Chapter 849: To The Lawless City

Chapter 849: To The Lawless City

The next day, the continent still buzzed with talk of the war between the Ogre Tribe and the Dragon Blood Tribe — even children whispered about it in the streets.

Two names dominated every conversation, spoken with a mix of awe and fear: Queen Mireya of the Elven Kingdom and Vrasha of the Ogre Tribe.

“I heard Queen Mireya handled the ancestor of the Dragon Blood Tribe as if he were nothing — like a child’s play. She overpowered him without even lifting a finger!”

“Unbelievable! Just how powerful has the Queen of the Elves become since returning from the Human Continent?!” Newest update provided by N0velFire.et

“And that Ogre woman, Vrasha — she’s terrifyingly strong too! She killed both Kaelrath and the ancestor with nothing but brute force!”

Shocked whispers spread across every corner of the Beast Continent. People were stunned that the ancestor of the Dragon Blood Tribe — once regarded as the mightiest being alive — had fallen to a woman.

Two women had completely annihilated the Dragon Blood Tribe. This truth unsettled many beast tribes, who long held the belief that men were superior to women in every regard.

Yuan entered Mireya’s chambers, where everyone was preparing after bathing in the hot spring.

As he opened the door, he saw his wives gathered on the bed, chatting and laughing while Mireya playfully teased Kitsura with a mischievous smile.

“You ladies seem to be enjoying yourselves… Am I interrupting your little ’meeting’?” Yuan asked with a smile as he sat beside Anna Grace, slipping an arm around her waist.

“Not at all, Darling.” Anna Grace smiled, kissed his cheek, and shook her head. “You came at the perfect time. Look — Kitsura’s hair has changed since the battlefield.”

Yuan’s eyes immediately fell on Kitsura. Her hair, once light brown, now gleamed like spun gold — shining brilliantly under the magic lamp’s glow. She appeared not only more radiant but also more alluring, her new aura marking her growth as a cultivator.

“You look incredible, Kitsura…” Yuan said in awe as he reached for her hand and pulled her into his embrace.

“T-Thank you…” Kitsura murmured shyly, her cheeks flushed as she buried her face in his chest, embarrassed in front of everyone.

Yuan kissed her briefly, a tender yet passionate gesture, before lifting his gaze toward Mireya and the others. His expression turned serious, and his wives immediately understood — he was about to speak of something important.

“In a few moments, it will be afternoon,” Yuan began, his expression solemn. “I think it’s best we head to the Lawless City now. We need to locate the headquarters of the Green Viper Organization inside the city.”

“Furthermore, I must gather some vital information from the Black Market before we face the Green Viper Organization — information about the Dark Continent,” Yuan revealed, and his wives turned to him with looks of surprise.

Anna Grace and the others stared in stunned silence. The Dark Continent was unlike any other in this world.

It was a land teeming with dark creatures — demons, succubi, werewolves, witches, vampires, and undead abominations. Countless monsters prowled its lands, far stronger and stranger than anything found elsewhere.

After a moment of thought, Rose nodded with a faint smile. “It’s wise to learn more about the Dark Continent before we actually go there. We have no clear understanding of their way of life, and every race living there bears deep hatred toward humans.”

“Indeed. The people of the Dark Continent despise humans because the Holy Church constantly tries to invade their lands,” Mireya added, nodding firmly.

She continued, “Because of the Church’s actions, the entire Dark Continent resents humans — especially those tied to the Holy Church.”

“Also, we must be wary of the vampires. They cannot control themselves when they smell humans — especially human blood,” Kitsura said with a seductive smile, settling beside Mireya once more.

“And not only vampires,” she went on, “but the witches, succubi, and werewolves will also seek to approach us — and none of their intentions will be good.”

“I see…” Yuan murmured after a short silence. “I have some ideas about the vampires, but I know little of the other races.”

Some time later, Mireya penned a letter to the Elven Council, informing them she would be absent from the palace for a while.

Although the Council was displeased with her decision to leave the kingdom again, they had no authority to stop her.

“I can’t believe our Queen is acting like a carefree child at her age… Doesn’t she realize how much work there is to be done?” Elder Davis muttered with a heavy sigh.

