Chapter 599: Thanos’s Breakdown

Chapter 599: Chapter 599: Thanos’s Breakdown

As the massive black-and-purple rift tore open in the sky, the entire battlefield fell quiet for half a beat.

Thanos hovered in midair. He slowly raised his damaged gauntlet, the residual glow of the stones flashing wildly as his fingers flexed.

"Very well."

"You lot are finally worth the effort of cleansing personally."

Garp cracked his knuckles, the blood-red steam of the Eight Inner Gates rocketing up from his body, his boots grinding two deep fissures into the rubble beneath him.

"Drop the act, Grimace! I’ve been fighting all day, and I was just getting worried I’d run out of punching bags!"

Whitebeard rested Stormbreaker against his shoulder, a wide grin splitting his face.

"Gurararara! This guy’s got a tough mouth, but let’s see if his bones are just as hard!"

Akainu stood on the opposite flank, his Ryujin Jakka blade pointed toward the ground, the heat radiating from the steel turning the surrounding rubble glowing red.

"Enough talk. We bury him here and save ourselves the eyesore."

High above, Kizaru was lazily standing on a floating piece of debris, twirling his sunglasses and speaking at his usual, agonizingly slow drawl.

"My, my, what a terrifying lineup. I was just supposed to be on guard duty, but it looks like I’ll have to put in some overtime."

Garp shot him a sideways glance. "You talk a big game about guard duty, but your feet look pretty glued to that rock!"

Kizaru sighed. "I’m an old man now. Running is hard work."

Listening to their banter, Thanos’s expression darkened completely.

He had assumed these beings simply possessed bizarre powers, but their incessant yapping was just as obnoxious.

"Fools."

"You understand nothing. The universe requires order. Chaos only drags existence toward annihilation."

Garp threw his head back and laughed, raising his right fist.

"Order? Clean up your own ugly mug before you preach to me about order!"

With that, he launched himself forward.

The moment the Gate of Death fully opened, his blood-red steam erupted like a volcanic blast. The Six Paths Yang Power surged wildly through his meridian pathways, compressing the air in front of his fist so severely it let out an ear-piercing, muffled shriek.

"Fist Bone: Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack!"

A sky-blotting swarm of golden fists rained down like a meteor shower. There were so many that it made the eyes blur; it was impossible to tell which strike was the vanguard and which was the follow-up.

Thanos roared in fury, the stones on his gauntlet lighting up simultaneously.

He threw his arm up to block. Purple light and spatial ripples expanded outward, forcibly catching the first wave of phantom fists.

But the very next second, the second layer of fists smashed right through his defense.

Then the third layer, the fourth, the fifth, cascading relentlessly.

Thanos’s arm went entirely numb. The space beneath his feet collapsed over and over, and he was physically pushed backward by the overwhelming pressure.

"Impossible!"

It was the first time he had made such a sound, his rage tinged with sheer disbelief.

Garp maintained his wild grin, pressing the assault.

"Not even close! I ain’t even warmed up yet!"

That was when Whitebeard made his move.

He gripped Stormbreaker with both hands. The absolute power of the awakened Tremor-Tremor Fruit surged into the axe, the air around the blade warping violently.

"Watch closely, you purple punk!"

Whitebeard shattered the ground beneath him, leaping high into the air. Stormbreaker, carrying a cataclysmic shockwave and roaring lightning, chopped down directly at Thanos’s face.

"Tremor: World Cleaving Slash!"

Thanos had just managed to deflect Garp’s barrage of fists when a blinding, world-splitting axe strike descended on his head.

He roared, throwing both arms up as the Space Stone flared with blinding intensity.

But when the axe landed, the spatial ripple held for only half a fraction of a second before it completely shattered.

With a deafening crack, the space in front of Thanos was forcibly cleaved in two. The breastplate of his armor was gouged with a massive web of cracks, and the sheer force of the blow blasted him directly into the ruins below.

Whitebeard landed heavily, rolling his wrist.

"Tch, that armor’s pretty thick."

Garp barked a laugh. "Whitebeard, that axe swing had some real kick to it! I almost wanna steal it for a few swings myself!"

"In your dreams."

Akainu didn’t give them the chance to keep joking. His Ryujin Jakka was already slashing through the air.

The blade trailed a line of incandescent, white-hot fire, chasing Thanos’s descending trajectory. The temperature was so extreme that even the falling debris began to instantly melt.

Thanos had barely propped himself up halfway in the crater when Akainu’s blade arrived.

Schlk!

The blade pierced straight through his shoulder, pinning him cleanly to the ground.

