Chapter 1619: Breaking Barriers: The Third Trial (14)

Whoosh! Whoosh!

“…Oh?”

“It seems he’s made a breakthrough with his movement skill.”

Although this would be the third time Ataraxia would be showcasing his movement skill in front of him, Aeramis still looked at all the skills he made with interest, considering that the young man was currently still in the early stages of piecing the skill together.

Whoosh!

However, just as he thought that he’d be greeted by the sight of yet another incomplete movement skill, the man was instead caught off guard, noticing that the movement skill Ataraxia had used to traverse the swamp was quite complete already.

“That fast?” Perched on top of a tall tree, the man’s eyes widened in slight disbelief as this sight entered his vision.

“During his first and second attempt, he took around half a day to showcase a complete skill for the trial.”

“On the other hand, it’s only been around three hours or so, yet he’s already laid down all of the necessary framework for his skill?”

Continuing to watch the young man move through the swamp as if it were flatland, Aeramis’ mouth went slightly agape, feeling greater shock at the young man’s movements as he continued to watch the latter.

At the same time, he could not help but feel a slight hint of deja vu from the current situation.

After all, from what he could tell after looking at Ataraxia’s movement skill for a long while, there was a high chance that the young man would be able to reach the limit of the third trial.

Just like what he did in the first two trials.

“On his first trial, it took him a single attempt to get the hang of the mechanics, eventually going above and beyond in terms of the stats he gained to reach its limit.”

“As for the second trial, although his second attempt ended up being way worse than the result he got from his first attempt, he was still able to salvage his final attempt and reach the limit.”

Seeing as Ataraxia had also exhausted all three attempts during this trial, a hint of fear, as well as anticipation and excitement appeared on Aeramis’ face.

“Unlike the second trial, his results improved with every attempt he took in this one.”

“In fact, now that I take a closer look at it, his approach towards the creation of his movement skill has drastically changed from the first two attempts,” muttered the man to himself, pushing his perception to get a better sense of what he was looking at.

“Not only is the circuit far more powerful than before, the way he utilizes the circuit’s power doesn’t involve any… accompanying… movement…”

“…at all?”

“…”

After realizing that Ataraxia’s current movement skill did not utilize any accompanying movements to transform the circuit’s power, Aeramis briefly fell silent, a whirlwind of thoughts coursing through his mind at that very moment.

“Man…” Fortunately, the man was able to sort out his thoughts after some time, letting out a long exhale as the way he looked at the young man had changed.

“At first, I still looked at him as if he were an incredibly talented genius,” muttered the man to himself, a wry smile creeping up onto his lips. “Though it still astounded me that he was able to reach the limits of the first two trials, it was still within the realm of being possible.”

“Yet, with him not having touched any aspect of skill creation before the third trial, he was able to create a False Intent-tier movement skill that doesn’t rely on movement?”

“Even I wouldn’t be achieve that kind of feat if I were in his shoes,” continued the man, the wry smile on his face intensifying.

“At this point, it would be far more apt to call him the most monstrous prodigy to ever grace this inheritance of mine.”

“…”

“…Wait.”

“…Did he actually integrate two Intent Seeds into his movement skill?”

“…Phew.”

Whoosh!

Dispelling the magic circle he had conjured behind his back, Ataraxia returned to the starting point of the clearing with a satisfied smile on his face.

“Thanks to the swamp’s tricky terrain, I was able to optimize my usage of the skill’s magic circles,” muttered the young man to himself, the gears in his mind turning as he checked if it was possible to further optimize his movement skill.

“Aside from that, I was able to combine two of the magic circles together, reducing the total number of circles down to eight.”

As these words left his mouth, the young man briefly thought back to the time he spent honing his control over his new movement skill.

Unsurprisingly, during the first time he tried using the movement skill, the amount of power he infused into the magic circle was a bit too much, causing him to fall face first into the ground rather than propel forward.

With him ending up eating dirt and other sediments a few more times after that, the young man spent some time honing his control over the power output first, deciding to use the entire movement skill only after he was confident.

Thankfully, with [Perception of the Grand Origin] aiding in his comprehension and absorption of experience, it did not take long for him to get the hang of things, spending around half an hour refining his control before making use of the whole movement skill.

Of course, with control over the circles’ output now under his grasp, it also did not take long for him to get used to moving with the new movement skill, understanding that his movement relied not only on the type of magic circle he used, but also on the spot where he conjured it.

With his main class that of a mage and his subclass that of a spell scribe, he was eventually able to make full use of the movement skill’s power, giving him the ability to accelerate to maximum speed within a matter of minutes.

Not only that, but the fact that he could conjure a magic circle to change his movement at any time drastically improved his maneuverability around obstacles, allowing him to pass through the swamp’s 200 stone pillars without getting hit once.

However, compared to the speed or the maneuverability the new movement skill offered, the part that excited Ataraxia the most was the fact that the movement skill surprisingly worked better with his mana circuit activated.

Because of that, the young man was pretty much confident that he’d reach the limit of the third trial, if not show Aeramis a performance that exceeded the trial’s four criteria.

Though, just as he had told the man that he was ready to proceed with the third attempt, the latter told him something that left him at a loss for words.
