My Tribrid System: More than a Monster

Chapter 492: Ceremony? (5)

Chapter 490

Ray returned to his room with a satisfied smile, but he was still largely confused. So, he hopped onto his bed while placing his VMS boots to the side.

’Feels like cotton hugging me. I feel incredibly comfortable in this uniform.’

Grabbing his phone, Ray hopped onto the Vanguard’s official forum and began scrolling through.

"Uniform....uniform....uni—ah, there it is."

Clicking on an article titled «Vanguards’ Uniform», he began reading.

"The Vanguard uniform is made out of rare materials mixed with a special beast core.

The exo-suit especially gives Vanguard members a boost in strength and speed. With energy flowing through every fibre and muscle in their bodies, they can move a tad faster and strike harder."

Ray paused for a moment before scrolling down to read the remaining part.

"... The exo-suit, though granting power to its wearer, has a certain limitation. Only those who can draw its power can use it to its full potential.

The amount of power drawn equals the amount of strength and speed gained. Drawing a hundred percent power from the suit will double a wearer’s maximum attributes."

Ray paused.

His eyes widened for a moment as he called out:

"My attribute stats."

====={Attributes:}=====

[STR: 110]

[AGI: 105]

[INT: 100]

[PER: 100]

[END: 105]

[VIT: 100]

[Stat points: 10]

======

"So if I-I were to draw the suit’s full percentage, I would get double of these? Woah! No wonder Raze seems like a monster.... I wonder how much power he has drawn."

Now that Ray thought about it, no wonder the Vanguard Order was able to battle the Abberants effectively.

Creatures that got stronger and faster with each injury they were dealt; yet a bunch of humans with some weak-ass abilities were able to slay them?

From an incredibly young age, Ray had always felt like the Vanguard Order were heroes, but now, with what he was reading, it all made sense to him.

’How can I check the amount of power I have drawn, though? I felt slightly powerful just now. How can I check?’

Looking down at the bodysuit, Ray tapped it a few times but ultimately gave up afterwards.

"I will ask tomorrow."

Surfing through his phone some more, he then came across a pre-installed app that had a map of sorts showing all the notable spots in the base.

Where the library was located, where the training grounds were, the cafeteria... there were so many locations, and Ray decided to memorize them all.

With his perk, it didn’t take more than a few seconds for him to know each spot instantly.

Then, he dropped his phone and gazed at the ceiling in deep thought.

"Oh yeah. System, bring up the new bloodline skills you said I got."

[Bloodline skills added: Two.]

[Name: Wings of Light (LV 1)]

’Wings?’

[Description: A weak, transparent pair of wings that can allow the user to alter their trajectory for a brief moment and dash around for a few moments.

Note: At level 1, these wings can’t grant host a full-on flight ability.

Cost: None.]

Ray stared at the system screen for a few moments before reading the skill again and again.

Eventually, he shook his head.

’Still good though, I guess? I have always wanted to fly and now, I can do so. But with wings on my back?’

Ray shuddered at the thought of how he would look with that.

Chuckling for a moment, he decided to give it a try.

Jumping out of his bed, he stood in the spacious center of the room with an excited grin on his face.

"Wings of Light."

’Wait....will it rip out of my uni—?!’

It was too late.

The skill was already activated.

Soon, shooting out of Ray’s back while making sure to bypass his uniform and cause it no damage, was a pair of dragonfly-like wings as white as the sun.

The wings were surprisingly long and remained stagnant behind him.

Turning his head around to get a good look, the Tribrid looked like a dog trying to see its tail.

Giving up, he walked towards the mirror and stared at his reflection.

The wings protruded from his back, and they seemed incredibly transparent and light—like paper.

’Can it be torn?’

But more importantly,

’... How do I even activate it?’

The second he thought about activating it, the wings fluttered with tremendous speed, turning into a blur behind his back.

Soon, Ray was hovering above the ground.

"Woah-oh..."

He hovered a few inches above the ground.

"Left."

The wings carried his weight to the left.

"Right."

They moved him to the right, but no more.

He couldn’t ascend higher into the air, neither could he suddenly dash forward with superspeed.

’Deactivate.’

The wings instantly vanished from his back, allowing him to land smoothly on the ground with a satisfied nod.

’It has some potential. If it increases in level, I could finally be able to fly.’

Clicking his tongue, he walked towards his couch and decided to take a look at his second new skill.

[Name: Judgement Beam]

[Description: The skill allows host to summon a satellite-like orbital pillar of white fire from the sky.]

[Cost: -100 energy points for each summon.]

Ray almost coughed up his saliva at the cost displayed before him.

’Fucking hell?! How can you cost this much?!’

This was the first of Ray’s skills that cost so much energy to cast.

None of his other skills had ever cost this much.

But come to think of it, based on the description alone, he knew the cost was quite worth it.

’Summon a pillar of fire, huh? Seems more than useful for a devastating AOE-type attack. But the cost... damn... can’t use it recklessly.’

Rubbing his eyes, he looked towards the window.

During his excitement over his new room and everything he had experienced, Ray hadn’t realized how much time had passed.

Hours had basically blurred past, and it was already nighttime.

It would seem like the trial had begun at 12 p.m. on the spot and had taken several hours to complete.

The Tribrid wasn’t physically tired in the slightest, but mentally, he was exhausted.

A whole month of not seeing daylight.

A whole month of imprisonment and barely sleeping.

Then the damned trial.

The Tribrid needed a break.

So, without thinking too much about anything else, he jumped from the couch and landed on his bed, which was wide enough to comfortably fit about four people.

"Vanguard Ray, time to rest peacefully....yawn..."

He closed his eyes, slowly drifting into sleep as he anticipated the induction ceremony tomorrow.
