Chapter 2714: Defending Avalon III

Adrian appeared in a safer location and suddenly found himself hearing the sound of a horn. The next thing he knew is that numerous treants suddenly started bursting like exploding balloons. The treants even exploded like a grenade as they sent out wooden sharpnels in multiple directions. All of the players that were near were severely injured while some managed to defend themselves using emergence barriers or protective skills.

“Get back here!” Solstice shouted which prompted Adrian to look towards her direction.

Solstice could be seen wearing her shadow armor and brandishing her twin blades against a bleeding enemy. The enemy in question is releasing a skill that forcefully grows wooden swords from the ground and sends them flying to his enemy. The divine being known as Bress is actually a mage type enemy that can create sturdy wooden swords to send to his enemy.

The wooden swords that were all aimed at Adrian earlier must have been done by Bress. No one should underestimate the wooden swords created by Bress using magic because they are equivalent to an Epic tier sword weapon. The fact that he could create numerous of these swords with just his divine magic meant that he is more powerful than expected.

Solstice instantly dove into battle with Bress as she needed the blood of a divine being after all. It is one of the requirements to ascend into a True Vampire Queen. She is a Vampire Queen in title only but not in Persona which is why she is attempting to bridge that gap. She found Bress to be an enemy that almost has the same skill sets as her.

If Solstice uses blood to create weapons that can be used as projectiles, Bress used natural energy to create or grow wooden swords from the ground to attack his enemies. Luckily for Solstice and Lycan, Bress is not that mobile when he is attacking. Lycan easily went and did a few slashes on Bress by actively using the Shadow Leap skill. The attacks were not deep enough though as Bress was surprisingly sturdy despite being a mage type enemy.

Bress would have battled Solstice for a longer time if not for the sudden wailing of the being that came with him. When Bress saw Balor wailing on the ground pitifully which is not something a divine being would do, he immediately ordered a retreat because they will definitely fall if Balor cannot go against the lord of the territory.

Balor is also one of their most powerful fighters and they cannot have him fall this early. As a result, Bress used a relic called the Horn of Calling which can command an entire army of treants. The treants that Balor and Bress brought to lay waste on Avalon were all monsters that were tended to or created by other Fomorians for battle. It is not a waste to use them as a way for both him and Balor to escape from the enemy encirclement.

Bress commanded the treants to self-destruct which happened instantly. He then turned away from Solstice to gather Balor which resulted in the latter screaming at him. Bress might not be the most mobile when he is casting spells but his unidirectional motion is unapparelled due to the monstrous horse he is riding on. He easily picked up the large Balor and dragged him to a place where a gate was forming.

A gate made of trees bending together to create an arch suddenly started manifesting. Adrian also made a move as he did not want any of his enemies escaping. Bress seemed to notice the presence of two beings with Asmodian blood running after them. Bress then created a seed from his own body and using his own life force.

He then threw this seed onto the ground and it burrowed in like a parasite. In an instant, a large vine monster with the appearance of a large worm monster filled with teeth appeared. Adrian is shocked but proceeded to check the monster and it is called the Thorny Demon Wyrm. The name was quite ironic as the place they invaded is literally demon territory.

The Thorny Demon Wyrm is a summoned creature by Bress and it would actually die out in an hour. Adrian wanted to ignore it but it opened its large mouth that looked like a flower and spat our numerous thorns like a machine gun. Each attack of the Thorny Demon Wyrm even cost some of its health as it is basically a monster created to burn its life to defend its creator.

The Thorny Demon Wyrm performed wide range attacks that covered the tracks of the escaping Bress and Balor. The tree arch portal that they were heading towards suddenly completed as a powerful burst of energy came out from it. Both Bress and Balor entered it instantly upon manifestation and vanished completely. When Bress and Balor vanished, the Thorny Demon Wyrm that was summoned exploded into numerous thorns that scattered all over as the summoner was no longer in the area.

“How come they created a portal in front of you and you were unable to stop it?” Solstice asked but Adrian pointed out that there were thorns sticking out from some parts of her body.

“That was just it. I did not feel the distortion of space when they used that portal. It is not a power that bends space itself but something more mystical. It is akin to when Levin Cloud used the dragon vein for traversal but they used it on a massive scale. Also, look at the trees that arched… all of them died as if their life was used to create the spell.” Adrian stated as he witnessed a way to create a portal without bending time and space.

“I thought that you wanted them to escape or something. I just hope I have enough divine blood collected or else I will have you help me acquire more.” Solstice stated as she managed to collect some blood from Bress during their exchange.
