Chapter 491: Ceremony? (4)
Chapter 489
Pushing the bathroom door open, Ray walked in calmly.
The bathroom was spacious and modern, with smooth tiled walls and a polished floor that gave the entire space a clean and luxurious appearance.
A large walk-in shower occupied one corner, enclosed by transparent glass panels and fitted with a rainfall showerhead alongside several smaller fixtures along the wall.
Opposite it stood a wide porcelain sink mounted above a sleek vanity, with a large mirror stretching across the wall above it. Soft lighting surrounded the mirror, casting a warm glow throughout the room.
A modern toilet sat discreetly against the far wall, while several shelves and cabinets provided storage for towels, toiletries, and other necessities.
Everything was arranged neatly, giving the bathroom the polished appearance of one found in a high-end hotel.
Ray inhaled the amazing fragrance emitting from the bathroom before exhaling in satisfaction.
"Firstly,"
He quickly stripped and, without hesitation, jumped into the shower.
Turning it on, he let the cold water cascade down his body.
The injuries inflicted by Raze during his petty demonstration had fully healed, allowing the water to rush smoothly down his body.
Grabbing a bar of soap, Ray gently rubbed himself with a small smile on his face.
«Open your mouth a little wider, I want to see something.» Bruce commented from inside the mindspace.
’Yeah. So I can taste soap, yeah?’
«I wanna see how it tastes.»
Ray didn’t reply and simply continued what he was doing.
After a few minutes of taking his time, he was done and soon stepped out of the shower, soaking wet.
Grabbing a towel from the cabinet, he walked towards the mirror to admire himself some more.
Only for his eyes to land on the tattoo on his chest that was still pulsating with each breath he took.
’Still wonder what the tattoo is for, though.’
«And I wonder when you will fulfil your promise to us.» Bruce snarked.
’Promise?’
«Oh? Have you forgotten your damn promise to return to our world so we can have an inkling of who we are? It’s been a year since we regained consciousness in your mindsp—»
"Yeah, yeah. I still remember. But how do we even get there, though? Do you have a mode of transportation?"
His mindspace suddenly turned quiet for a few moments until Elyon spoke.
«I was meaning to let you complete your mission first but now that you ask, I do recall a mode of transportation.»
Ray left control of his body and dove into the mindspace almost immediately.
Spinning around on the chair, he laid his gaze on Elyon while Bruce stared as well.
"You do?"
The Celestial nodded.
"Though faintly, I see a hand drawing runes on the ground. Runes which open up portals to various realms? Or locations? I don’t know."
Bruce fully fixed his attention on the Celestial.
"Any runes to your world?"
Elyon thought for a few more seconds before shaking his head.
"Not yet. I-I need to sort through my memories some more and push harder against the restrictions on them, but I feel like I-I’m close? I don’t know, but I have a suspicion."
Ray lifted a brow.
"What suspicion?"
Lifting his gaze to look at Bruce for a moment, Elyon then glanced at Ray.
"When we newly awakened in here, we couldn’t even try to think about our past without receiving a heavy headache.
When you evolved to a Tribrid Adept, the headache wasn’t as bad for me, and I was able to recall some things.
Now that you are a Tribrid Master, I can push back harder than before without getting those aches."
Ray turned his head towards Bruce.
"Is it the same with you?"
The werewolf merely scoffed and folded his arms across his chest while throwing his head to the side.
’I guess that’s a yes?’
"So your theory is that the more I evolve, the more the restrictions or bindings against your memories weaken?"
Elyon thought for a few seconds.
"Yes."
Ray exhaled and slumped into his chair.
"Damn. The path to my next evolution is incredibly steep."
"Which is why we need to return to our worlds. Maybe it could help," Bruce chimed in.
Elyon sighed.
"Just focus on the mission to retake Wall Rose. Maybe by then, I would have remembered a rune to the Celestial Realm."
Ray looked at the Celestial for a few more seconds before nodding and retaking control of his body.
Looking at himself in the mirror for a split second, he glanced back at the uniform lying beside him.
Reaching forth, he grabbed the black suit first and began putting it on piece by piece.
Soon, he had it completely on.
The suit was like a vessel in itself, with black fabric and delicate blue lines fusing together in a perfect design. The deep black material seemed to absorb and reflect light, giving the suit an almost mirror-like appearance.
The sleek fabric clung to Ray’s form, offering a snug yet flexible fit that felt like a second skin. The intricate blue lines on the suit weren’t mere decoration; they served as conduits, channels through which a strange energy flowed like a river.
"I feel... powerful?"
Something was off about this suit as he could feel a strange thrum reverberating around his body.
Choosing to ask about it later, he grabbed the last piece of the uniform.
A robe.
Now, around his body was a short robe of some kind, its length stopping just shy of his waist.
The robe was dark green and firmly attached to the body-hugging suit like a second skin. Only its hem fluttered softly.
The robe had a hood on it but, of course, he didn’t put it on.
At the back of the robe, a strange design was embedded.
It was that of two different wings placed side by side. One was black while the other was white.
And right in the middle of these wings, a spear was firmly placed.
This was the Vanguard’s official uniform, and Ray was putting one on with a smug smile of pride on his face.
