Chapter 770 - 770: New Morning
Hiro returned to his abode, appearing rather exhausted. Even after the event, he was forced to participate in another celebration event.
This event was organized by his teammates and coach to commemorate his achievements.
Well, he hadn’t just won the Golden Ball, but he was the first to do so from the club.
This individual achievement wasn’t just a mere individual achievement, but it was an achievement for an entire club, country, and continent.
Upon entering the room, Hiro wobbled to the trophy cabinet. He glanced at the cabinet filled with awards before placing the newest awards on the shelf.
With the addition of the Golden Ball, the shelf looked even more dazzling than before. Under the warm light, the awards glistened like stars in the night sky.
Despite the exhaustion, Hiro felt his heart swelling with pride.
“I’ve done it.” He muttered under his breath, eyes glistening. “The Golden Ball, it’s mine.”
Besides the Golden Ball, he also had a lot of other notable awards. But even their brilliance faded when placed next to the dazzling Golden Ball.
For a while, Hiro stared at the shelf. He couldn’t get enough, no matter how much he looked at it. The things he couldn’t even dream about before, now within his grasp.
“From a washed up… hic….” Despite his unwillingness to drink, he had drunk quite a bit this time. Though he hadn’t drunk that much, he had a rather low alcohol tolerance. “Fourth-rate player to the best player in the world…”
Even he couldn’t bring himself to believe what he had achieved.
Then he wobbled to the kitchen.
Being under the influence of alcohol, he found it difficult to maintain his balance. It felt like the world around him was spinning, and for some reason, he felt rather light, as if even a gust of wind could blow him away.
Wobbling, he reached for the fridge from where he grabbed a bottle of water.
He opened the bottle and then chugged the water inside in one gulp, emptying the bottle. For some reason, he had been dying of thirst.
“Gah!” He slammed the bottle against the table, unable to hold himself. Then he himself leaned against the table as if someone had pushed him from behind.
For a moment, he rested there. Then slowly, he lifted his head, “Urgh! I shouldn’t have drunk…”
He started regretting his decision to let loose.
“I’d better… head to bed…”
Somehow, he picked himself up and propelled himself to the bedroom.
Just as he got to his bedroom, he couldn’t hold himself any longer. Unable to hold himself, he fell face-first against the bed like a kite with broken strings.
Before long, Hiro passed out.
Even after an exhausting training session, he’d wash himself up before heading to bed. But this time, let alone washing up, he didn’t even have the strength to keep himself awake.
It was as if someone had pressed his shut-down button.
While Hiro was passed out, the world was buzzing. The media outlets were spreading the news of the event like wildfire. The office workers were overworked, each publishing house racing to publish the best possible article.
The streets of Madrid were lit in bright colors, and people flooded the streets, partying late into the night. The situation was the same in the streets of Japan.
With people celebrating this win as if their own, it was like a festival taking place.
Their cheerful voices filled the corners of the street, and the bartenders and waiters rushed to serve this lively bunch of people.
Even Hiro’s manager wasn’t spared.
Her inbox flooded with inquiries about the newest winner of the award. Brand deals, commercials, interview requests, and a lot of other things flooded in one after the other while her phone buzzed.
Despite the overwhelming number of requests she received, she continued to sort the requests to make it easier for her client.
“No. I need to hire a few other people.”
Hiro’s manager, who was getting bombarded with inquiries, finally snapped. From the number of requests she was receiving, she knew that she alone wouldn’t be enough.
Though this frustrated her, she also felt elated for her client.
With this, she knew that she wasn’t handling just another player, but rather she was now the manager of the best football player in the world.
The status of her client had soared to the high heavens.
Despite the overwhelming work, she could handle it alone. But now, even with her excellence, it was almost impossible to handle everything alone.
She knew that she needed a team of professionals.
Realizing the need for manpower, she paused her task and began to call for help. Using her connections, she poached some of the finest men in the industry.
It didn’t take her long enough to form a team.
Well, now one may wonder, how could she have made such an important decision on her own? Doesn’t she need the permission of her client?
To answer that, Hiro had once asked her if she needed other people to handle the task. But at that time, she had declined.
However, Hiro still insisted that if she required more people to do the task, then she was free to do so.
Taking that into account, she formed a team without his notice.
But it didn’t mean she’d keep him in the dark. She would report this change to him as soon as possible.
That was part of the reason for Hiro’s trust in her.
The next morning, Hiro woke up feeling rather light-headed.
“Urgh…” He groaned as he tried to open his eyes.
The bright light of the sun crept through the window, illuminating the room in a warm hue. The once dark room was lit in bright colors now.
The atmosphere of the room, however, was rather peaceful.
Scratching his head, Hiro lifted his head.
“Dream?” He mumbled, half-asleep.
The furniture was placed in its place, and the room was rather immaculate. There wasn’t a lot of furniture in the bedroom. Just the bed, the table, a chair, and a cupboard.
Besides them, there wasn’t much.
Hence, the room looked rather minimal and normal.
Waking up to this normal atmosphere, Hiro couldn’t help but wonder if he had been dreaming of winning the Golden Ball.
The dream felt so distant and real at the same time.
While he was contemplating, a ringing throb assaulted his head that made him wince in pain. He felt his head heavier than usual. It was as if someone had placed a weight above his head.
“Argh! Why am I having a headache?” Hiro grimaced.
He couldn’t recall the after-party where he had drunk.