Thanos’s pupils shrank to pinpricks. The agonizing pain detonated throughout his body, and he threw his head back, letting out a bloodcurdling scream.

Akainu kept his hand firmly on the hilt, the veins bulging on the back of his hand.

"Don’t scream just yet. The real pain hasn’t even started."

He twisted his wrist, pressing down. The flames of Ryujin Jakka poured violently into Thanos’s body, instantly burning a deep, molten crater into the earth around him.

Thanos thrashed, reaching up to pull the blade out, but Garp dropped from the sky, slamming his boot squarely onto Thanos’s chest.

"Hold still! I wouldn’t want you running off!"

Blood spilled from the corner of Thanos’s mouth, his facial muscles twitching erratically.

"You insects... leeching off anomalous powers... you dare stand in the way of destiny?!"

"I will erase every last one of you!"

He threw his left arm up violently. The last remnants of the Infinity Gauntlet’s power erupted simultaneously, a shockwave of purple and gold light sweeping outward. The ruins were blown away, and the air itself shrieked.

Only then did Kizaru lazily raise his hand.

"My, my, that won’t do~."

He flicked his finger. Golden light detonated around Thanos, the particles rapidly weaving together into a dense, glowing net.

"If you want to turn the tables, you have to ask if I’m off the clock first~."

"Light Dust Release: Sealing Boundary."

The ring of golden light instantly clamped down on the stone’s radiating energy, forcibly crushing Thanos’s raised arm back into the dirt.

Thanos snapped his head toward him, his face contorted in absolute fury.

"Another one?!"

Kizaru held his hands up in mock surrender.

"Now, now, no need to rush. I was just worried you’d run away. You take a beating so well, it’d be a shame to lose you."

Garp guffawed. "Kizaru, that was an ugly thing to say, but I loved every word of it!"

"Cut the chatter," Akainu said coldly. "He’s at his limit."

Thanos lay panting, staring up at the four of them.

He had never imagined that he would be pushed to such a pathetic state by a handful of humans.

One had fists that were absurdly fast. One had an axe that was absurdly hard. One had fire that could melt through anything. And one was absurdly good at watching from the sidelines.

What the hell kind of universe was this?

Where did this pack of monsters even come from?!

Garp saw the look on his face and flashed a toothy grin.

"What’s wrong? Starting to doubt yourself?"

"Don’t worry! Back in the day, when I fought Roger, I used to wonder if the guy had a screw loose in his head too!"

Whitebeard laughed heartily.

"Don’t compare me to that bastard, Garp! I won’t stand for it!"

Akainu snorted, pushing his blade deeper.

"It is over."

Thanos roared, desperately trying to channel the gauntlet one last time, but Garp slammed a hand over his face, raising his other fist, shrouded in blood-red steam, high above his head.

"When I’ve got all Eight Gates open, I ain’t got time to listen to your garbage!"

Thanos’s head was brutally smashed into the rubble. The ground caved in with a deafening roar, fissures spiderwebbing hundreds of meters outward.

Whitebeard followed up with another heavy axe strike. The tremors rapidly rippled through the cracks, utterly shattering the last fragile remnants of Thanos’s energy shield.

Akainu’s eyes went cold. With a flick of his blade, he scooped the damaged gauntlet right off Thanos’s wrist, sending it flying into the air.

Thanos’s eyes went wide with horror as his right arm fell uselessly to his side, stripped of its ultimate weapon.

Kizaru lazily reached out and snatched the gauntlet out of the air, freezing it in place with a beam of light.

"I’ll just hold onto this for safekeeping. Wouldn’t want it flying back to you on its own."

Completely consumed by pure rage, he struggled to lift his head, a hoarse, guttural growl tearing from his throat.

"You lunatics... you will pay for what you’ve done today."

Garp looked down at him, his booming laughter echoing across the ruins.

"You’ve gotta stand up first to make us pay!"

Whitebeard rested the axe on his shoulder.

"I don’t think he’s getting that chance."

Akainu twisted his blade, the flames pressing tightly against Thanos’s shoulder, instantly searing half his torso a charred, smoking black.

"Still talking tough? Then keep lying there."

Hearing this, Thanos’s face twisted in pure agony and fury.

He opened his mouth to speak, but Garp had already raised his fist again.

"Alright, let’s send you off on your final journey."

Before the wind of the punch even hit him, Thanos heard the sickening, muffled crunch of bone and air compressing together.

He gritted his teeth, staring up at the fist hurtling toward his face, and for the first time, a single thought flashed through his mind.

These bastards... they absolutely do not belong in this universe.

The next instant, the fist landed.

Deep within the ruins, a cataclysmic boom exploded.
