Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 89 Lab

Chapter 89: Chapter 89 Lab

Along the far wall, tall shelves held neatly labeled jars of dried flowers, spices, and essential oils. Daisy recognized lavender, rose and jasmine but there were others she couldn’t name, exotic and intoxicating.

In the center of the room, a large stainless steel table was covered with notes, pipettes and small vials. A few workers in white coats moved between stations, their movements focused and efficient, their voices low as they discussed formulas and concentrations.

Daisy’s eyes widened. She had never seen anything like this. Her small room with its hidden bottles and dried flowers was nothing compared to this. This was a real laboratory. She felt excited seeing this.

The woman who had brought her smiled at Daisy’s expression. "Impressive, right? This is our main lab. We do most of our development work here. Your workstation will be over there."

She pointed toward a desk near the window, a clean space with a computer, a notebook and a small set of tools waiting for her.

Daisy nodded, her heart pounding with excitement.

"Let me introduce you to some of the team," the woman said.

She led Daisy around the lab, introducing her to various people. A woman with curly hair and glasses who specialized in base notes. A man with a kind face and gentle eyes who handled quality control. A younger woman who was training in the floral department. Each of them greeted Daisy with warm smiles, their eyes curious but kind.

Daisy typed quick responses on her phone, introducing herself with small waves and written words. Everyone was welcoming, treating her normally, not staring or whispering. She felt herself relax, the tension slowly leaving her shoulders.

The woman finally stopped in front of a worktable near the center of the lab.

"And this is Ace Polam," she said. "He will be your senior for the next few months. You will be working under him while you get trained. He’s one of our best perfumers."

Daisy looked up at the man in front of her.

She recognized him immediately. He was the same man who had opened the door on her interview day. The one with the clean face, beautiful hunter eyes, and black curtain hair. He was wearing a white lab coat now, with a small notebook tucked into his pocket. His eyes were warm, his expression friendly.

He smiled at her. "Hi. My name is Ace Polam. I will be guiding you during your training period."

Daisy blinked. She pulled out her phone and typed quickly.

I am Daisy Winter. It is nice to meet you properly.

She held out the screen.

Ace read the words and nodded. He wasn’t surprised. He had already been told that the new person was mute. But he didn’t look at her with pity or awkwardness. He just smiled again.

"Welcome to the lab, Daisy. I’ll show you your workstation and get you started on some basics. We’ll take it slow at first. Let you get comfortable."

Daisy nodded, relief washing over her. His calm, easy demeanor made her feel at ease. He didn’t seem to judge her or pity her. He just treated her like a colleague.

Ace gestured toward the desk near the window. "That’s your spot. You’ll have everything you need there—computer, notebook, basic equipment. We’ll get you access to the compound databases soon, but for now, we’ll start with the fundamentals."

Daisy followed him to her desk, her steps light. She looked at the clean surface, the blank notebook, the small set of tools. She felt like she was stepping into a new Chapter of her life.

She smiled.

Ace stood beside her, watching her expression. "The first few weeks will be research and observation. I want you to study the notes and some of our classic formulas. Understand the structure before you start creating. We will talk about your ideas once you are familiar with the company approach."

Daisy nodded again, her eyes still fixed on her new desk.

Ace saw her excitement and smiled a little. He was a junior, just a few years older than her, but his calm presence made him feel approachable. He pointed at the notebook on her desk. "You can use that for notes and sketches. If you have ideas, write them down. We’ll discuss them."

Daisy looked at the notebook, then back at him. She typed on her phone quickly.

Thank you. I’ll do my best.

Ace read the screen and nodded. "I’m sure you will."

He gave her a small, encouraging smile before walking back to his own workstation.

Daisy sat down at her desk and looked around the lab. She felt unreal.. like she was in a dream.

She looked at her notebook. She picked up the pen and wrote her name at the top of the first page.

Daisy Winter.

She stared at the words for a moment, a small smile tugging at her lips.

A woman approached her, carrying a folded white lab coat and a pair of gloves. She was middle-aged, with kind eyes and a practical demeanor.

"Here you go," she said, handing the items to Daisy. "You’ll need to wear these whenever you’re working in the lab. And make sure you tie your hair back. Safety first."

Daisy nodded seriously, accepting the coat and gloves. She immediately pulled her caramel hair into a tight ponytail, securing it with the elastic band she always kept on her wrist. She slipped on the lab coat, its crisp fabric settling over her blouse, and pulled on the gloves.

She felt official.

She looked up and met Ace’s gaze. He was watching her from his workstation, a faint smile on his face.

"Ready to start?" he asked.

Daisy nodded.

Ace walked over to her desk and pulled up a chair. He sat down beside her, flipping open a notebook that was filled with neat, detailed handwriting.

"Okay," he said. "Let’s go over some fundamentals. I know you have a degree in perfumery, but every lab has its own methods and standards. I’ll walk you through how we approach things here."

He began explaining the basics of their process. The way they measured compounds. The way they structured their formulas. The importance of documentation and consistency. He talked about their signature style, the way they balanced traditional techniques with modern innovation.

Daisy listened, her eyes fixed on his notes, her mind absorbing everything he said.
