Chapter 608: Chapter 314: Reaching an Agreement
"Yes," Ma Yue replied, once again clasping his hands in assent.
After Ma Yue departed, Cheng Zongyang did not linger at home either, instead preparing to leave Zi’an County to handle some business.
’Since the traffic in and out of the Cheng Mansion has attracted some attention, I’ll need to change locations.’
’For this new place, my only option is to try the mountains.’
’In fact, the best location would be a village that might exist nearby. If I could establish a village of my own, I wouldn’t have to worry about more people arriving in the future. But that method is unrealistic.’
’Therefore, I can only find a spot in the mountains and have the Mole Beast dig a cave deep into the mountainside.’
’Afterward, as long as I set up a Defense Array and an Array to shield against Divine Sense probes at the entrance and within, I basically won’t have to worry about anyone exploring the mountains discovering the Teleportation Array’s existence.’
He did not take a carriage. Instead, he strolled back home as if taking a leisurely walk, dismantled the Teleportation Array, and then made his way toward the South Gate.
However, just as Cheng Zongyang arrived at the South Gate and was preparing to leave, he abruptly spun around and headed back. As a result, he came face-to-face with several people who had frozen in place, their expressions stunned.
Seeing their stunned looks, it seemed they never expected that Cheng Zongyang, who had appeared oblivious the whole way, would actually pull such a move.
Cheng Zongyang, however, paid them no mind, instead walking toward one of them—a young man with an average face. Sensing the level of his qi and blood, he was merely an Upper Three Grades Martial Artist.
He was extremely inconspicuous within the South District, making him the perfect person for a tracking mission.
"Don’t worry. How about a chat over there?" Cheng Zongyang gestured toward a tea stall near the city wall.
As a result, the man was about to turn and leave, but in the next moment, Cheng Zongyang grabbed his shoulder. "It’s true that we can’t cause trouble inside the County Town," he said. "But if you walk away, I don’t mind starting a fight with you right here. When that happens, the people behind you will naturally send someone to handle it. And you’ll be the one to go down for failing your task."
"You want to know who sent me?" The young man was well aware of Cheng Zongyang’s intentions for stopping him.
Cheng Zongyang chuckled. "Smart. So, are you willing to talk?"
The young man shrugged his shoulder, and seeing this, Cheng Zongyang smoothly withdrew his hand.
The young man stared at Cheng Zongyang and said, "I don’t know what’s so interesting about you to be worth tracking, but there’s no harm in telling you. The Celestial Net Gang sent us. The goal was just to track your movements, nothing more."
"Us? Who else?" Cheng Zongyang looked in the direction where the others had already departed.
The young man responded, "There were only three of us. The other two were from the Red Flame Gang."
At this, Cheng Zongyang’s brow furrowed.
He had, of course, already familiarized himself with the various factions in Zi’an County. The two gangs the man mentioned were both in the South District and composed entirely of Martial Artists. Their strongest members were at the Innate Great Perfection realm.
But the South District wasn’t home to just these two gangs; there were five others, for a total of seven gangs spread throughout the area.
These gangs, in turn, had connections to the Cultivation Immortality Gang Influence and Cultivation Immortality Clan Influence in the North and East Districts.
Cheng Zongyang didn’t know if he was being targeted because of the previous incident with the Foundation Establishment Pill, or because of the recent influx of people at the Cheng Mansion.
But regardless of the reason, he didn’t want to be bothered. As for whether Su Wuwei and the others might be captured and interrogated for related secrets, he was not concerned.
’They’ve signed the Oath Contract. They couldn’t talk even if they wanted to. Speaking would only be a path to death.’
Cheng Zongyang looked at the young man and said calmly, "Go back and tell your Gang Leader that it’s best if we stay out of each other’s way. If you track me again, I don’t mind eliminating your gang’s leadership first. As for whether I have the nerve to do it, you’re welcome to try me."
With that, he allowed the man to leave.
This was Zi’an County, and he still wanted to conduct business in the County Town, so naturally, he wouldn’t break the rules of the Immortal Sect. But that didn’t mean he would just endure it if they genuinely came after him.
’I can’t make a move myself, but there are always people willing to risk their lives for Spirit Stones. The Immortal Sect’s branch office has plenty of bounties available.’
