Chapter 2534: Vampires in Avalon
Chapter 2534: Vampires in Avalon
Night has already fallen in Avalon, but the territory itself is different at night. One might think that the territory slows down at night but that is not the case. Some of the races that live in Avalon are nocturnal and some do not even sleep at all. The night life is a different case entirely as it caters to specific people that love the cover of darkness.
“So, this is Avalon. I have already seen the reports, but it does exude a good charm.” A vampire duchess stated as she enjoyed the brewed spirits of the Faekin that is being sold in Avalon.
“Control yourself because we are here in official business remember. The Champion of the Twin Gods says that he has the information on the location of that damned Akasha. It should have been us that should clean our own mess but now the demons are involved.” A vampire duke stated.
“Loosen up as you are already thousands of years old already. We are not breaking the treaty that we made with the demons. The one helping us is the brother of the vampire princess with the qualities of a queen. We cannot stay silent if it is the Edelblud house that calls after all.” The vampire duchess stated.
It was not just these two vampire nobility that came unannounced as there are numerous vampires already in Avalon. The vampires thought that they have easily entered in the cover of the night, but Avalon is not easily infiltrated. Adrian already detected their mana signatures when they were in the skies hiding and let them enter without any problem with the barrier.
He wanted to at least let the vampire nobles think that they are good enough to slip inside his territory. He needed to build them up a little before breaking them down to the very last bit. Solstice has already warned him that the vampire council members were very rigid in their thinking. Only 30% of the vampire council members actually go with the times while the others were stuck in their favorite century.
“Let us have them be greeted by the Shades.” Adrian stated as his commands were given to the Shade Unit that patrol every corner of the territory.
“Greetings to the nobility of the night. The lord is expecting all of you. I will be your guide on your stay here. Please follow me.” One of the Shades stated as she rose from the darkness itself which slightly shocked the vampires.
The vampires are known to have a very awkward relationship with the Shades. The vampires often thought that they are the true rulers of darkness as they can use darkness attribute magic and unique blood magic, but the Shades are literally beings from the shadow realm. The shadow realm is not a place that even vampires can enter, and it has been said to be a realm of eternal darkness.
The vampires might not want to acknowledge it, but the Shades are beings that live in the darkness while they just revel in it. This also made them not like the Shades but not to the point that they hate them. It is just like a relationship of someone not liking another because they know that they are slightly better than them.
To make it a little bit embarrassing to the vampires, the Shades were not detected by them. Vampires pride themselves on detecting beings with blood or anything alive, but they were unable to detect the Shades because they are made of shadows. The vampires are also a bit embarrassed that they were unable to even detect that someone was already keeping an eye on them. The vampires always believed that they are beings that can easily come and go due to their affinity with darkness.
The vampires had to follow the Shades to make it seem that they let themselves be caught on purpose. When they saw each other, the embarrassment was masked with pleasant greetings. You could even see that they were happy seeing others like themselves caught by the Shades.
“This is as far as we will go. The lord will handle the rest.” The Shades stated as they sunk back and disappeared in the darkness.
“We are left here in the middle of a small garden. Is this not a bit rude?” One of the vampire nobles stated.
“What is rude then? Maybe sneaking inside my territory?” Adrian stated as he suddenly appeared next to the vampire that spoke earlier.
“Apologies. I have spoken out of turn.” The vampire noble stated which shocked him because he actually became respectful to a being much younger than him.
“I will accept the apology because you are the last to arrive. If I did not deactivate the barrier for all of you to pass through, then you would have been seared by golden light. Our guardian does not let any intruders pass through easily.” Adrian stated as he looked towards Saena as she was perched on top of the large tree looking down on all of the vampires.
“We were already discovered even before we entered. You have great territorial defenses, Lord of Avalon.” One of the vampire nobles added to which Adrian just nodded.
“Let us go because the other council members are waiting.” Adrian stated as he made a gesture that made all of them suddenly get swallowed by a portal and end up in the middle of the guild hall of the Pantheon Guild House.
“Apologies as I needed to get our last group of guests. I believe that some of you have already been briefed on what has happened. Any traitor in our midst?” Adrian asked with a smile which made the tension in the room suddenly go cold.
“Do not make jokes like that, brother.” Solstice stated as she shook her head.
“I hope so because if you plan to betray us then you best believe that I will personally drag your souls to the afterlife to be tortured for eternity.” Adrian stated as his eyes became completely black for a split second before it returned back to normal.
