Chapter 417: Chapter 410: Catch Them All in One Net
“Yes,” Gu Ning nodded, “There isn’t much here, so the food comes from outside.”
“I have something interesting,” Tang Yuxin pulled a small packet of medicine from her bag, shaking it in front of them, “A packet can knock out a large elephant, I have…” she then pulled out ten more packets. She pointed to the bucket of rice and said, “If we put this in the food, it could put anyone who eats it out for a dozen or so hours.”
“Great idea,” Bao Shuai’s eyes lit up. He understood immediately, it was the best way to capture those guys without resorting to violence, and if they could eradicate the problem, it would be ideal. They were outnumbered, no matter how capable they might appear, fighting would not benefit them, and they might even lose their lives. He couldn’t afford to risk Gu Ning’s life. After all, he was the one who dragged the businessman Gu Ning into this mess. Tang Yuxin was putting her life on the line. He knew if something happened to Gu Ning, he’d never hear the end of it.
“So…” Tang Yuxin asked them, “Do you want to eat more? Because once we do this, you can’t eat it anymore.”
Bao Shuai turned away, holding in a laugh.
Gu Ning brushed the ash off her face, “If you want to eat, have another bowl.”
Tang Yuxin scooped herself another cup without hesitation, preparing for later when everyone might get hungry.
Then she opened the packets and poured out the contents into the bucket. There was enough to go around, and after adding the medicine, she stirred it in with a stick.
Bao Shuai had somehow found a chunk of wood, like a tree branch. He placed it next to the unconscious man, making it appear as though a branch had hit him. After all, he wouldn’t know what happened, would he?
They hid away once again,
Soon, the man woke up. He was still dazed, but when he spotted the large tree branch not far off, he muttered something under his breath, picked up the large bucket and headed towards the compound.
From their position, they could see him carrying the large bucket into the building, shouting something. Not too long after, a number of people emerged. Each one had a bowl, perhaps grumbling about the late meal or the food being cold.
Apparently, they were all too eager to serve themselves.
Tang Yuxin was so tense she was breaking out in a cold sweat.
Eat, hurry up and eat, everyone just eat.
Indeed, everyone ate. Some gulped down an entire bowl, others scraped the bottom of their dish for more. Before long, the large bucket was looking rather empty.
After they finished eating, some people began to fade. They sat down, their heads started to droop then their weapons fell to the ground from loose grips. Other people began to do the same thing.
“It’s about time,” Tang Yuxin calculated. She knew exactly how long it would take for the drugs to take effect. These drugs were specially prepared before they came here, and countless experiments proved that within five minutes, their victims would become weak and sleepy, and after fifteen minutes, they would be fast asleep.
Gu Ning gave Bao Shuai a nod, and the two quickly advanced. Tang Yuxin stayed where she was.
As Gu Ning and Bao Shuai moved in, their actions were nimble, light, and quiet. The people inside were sleeping like logs. Bao Shuai couldn’t resist pinching one man’s face, confirming that he was indeed deeply asleep, and couldn’t be woken up.
After disarming them, the two moved carefully into the interior. Before long, Bao Shuai ran out to signal at Tang Yuxin,
Tang Yuxin stood up and ran over. There was still the large bucket outside, all the food inside was gone with not even a single drop of soup left. Entering the place, there were at least fifteen or sixteen people who were all fast asleep now. Gu Ning had already tied them all nicely with ropes.
“Niece, come here and see,” Bao Shuai seemed to have found something, calling Tang Yuxin over urgently.
Upon seeing what was inside, Tang Yuxin was astonished. There was a large iron cage filled with purplish-red snakes with an attractive shimmer.
“What are they trying to do?” Tang Yuxin asked Gu Ning. Eating this sort of venomous snake could cause severe contagion after being heated. While people ate all sorts of things these days, the delicious taste of this narcotic notwithstanding, it came with a deadly price. Not only would one die from consuming it, but it could even infect others.
“Probably did it on purpose,” Bao Shuai scoffed. “Who knows what they were thinking, they’re all just out for money. They’re probably planning to profit from chaos,” he added.
Tang Yuxin took another packet of medicine and scattered it on the snakes. After a while, the once lively snakes became flaccid and silent.
“I want their gallbladders,” Tang Yuxin took out her small knife, prepared to gather the snake gallbladders. Despite their poison, the fact remained that snake gallbladders were valuable. Some of her medicinal recipes would have better results when substituted with these gallbladders.
“It’s not dangerous, right?” Bao Shuai touched his arm. All these stuff was quite repulsive, didn’t she say these snakes were infectious?
“Snake’s gallbladder doesn’t cause infection, and neither do snake teeth. The infection comes when the meat is heated- it becomes both poisonous and infectious,” Tang Yuxin explained, before extracting a gallbladder from a snake with a swift move of her finger.
Bao Shuai touched his arm again,
Gu Ning’s niece was quite terrifying.
By this time, Gu Ning had found numerous contraband items inside, much more than they ever imagined. They had inadvertently made a huge contribution this time.
Bao Shuai took out his phone. Surprisingly, he had signal here. He dialed a number, “I’ll call for help so we don’t have to walk back.”
