Chapter 538: Chapter 287: The Two Places’ "Boatman" (Part 2)

After the other three left to look around, Cheng Zongyang also departed, heading for the Spring Pavilion.

Before his previous departure, he had sent a letter to Lady Qin, simply letting her know he would be away for some time. They were friends, after all, and he didn’t want her to come looking for him one day only to find him gone.

The chances of that were slim, though.

He spent five Spirit Crystals on a carriage ride to the Spring Pavilion.

The door was open, and he could hear people chatting on the second floor. He glanced inside. The main hall of the Spring Pavilion was rather dim, with only two young girls sweeping the floor.

KNOCK KNOCK. Cheng Zongyang rapped on the doorframe. "Is Lady Qin in?"

Cheng Zongyang’s sudden voice startled the two young girls, who were sweeping with their backs to the entrance. They spun around in a hurry.

The two of them breathed a small sigh of relief when they saw it was Cheng Zongyang.

They recognized him.

"Young Master Cheng, are you looking for Lady Qin?" one of the girls, who looked about fifteen or sixteen, asked after stepping forward and giving a small curtsy.

Cheng Zongyang nodded slightly. "She’s not in?"

The girl shook her head. "She took a client to view a property and hasn’t returned yet. If your business isn’t confidential, you can tell us, and we’ll pass the message along."

Cheng Zongyang smiled. "Then I’ll have to trouble you. Just tell her I have a business proposal. I’ll be home for the next couple of days, so she can come by to discuss it."

"Of course. Anything else?" The girl nodded, accepting the request.

"That’s all." Cheng Zongyang clasped his fist in a gesture of thanks and then left.

After leaving the Spring Pavilion, Cheng Zongyang thought for a moment before heading toward the market stalls in the South District.

This time, he wanted to see what prices certain items could fetch in his market cabin. If it was profitable, he could start purchasing them in bulk to earn a margin on the price difference.

His current balance of Points was still insufficient. If he wanted to make Jade Peak Immortal City worthy of its name, he would need to pour massive amounts of resources into it. At the same time, he could also acquire items like silver and Gold.

’Based on what I’ve learned, this world is rich in Fire Spirits from the Fire Realm and Ice Spirits from the Ice Realm. Those two are the most common and have the widest applications. I should test them out.’

As he walked, Cheng Zongyang continued to ponder which items could yield a profit margin.

About fifteen minutes later, he arrived at a market area in the South District, near the South Gate.

In the South District, numerous markets like this were scattered about, providing a livelihood for ordinary people and Martial Artists alike.

"Come and see! Tier One Ice Spirits gathered from the Ice Realm! Only three Low Grade Spirit Stones each!"

"...Your Exotic Beast Flesh is too expensive! Everyone else is charging three Spirit Crystals a catty, and you want four..."

"How many of these Fire Spirits do you have..."

"Come on, come on! Fresh Spirit Rice! One Low Grade Spirit Stone a catty, first come, first served..."

"..."

As Cheng Zongyang walked through the market, he mentally noted the items he could potentially buy or sell.

—To Purchase: Exotic Beast Flesh and Blood, Spirit Rice, Fire Spirits, Ice Spirits...

—To Sell: Wilderness Rice, seafood, common meats...

Exotic Beast Flesh and Blood was quite useful. It would be an excellent choice whether he sold it in the Martial Arts Realm or had his own people consume it.

Giving the Exotic Beast Blood to Zhang Jinquan to cultivate Growth Liquid or refine into Martial Arts Elixirs was also a good option.

Cheng Zongyang knew he wouldn’t be able to buy any Demon Beast Flesh in the South District. Creatures like Demon Beasts were simply beyond the hunting capabilities of ordinary people and Martial Artists.

As for the Fire Spirits and Ice Spirits, they were special materials that naturally formed in their respective realms.

These Tier One Fire Spirits and Ice Spirits appeared in the outer regions of the realms. Ordinary people and Martial Artists could venture in to explore as long as they had adequate protection against the cold and heat. However, the temperature became more extreme—colder in the Ice Realm, hotter in the Fire Realm—the deeper one went. So, as long as they didn’t venture too far in, there were generally no major issues. The probability of encountering a Demon Beast was also extremely low.

The prices offered by established shops were slightly low, so many people set up their own stalls to earn a little extra.

For this very reason, many Martial Artists and even ordinary people were willing to risk venturing into the realms to find these profitable materials.

However, Zi’an County was primarily close to the Fire Realm, so Fire Spirits were more commonly sold. Still, there were people who took the Teleportation Array to the Ice Realm to gather Ice Spirits.

After getting a feel for the prices, Cheng Zongyang bought some Ice Spirits and Fire Spirits and sent them to his market cabin for Luo Dingran to try selling.

Tier One Ice Spirits and Fire Spirits both cost three Spirit Stones a piece, with each one being about the size of an adult’s thumb. This showed that the materials were quite valuable.

After handing the items over to Luo Dingran, Cheng Zongyang happened to pass by a stall. He glanced at the items spread out on the ground; they were various kinds of Weapons.

"Take a look, young man! These are Weapons used by Cultivators. They’re a little damaged, sure, but they’re still much stronger than your average Divine Weapon."

"No, thank you." Cheng Zongyang smiled, politely declining as he continued to browse the stalls on either side.

Cheng Zongyang had no interest in these kinds of Weapons. He had previously compared the First Grade Magical Artifacts from the Ice and Fire Cultivation Immortality Realm with the Magical Artifacts he’d seen in the Jade Stone Market.

Although they were all designated First Grade, the First Grade Magical Artifacts previously sold in the Jade Stone Market had all been Top Grade within that tier.

The price, however, made him extremely glad that he hadn’t bought any back then due to his inability to use them. The only thing he had purchased was the Flying Cloud Shuttle.

In Zi’an County, the best First Grade Magical Artifacts he could find were merely high-grade, and their price was only around a thousand Spirit Stones.

In his market cabin, that price was equivalent to about one thousand Points.

’But the ones sold in the Jade Stone Market back then were all over ten thousand Points. Even if they were Top Grade, the price difference shouldn’t be ten times as much, should it?’

He didn’t know the price of a Top Grade Magical Artifact in the Ice and Fire Cultivation Immortality Realm, so he didn’t dwell on it. Besides, it’s not like he had bought one.