Elder Camilla set the letter on the desk and let out a soft chuckle. “You can’t blame her… she does everything for a noble cause. She’s making our kingdom stronger.”

“I understand, Lady Camilla. Still, it doesn’t justify her leaving the palace so often. She only just returned from the war!” Elder Davis protested.

“Let it be, Elder Davis. We can’t stop her. I only wonder where she’s off to this time…” Camilla replied, folding her hands.

“How long will it take us to reach the Lawless City?” Emma asked as they emerged from the palace.

“About ten minutes at top speed, twenty if we take it easy,” Mireya answered, retrieving her flying sword and rising into the sky.

Yuan and the others followed her lead, ascending toward the Lawless City — the most dangerous settlement on the Beast Continent.

Moments later the massive city spread beneath them, its streets alive with people and illuminated by countless lights. Merchants hawked wares, and sellers crowded the avenues.

The city had everything — but at a cost. Even honest traders came here for business; to stay safe they had to pay a protection fee to the dominant organizations.

Once paid, no one disturbed them for the duration of the protection. When the time ran out, however, their safety was their own responsibility.

“The city looks dazzling, but it lacks life. I can smell blood and corruption from up here,” Yuan muttered, his gaze hardening.

With his Divine Sense he glimpsed the rot beneath the surface: slavery, prostitution, murder, illegal drugs — and underground cage fights. “Everyone here is a criminal. Some commit small crimes, but most—ninety percent—commit heinous acts,” Sylvia said, her face severe as she surveyed the city below.

She pointed toward the northern district. “Our first stop is the Sky Eagle Syndicate — they specialize in information. If we want to learn about the Dark Continent, that’s where we’ll find it. But it won’t be free; we’ll have to pay handsomely.”

“That’s the area the Sky Eagle Syndicate controls. We can find directions by questioning anyone — if they won’t talk, a little intimidation and a few broken bones usually do the trick,” Sylvia added with a wide grin, cracking her knuckles.

“In that case, let’s hurry and finish this. We also need to pay the Green Viper Organization a visit — they can’t keep us waiting after what they tried in the palace,” Mireya said, anger sharpening her tone.

Shortly after, Yuan and his wives descended into a shadowed lane in the northern district, where few people lingered. Those who were present paid them no mind.

“Let’s go,” Yuan said as he spotted a lone patrolman further down the street. “That fellow can tell us where the Sky Eagle Syndicate’s headquarters are.”

A few seconds later they reached the guard. He glanced at Yuan in puzzlement — then his eyes fell on the women beside him, and he froze, stunned by their otherworldly beauty.

The man seemed to forget how to breathe, as if he had stepped into a hall of gods and lost his sense of the world.

Yuan’s eyes twitched at the guard’s stare. Fury flared — he wanted nothing more than to plant a fist in the man’s face.

But he needed directions, so he held himself back. That didn’t mean he’d stay silent forever. Once he got what he wanted, the guard would die.

After all, the man wasn’t innocent; this was a city of criminals. Only criminals lived and worked here. It was their heaven.

“Can you tell me where I can find the Sky Eagle Syndicate’s headquarters?” Yuan asked, his voice firm as he let a sliver of his cultivation show.

The patrolman snapped back to himself as if a hand had clamped around his throat — suffocated by a presence that felt like death incarnate.

“I—Uh… W-What did you just ask?” he stammered, swallowing as his whole body trembled under Yuan’s gaze.

’Who the hell is this brat?! Why am I shaking like this?!’ the man screamed in his head, certain he would die if he stared too long into the handsome young man’s eyes.

“Ahem.” Yuan cleared his throat and repeated more slowly, “I asked where I can find the Sky Eagle Syndicate’s headquarters.”

Relief washed over the guard when he realized Yuan only sought directions. He exhaled and answered quickly.

“Oh — so you’ve business with us. Go three blocks from here, then turn left. You’ll see a crowded bar; that’s our headquarters.”

Yuan nodded, satisfied that he’d saved time by not resorting to force.

“Since you told me what I wanted to know… you may die in peace now,” he said coldly, and then unleashed his Qi Manifestation on the guard.

Splash!!

With a wet, sudden sound, the guard’s head burst and his body slumped to the ground. He didn’t even have time to process Yuan’s words before death took him.
