Chapter 1352 Crisis (Part 3)
Chapter 1352 Crisis (Part 3)
As the silver white leaf trembled, a woman with long, flowing green hair stepped out from within. She was dressed in an elegant gown, her green eyes serene, and a crown rested upon her head. An aura that seemed to be in perfect harmony with the world radiated from her entire being.
“Fu*k!” Evan couldn’t help but curse when he saw the woman and took a step back.
Even though it was the first time he had seen her in person, he immediately recognized her as he had seen her before, in Azroth’s memories.
“She is the woman who tried to stop Azroth when he went to destroy the Universal Tree,” He muttered under his breath, recalling the memory he had seen when he first arrived in Utopia and laid his eyes on the World Tree for the first time when Ashley took him to see Sylvan. (Chapter 713)
In that memory, the woman in front of him had begged Azroth not to destroy the Universal Tree.
But Azroth, being Azroth, had acted like a true lady killer and chopped down both the lady and the Universal Tree without hesitation.
‘She is not going to take revenge on me for what Azroth did to her… right?’ Evan gulped, swallowing hard as he prepared to use all of his abilities should she attack.
However, just by looking at her, Evan had a strong feeling that even if he used all of his power, it might be impossible to do anything against her.
Just by standing in front of her, It didn’t feel like he was facing a person—it felt like he was facing an entire vast world.
The woman stood still after emerging from the silver white leaf, her expression unreadable, scanning her surroundings.
As her eyes landed on Evan, there was a momentary flicker in her otherwise calm gaze, but it quickly returned to an indifferent stare.
Without saying a word, she continued to gaze at Evan, who was already prepared to summon the Halberd of Destruction the instant she showed any sign of hostility.
But even after more than ten minutes, she made no move, simply continuing to look at him with that same expressionless stare.
Seeing her stand there silently, Evan felt something was off.
He studied her closely and soon noticed that her eyes were a bit strange. It was as if—
“She is dead…” Evan frowned, but quickly realized that ‘dead’ wasn’t the right word.
More accurately, it looked like she was unconscious— yet somehow still staring at him on instinct.
“From what I saw in Azroth’s memories, she should be the spirit of the Universal Tree. Now that Azroth destroyed the Universal Tree… could it be that she fell into a slumber like state because of its destruction?”
Evan moved from his position and stepped to the side. As he moved, the woman’s head turned to follow him, still watching him with the same blank expression.
“Can you stop staring at me?” Evan asked suddenly.
But the woman didn’t react. Her eyes remained fixed on him.
“Why are you here?”
Still no response.
“Have you come out for a walk?”
“…”
“Believe it or not, if you keep staring at me, I will sue you for stalking.”
“…”
“My dragon girlfriend is very aggressive. If she finds out you are stalking me, she will tie you up in a dark basement and torture you for the rest of your life.”
Evan threw out one absurd comment after another, hoping to get some kind of reaction—but even after half an hour, the woman remained silent, staring at him as before.
“What the hell? Why did you even come here if you are not going to say anything?” Evan complained, wondering if there was any way for him to go back.
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him, and a strange glint appeared in his eyes.
“Though it’s risky, it’s the only idea I can think of right now…” He muttered, taking a deep breath and extending his hand.
A wave of golden light—imbued with the most primal essence of destruction spread from his palm as the Halberd of Destruction materialized in his grasp.
15:59
The moment the Halberd appeared, the woman’s lifeless eyes showed a ripple of emotion, and she instinctively took a step back, as if afraid.
Though it was clearly an involuntary reaction and she remained in a slumbering state, Evan noticed the change.
“World… energy.”
The woman suddenly spoke, her voice mechanical, almost robotic.
Evan’s eyes widened, and he took a step back, thinking the simulation triggered by the Halberd of Destruction— the very weapon that had destroyed the Universal Tree had awakened her.
“Not much… time.”
Evan frowned at her words, soon realizing she was still unconscious and speaking instinctively from within her slumber.
“World energy, not much time,” Evan repeated, pondering what she was trying to say.
“Destruction…” The woman spoke again, her voice stiff and for the first time, she turned her head away from Evan and looked toward the World Tree behind her.
Evan followed her gaze and noticed that the World Tree was rippling.
Suddenly, several branches extended from the lower area of the World Tree and stopped in front of the woman.
Evan glanced at the branches that had risen —then his eyes widened in shock.
“No energy… destruction… all the worlds.”
The woman once more spoke in that robotic tone.
Though she had spoken only a few fragmented words, Evan fully understood what she was trying to say this time.
His gaze remained fixed on the branches that had emerged from below.
There were tens of thousands of leaves growing on them, each one holding a different world…
…And without exception, every one of those leaves was covered in deep cracks, and the worlds inside them were on the brink of collapse.
What’s more, even as he looked around the World Tree, several previously intact worlds were beginning to show signs of cracking, with fractures spreading throughout the colossal tree.
