological children.

"Let’s get our son first."

"This is the place."

Celeste Grant and Javier had followed their son’s aura here.

She lifted her gaze slightly, her Divine Sense blanketing the bamboo forest. She immediately found the person she was looking for.

Looking through the dense bamboo forest, she saw a small figure curled up asleep in a rocky crevice. He had spent the last few days fighting for his life and had fallen asleep from sheer exhaustion the moment he stopped to rest.

In his hand, her son still clutched half a white radish he had probably dug out of a farmer’s field. It was obvious he’d already eaten the other half. The sight made her eyes turn red as tears welled up.

"Archfiend, our son is so hungry he’s been reduced to eating raw radishes."

’He felt a pang in his heart too.’

"Mm, I see him."

’So even this little brat has his moments of distress. He used to be so smug, always finding ways to get on my nerves.’

Celeste Grant sneered. "Some ’General’s Mansion.’ And that General of Kelldorn... how can someone so narrow-minded, focused only on petty gains, be worthy of the title? Pfah. They used my son when they needed him, and now that they’re done, they want to silence him for good. They’re utter trash."

’Her son had never suffered such hardships in his entire life. If he ever recovers his memories, he’ll probably die of embarrassment and say, "What a cruel joke."’

’It’s true what they say: the blessed do not enter the gates of the luckless. They were unworthy of stumbling upon a son like him.’

’There’s a saying that’s absolutely right: when one person attains the Dao, even their chickens and dogs ascend to heaven. If they had shown even a sliver of kindness to her son, they would have been granted the chance to achieve immortality.’

’A pity. They were unworthy.’

"Our son is in this bamboo forest. Let’s go get him."

As she spoke, Celeste Grant had already stepped into the bamboo forest, heading toward her son’s location.

Javier Sinclair followed behind her.

On the way, Celeste Grant added a warning.

"This child is a wisp of Annie’s Primordial Spirit, and he hasn’t been with us. He’s suffered so much at such a young age. When you see him in a moment, don’t put on your stern face and scare him. From now on, we have to dote on him and let him know that he is loved."

Javier Sinclair grunted in agreement.

’He was the boy’s father; of course he would love his child.’

Soon, the two arrived at her son’s hiding place.

Although her son had lost his memories, his vigilance and cleverness were the same as before. Otherwise, he never would have survived the pursuit, let alone managed to trap and kill all of his pursuers along the way.

He was probably hiding here now out of fear that more people were coming, just in case.

Celeste Grant and Javier didn’t bother to hide their presence.

The moment they appeared, the boy hiding in the rocky crevice sensed them. ’Good, it’s dark,’ he thought. ’They definitely haven’t seen me. If I just find the right moment, I can take them out with a single strike.’

Although he was young, he had lived in the General’s Mansion before. He had some foundation in martial arts.

The boy held his breath, his hand tightening around a dagger. He had taken it from the bodies of the pursuers he’d trapped and killed, keeping it for self-defense.

His small body was hidden in the fissure between the rocks, using the bamboo forest for cover.

’Someone’s coming.’

’Footsteps.’

’Closer.’

’Their target is clear. They’re here for me.’

’Who is it?’

’More assassins.’

At that moment, his eyes filled with fury.

’Those people from the General’s Mansion... they really want me dead, without a shred of sentiment.’

’Fine. Just you all wait.’

’If I can survive this, I’ll kill my way back there and get my revenge sooner or later.’

The boy’s eyes were filled with determination.

’Tonight, either they die...’

’...or I do.’

’And I absolutely will not die.’

Just then, a figure approached his position directly.

The boy gripped the dagger tightly.

’They’ve already found me. They must be an expert.’

Knowing he couldn’t hide any longer, the eight-year-old boy saw an opening. Gripping his dagger, he lunged out to strike back. In that instant, however, a hand snatched the weapon from his grasp and tossed it to the ground. The person then scooped his small body into an embrace.

"It’s okay now."

It was a woman’s voice.

’It should have been unfamiliar.’

’But hearing her voice, the boy froze. Why did it sound so familiar? And why was she hugging him? Why did this embrace feel so safe?’

Snapping back to his senses, the boy immediately tried to struggle out of the woman’s arms.

Celeste Grant gently patted his back.

"Don’t be afraid. Mom’s here."

’Mom... what mom?’

"Wh-who are you? What tricks are you trying to play now? I won’t fall for it."
