Perfect Villain Life: Universal Job Change

Chapter 257: The World of Hydra

Chapter 257: The World of Hydra

Seeing the tension between mother and son finally resolve, the other Void Lords collectively let out a breath of relief. In their hearts, they couldn’t help but sigh—Qin Xian truly lived up to his name.

Not only had he dared to defy the Void Empress and argue with her in front of everyone, he was even forgiven afterward. Their understanding of Qin Xian’s position in the Void Empress’s heart deepened yet again.

The Hydra World was once a brilliant gem of the universe, an ancient realm said to have been created by the cosmic progenitors known as the Old Saints. When the Old Saints first arrived, Hydra was a frozen wasteland, save for a few primitive lifeforms clinging to survival near the equator.

he Old Saints reshaped its environment and created a host of intelligent species: dwarves, elves, humans, lizardfolk…

Over countless years of evolution, these races flourished. Their magical civilization grew so advanced it rivaled the high-tier worlds, even giving rise to celestial-level magic such as moon-forging spells.

For countless eras, the various races of Hydra had built grand, thriving civilizations. But all of it came to an end with the invasion of the First Royal Court. Endless legions of the deathless void poured through rifts, descending upon Hydra and slaughtering all in their path. The war had now raged for two hundred years.

The outer boundaries of Hydra had long since fallen and become nests for the void armies. What was once a paradise of peace had turned into a land of death, saturated with the stench of decay.

In the Old World, there stood the city of Haithern—a former crown jewel of Hydra’s elven civilization.

Built entirely of white marble, blessed by enchanted winds, it had once been a bustling hub of trade and culture. It was the capital of the Haithern Kingdom, one of the Ten Great Elven Courts.

But a century ago, the void army arrived at its gates. The Elven King of Haithern led 200,000 troops in a desperate defense that lasted half a month. In the end, they all perished, and Haithern fell.

Now called the Haithern Demon City, the once-sacred metropolis had become a cursed wasteland, a name whispered with dread across Hydra. Deathly silence reigned, and chaos-infused void mists choked the air.

The skies were perpetually blanketed in gloomy clouds. Massive void rifts towered around the ruined city, connecting directly to the void realm. At all hours, countless void reinforcements surged forth, continuously pouring into Hydra to feed the war.

At the center of the demon city, a colossal palace loomed. It had once housed the elven royal court but now served as the stronghold of the Blood Legion.

“Moxi’s life signature has vanished. His entire legion has been wiped out.” From within the swirling mists of chaos, a tall female figure emerged, her crimson hair cascading to her waist. Her pale skin contrasted with the faint glint of fangs at the corners of her mouth.

This was Lilian, the Blood Witch, frontline commander of the Blood Legion and a Void Lord under the First Royal Court.

The surrounding figures were also Void Lords of the Blood Legion. Upon hearing Lilian’s words, their faces twisted in rage. Moxi, whom she had mentioned, was a powerful Void Lord who had led a massive force into Hydra’s New World—but now the entire legion was gone.

Moxi’s own life energy had also disappeared completely.

A muscular minotaur-like Void Lord growled coldly, “It was that damn Rosha again.”

Rosha, Hydra’s Hero—though still young—had risen with terrifying speed. In just ten years, he had become the strongest being in the world. Even long-feuding races now rallied to his side.

Empowered by the blessing of Hydra’s Origin, he had led the resistance in one victory after another, thwarting the Blood Legion’s plans and becoming the symbol of Hydra’s hope.

His name was now synonymous with failure for the Blood Legion.

Lilian’s eyes turned sharp and cold. “I’ve received word that Her Majesty is already extremely displeased. Even Lord Vilder has been punished. We’ve suffered too many losses in Hydra. If Her Majesty runs out of patience…”

Fear appeared on every Void Lord’s face. The Blood Legion was but one of many legions under the First Royal Court. If deemed unworthy, they would all be annihilated. Their souls would be absorbed back into the void and reforged into new Void Lords—but their next lives would have nothing to do with them.

Just then, an overwhelming will descended upon the palace. Feeling the all-too-familiar pressure, Lilian and the others immediately knelt in fear.

“Lord Vilder…”

Though they were all Void Lords, Vilder could crush them with a single finger.

Vilder’s form flickered in and out of view. Her blood-red eyes swept over Lilian and the rest with murderous intent. In her mind, they were all responsible for her current precarious position.

“The Prince will soon descend upon Hydra to oversee the invasion personally. If anything happens to him… I will die. But before that, I’ll make sure all of you understand what it truly means to beg for death.”
