Chapter 515 - 513: Seeing One’s Heart Clearly

Chapter 515: Chapter 513: Seeing One’s Heart Clearly

Yes, that’s right.

He just loved her. He loved every single thing about Nerida.

That was why he’d gotten so angry and hurt when she said they weren’t a good match, that he would meet a better woman someday.

His gaze shifted to Nerida’s face as he said in a low voice, "What can I do about it? I just do. I didn’t want to fall for you, either. But you’re the one who barged into my world that day. Falling for you was something I couldn’t control. And now I’m trying to figure out how to take back these feelings. So, what is this? You don’t even like me, so why are you kissing me?"

He spoke coldly, his tone accusatory.

As he spoke, he couldn’t suppress the hurt and sense of being wronged.

Aeron sighed softly. "It’s true what they say—things that come too easily are never cherished. I think I finally understand that now. Nerida, we didn’t exactly get off to a good start. You think I just threw myself at you, so you don’t think I’m important. You must think I’m just some easy conquest..."

His voice was quiet. After he finished speaking, he raised a hand to cover his eyes. "Forget it... Why am I even telling you this? It’s not like I’ll ever be the one you treasure most anyway."

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Finally, he just shut his mouth and said no more.

He kept his eyes shut, refusing to look at her.

A voice came from above him.

"I’ve never thought you were someone easy."

"I’ve never thought of you that way."

"You’re a good person, Aeron."

Aeron just huffed, but he was listening intently to her every word.

He could feel her tone softening.

Aeron knew his "play hard to get" gambit was working.

He thought to himself,

’My wife does have me in her heart after all.’

Before she could say more, Aeron cut in, "A good person? No, I’m not good at all. If I were, you might have started to like me at least a little after I’ve been with you for six months. Nerida, I already told you I’d activate the array to send you away. You don’t have to lie and say things like this to me."

Hearing the sarcastic bite in his tone, Nerida fell silent. The hand she had braced beside him twitched, then clenched into a fist.

She spoke in a low voice.

"Move your hand."

Aeron’s hand, still covering his eyes, didn’t move.

A hand shot out, grabbed his wrist, and pulled the hand away from his eyes, pinning it to the daybed beside him.

He opened his eyes, and they locked gazes.

Aeron was now pinned beneath Nerida on the carriage daybed. Her dominance made him blush. Before meeting Nerida, he had never been interested in any other woman; he couldn’t stir up the slightest feeling for them. The reason was simple: he was drawn to powerful women. Women exactly like Nerida.

"Aren’t you going to let go?"

She had already ripped his sash off earlier; it now lay on the carriage floor. With just the slightest movement, his robes parted, and he felt a chill against his exposed skin.

Nerida’s gaze traveled from his face down to his body. The Young Master was indeed blessed with a handsome face, a lean, strong physique, and an innate air of nobility.

’She’d already slept with this man, and more than once. In the past, she had been completely focused on her cultivation, so she’d never cared for carnal matters.’

’But after sleeping with him, she’d certainly acquired a taste for it.’

She lifted the hand that had been braced by his side and pressed her fingers against his abs. Nerida had to admit she was utterly captivated by this man’s beauty.

When Aeron felt her touch, he quickly grabbed her hand.

"Don’t touch me."

Though he wanted to push her hand away, as he held it, he found himself wanting her to touch him more.

"Nerida."

’Is this woman trying to torture me to death?’

’But I love it. I really, really love it.’

Nerida’s eyes narrowed, her gaze fixed on his flushed, angry face. ’At times like this,’ she thought, ’I suddenly don’t like it when he calls me by my name.’

She leaned down, closing the distance between them.

One of her hands gripped his waist, and as he arched back with a sharp gasp, she dipped her head and kissed his throat.

"Wife..."

Aeron’s mind went blank. All he could do was wrap his arms around her waist. He completely forgot they were in a carriage, his only desire to hold the woman in his arms.

He could feel it. ’My wife... she seems different. She’s possessive of me now.’ The realization filled him with joy.

After a long moment, Nerida lifted her head slightly.

She whispered, her voice low, "This carriage isn’t a suitable place." With a wave of her hand, they both vanished from the carriage.

When they reappeared, they were back in The Young Lord’s Manor.

They materialized in his room, landing on the bed.

Aeron sank into the bedding, and a moment later, the woman’s dominant kiss descended upon him.

’Is it finally not just one-sided?’ he wondered. ’My wife is so dominant when she takes the lead in these matters.’

Just as his excitement was building, the woman on top of him pulled away, rolled over, and lay down beside him.

A chill shot through his heart.

’Wait... Is that it?’

He turned on his side to face her.

"Nerida."

He called out to her.

Nerida’s gaze shifted to him. Seeing his crestfallen expression, she hooked a finger under his chin and spoke two simple words.

"Come here."

Aeron’s eyes lit up, then slowly darkened as he looked at her, like a possessive wolf guarding its mate.

He pushed himself up, looming over her, then leaned down to shower kisses on her face and lips.

"Nerida... I love you."

After returning to The Young Lord’s Manor, the two of them didn’t emerge from the room until evening.

「The next day.」

When Nerida woke up, she saw the man standing by the bed with an eager-to-please smile, and the corner of her mouth twitched.

’My back...’

"Wife, how are you feeling? Are you tired? Let me massage your back for you." He sat down beside her and began to gently rub her lower back.

Nerida lifted her gaze, giving him a long, appraising look. "Didn’t you say you were going to find a wife with fair skin, a pretty face, and long legs, Young Master?"

He looked down, the tips of his ears turning red.

"I was just talking," he mumbled, his gaze dropping to Nerida’s legs. "Besides, who has longer legs than you? Wife, your legs are so slender and beautiful... they’re longer than my lifespan."

’The kind of legs that could wrap around his waist and be the death of him.’

Nerida froze, taken aback by his bluntness.

Still, seeing him acting like his old self again, she felt an inexplicable sense of relief.

She looked up at him. "Not angry anymore?"

Hearing this, Aeron shook his head.

"I wasn’t angry with you. I was angry at myself for not being able to make you like me." As he spoke, Aeron wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her shoulder.

"Nerida."

He whispered her name, then said softly, "Please don’t ever tell me to find someone else again. It hurts me. Besides, they aren’t you. I only want you."

Feeling the fervent passion in his words, Nerida’s heart skipped a beat.

Nerida didn’t say anything.

Her gaze simply fell to the arms that were holding her. ’This man has such a hold on me,’ she realized. ’I really can’t leave him now.’ In that moment, Nerida finally understood her own heart.
