Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 95 Shy... Friend

Chapter 95: Chapter 95 Shy... Friend

The maid admitted. "I don’t know, Madam. She doesn’t tell anyone. She simply leaves through the front gate and the guards let her pass."

Jenna repeated, her voice turning icy. "The guards let her pass?"

Her expression darkened.

Why would they allow her to leave so freely? She had specifically instructed them not to let Daisy outside unless she was going to visit that old man. So why were they letting her walk out every single day without question?

Did she somehow gain their sympathy?

Or worse...

Did she seduce them?

Jenna immediately dismissed the thought with another, equally bitter one. That innocent face of hers... men are easily fooled by it.

She stood up again.

Jenna said in a calm but commanding voice. "Listen carefully. From today onward, I want to know everything. Where she goes. Who she meets. What time she leaves. What time she comes back. I don’t want a single detail missed."

The maid swallowed nervously. "Yes, Madam."

"And one more thing." Jenna’s eyes grew colder. "Don’t let Daisy realize she’s being watched. If she becomes suspicious..." She paused deliberately. "...you’ll be the one explaining yourself to me."

"I understand, Madam."

The call ended.

Jenna slowly lowered the phone, her eyes fixed on the dark screen.

The next three days passed more smoothly than Daisy had ever imagined.

Every morning, she quietly left the mansion and made her way to the laboratory with a small smile hidden on her face. She was enjoying her job so much that it felt better than staying at home.

The moment she stepped through those doors, she felt like she could breathe.

She loved learning. Every new machine fascinated her. Every explanation taught by Ace and the other researchers made her eyes sparkle with curiosity. She carried her little pastel orange notebook everywhere to communicate with others.

The researchers quickly grew fond of her.

Although she couldn’t speak, Daisy communicated through expressive gestures, warm smiles and messages typed on her phone. Before long, everyone had unconsciously started including her in their conversations. They patiently waited while she typed her replies and gradually, many of them even began understanding her simple hand gestures.

She had made friends with almost everyone there.

Mona, the pink-haired gossip queen, had become her lunch buddy and had already learned several signs.

Ace was patient and encouraging, always pushing her to think deeper.

The others in the lab greeted her warmly each morning and some had even started learning a few basic signs just to communicate with her more easily.

Whenever she struggled with a task, someone was always willing to help. During lunch breaks, they invited her to sit with them, making sure she never felt left out.

During those three days, she also met Rafael and Alessio several times.

Sometimes they came to inspect a project. Sometimes they had meetings with the research team.

Other times, Rafael simply wandered into the laboratory to chat with everyone before somehow dragging Alessio along with him.

Rafael always had a joke ready, a grin on his face and an endless supply of energy. Alessio was his usual quiet self, standing in the background, observing, saying little.

Every evening, when work ended, the brothers would notice Daisy preparing to leave.

Without making a fuss, Rafael would grin and ask, "Need a lift?"

Before Daisy could politely refuse, Alessio would already unlock the car.

"...Get in."

His words were always short. His expression rarely changed. Yet somehow, the offer never failed to appear.

At first, Daisy felt guilty accepting. She thanked them every single time, bowing politely before getting into the car. But eventually, the evening rides became an unspoken routine.

Rafael filled the car with endless chatter, while Alessio quietly drove, occasionally joining the conversation with only a word or two. Daisy usually sat in the back seat, listening with a gentle smile as the two brothers bickered over the smallest things.

Little by little, she stopped feeling awkward around them.

Without even realizing it, Daisy had begun thinking of Alessio as... a friend.

He wasn’t very talkative. He often looked cold. Most people would probably assume he disliked everyone around him.

But Daisy didn’t think so.

She had quietly noticed the little things others overlooked. The way he always opened the car door for her without saying anything. The way he slowed his walking pace whenever she was behind him. The way he patiently waited while she typed messages on her phone instead of rushing her.

He was simply... shy.

At least, that was the conclusion Daisy had reached in her own heart.

So, without making it obvious, she quietly started treating him like a friend.

She would save him a seat whenever they stopped for coffee with the laboratory staff. If she noticed snacks on the table that he seemed to like, she would gently slide the plate a little closer to him without saying a word. Sometimes she even smiled at him first.

Today’s assignment made Daisy unusually nervous.

For the first time since joining the laboratory, she had to report the progress of the current research directly to the department manager. It was a routine task, something every new employee had to do but for Daisy, it felt monumental.

Because she couldn’t speak, she had carefully prepared everything in advance. Every observation, every result and every important point had been neatly written down in her notebook so she could simply hand it over instead of explaining it verbally.

She had spent the entire previous evening reviewing her notes, making sure everything was clear and organized.

Taking a quiet breath to steady herself, Daisy walked down the hallway until she stopped outside the manager’s office. The door was slightly ajar, and she could see Mr. Higgins inside, shuffling through papers on his desk.

She gently knocked on the wooden door.

Mr. Higgins’ voice came from inside, smooth and professional. "Come in."

Daisy slowly opened the door and stepped in alone. The office was small but tidy with a desk, filing cabinets, and a window that overlooked the parking lot. Mr. Higgins sat behind the desk, his round face framed by his bald head, his brown suit slightly too tight.

Mr. Higgins looked up from his paperwork.

The moment he saw Daisy, his eyes remained fixed on her.

She stood there quietly in a simple cream blouse tucked into a light beige skirt that reached below her knees. There was nothing flashy about her appearance. No expensive jewelry. No heavy makeup. Her caramel hair was tied back in a neat ponytail and her face was bare except for a touch of soft pink on her lips.

Yet she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Her delicate features, clear skin, and naturally gentle expression made her stand out without even trying.

She’s probably the most beautiful employee in this entire building, Mr. Higgins thought. His eyes lingered on her face, tracing the curve of her cheek, the softness of her lips, the way her dark eyes seemed to hold a quiet depth.

Such a beautiful face...

A pity, he mused to himself. If only she could speak. God gave her extraordinary beauty, yet forgot to give her a voice. What a waste.
