Chapter 278:The Hidden Masters
Chapter 278: 278:The Hidden Masters
Phillip’s eyes widened in horror when he sensed two figures appear out of nowhere.
What truly shocked him was not their sudden presence, but the terrifying fact that he had not detected them at all. There was no fluctuation, no warning, nothing. They had simply existed within his blind spot.
A cold shiver crawled up his spine as instinct screamed danger.
“Kekkeekke!”
A sharp, mocking laugh echoed through the night air, scraping against the nerves like rusted metal.
“Foolish assassin, you said, right?”
Another voice followed, slow and cruel.
“It’s you who is foolish.”
“It’s over!”
Phillip turned to reposition himself, but the man he thought was already neutralized suddenly shot up from the ground like a snake striking its prey. The dagger in his hand flashed toward Phillip’s chest, carrying killing intent.
Phillip reacted on pure instinct. He slashed his sword sideways, steel screaming as it collided with the dagger. Sparks burst outward, lighting up his grim face.
“Damn it!” Phillip cursed, grinding his teeth as he forced the assassin back.
At the same moment, the two newly arrived figures burst through the outer security lines.
Several guards were thrown aside like broken dolls, their bodies smashing into walls and rolling across the ground. The assassins did not even slow down.
“Don’t waste time on them,” one of them said coldly.
“Our main aim is the mansion.”
Their bodies blurred, movements became sharp and efficient. With a powerful push from the ground, both figures shot upward, cutting through the air like arrows loosed from a bow.
They rose high above the estate, moonlight glinting off their daggers.
Both assassins raised their weapons at the same time.
A dense blade of coagulated aura burst out from their bodies, compressing into a single lethal arc. The attack cut through the sky, heading straight for the mansion.
Before it could touch its target, another slash appeared out of nowhere.
The aura blade was cut cleanly in half.
BOOOOM!
The sky erupted with a deafening explosion. Shockwaves rolled outward, shaking the ground and rattling every window in the estate.
The two figures froze mid-air, eyes widening as they looked down in disbelief.
From the darkness below, a shadow began to move.
It stretched, twisted, and slowly converged into a human shape.
“Trying to attack when the Lord is missing,” a cold voice said, filled with disdain.
“Disgusting.”
The assassins landed on a nearby wall, stone cracking under their feet. Their expressions twisted as they stared at the figure below.
“Another Master rank,” one of them muttered.
“Let’s not waste time,” the other replied calmly.”He is alone.”
“Alone, you say?”
SWIIISH!
A sudden attack tore through the air.
“Dodge!” one of them shouted.
The strike smashed into the wall they had been standing on, shattering stone and sending fragments flying in all directions.
A figure leaped into view, landing with a heavy thud.
With a gleaming sword held firmly in his hands, Noel straightened his posture and took his stance.
“Now we are equal,” he muttered.
From the shadows behind him, another presence emerged silently.
Hall stepped forward, his aura spreading like a low hum through the air.He looked at Noel.
The two exchanged a brief glance.
The next moment, all four moved.
BOOOOM!
The clash was immediate and violent. Noel charged forward first, sword sweeping in a wide arc aimed at forcing distance. One assassin slipped inside the range, twisting his body sideways as his dagger scraped past the blade.
Hall followed up from the opposite side, his weapon coming down in a crushing strike. The assassin blocked with crossed daggers, knees bending as the ground cracked beneath him.
The second assassin vanished, reappearing behind Hall in a blink.
Hall spun, barely raising his weapon in time as sparks burst from the impact. The force sent him sliding backward, boots carving grooves into the stone.
The assassins moved like ghosts. Their footwork was light, precise, and unpredictable. They attacked in short bursts, never overcommitting, always retreating into shadows.
Noel and Hall fought back to back, covering each other’s blind spots. When one pressed forward, the other defended. When one staggered, the other stepped in.
Steel clashed again and again.
CLANG! CLASH! BOOM!
Walls cracked. The ground shattered. Trees nearby were sliced apart by stray strikes.
But slowly, the balance began to tilt.
“These two seem like newbies,” one assassin said calmly while deflecting Noel’s attack.
“They lack experience,” the other replied, slipping past Hall’s guard and forcing him to retreat.
They were right.
Noel and Hall had only recently broken through to Master rank using Master Potions. Their power was real, but their bodies had not fully adapted. Their movements were strong, yet slightly stiff. Their timing was just a fraction too slow.
But more than that…they had yet to realise their intent.
The assassins noticed it.
One of them vanished completely.
Hall shouted, “Behind!”
Too late.
The assassin appeared at Noel’s side, his dagger slicing across Noel’s shoulder. Blood sprayed as Noel stumbled, gritting his teeth against the pain.
The assassin spun the dagger in his hand, using the momentum to twist his body and step in again.
“Diee!”
He hacked toward Noel’s neck, blade flashing under the moonlight.
Just as the dagger came within inches, every hair on the assassin’s body stood on end.
A crushing sense of danger washed over him.
BOOOOM!
A pillar of blinding light erupted from above, slamming into the ground between them. The explosion forced him to leap back, barely avoiding the blast.
“Now who the fuck is this?” he roared in frustration.
“Are you looking for me?”
A cold, chilling voice echoed across the battlefield.
The night sky turned crimson, painted by an ominous glow.
All eyes were drawn upward.
At the highest point of the mansion roof stood a woman, her figure outlined by the full moon behind her.
She raised her hand slowly.
Dazzling flames burst into existence, swirling and condensing into a massive spear of pure fire. The heat distorted the air, and the ground trembled beneath it.
“You dared to disturb the peace of Blanks,” she said in a calm voice but filled with killing intent.
“Now you can die!”
She waved her hand.
The flaming spear shot forward with terrifying force, tearing through the night.
