Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 173 Little hamster

Chapter 173: Chapter 173 Little hamster

"It’s getting late," Alessio said, glancing down at his watch before looking at Daisy again.

The hospital corridor had become much quieter now, with only the occasional footsteps of a nurse passing by and the soft sounds coming from the rooms.

Daisy looked exhausted too. Her eyes were heavy and she kept blinking slowly as though she was trying very hard to stay awake.

Dark circles had formed beneath her eyes and her shoulders drooped with fatigue.

She glanced toward Cedric’s room and then toward the other end of the corridor, clearly caught between going back inside and finding somewhere else to sleep.

Alessio noticed her hesitation. "You don’t want to go back there, do you?"

Daisy immediately shook her head, her hair swaying with the motion.

He raised an eyebrow. "Thought so."

She looked at him with slightly puckered lips and made a small, frustrated gesture, silently explaining that she had been told to stay with Cedric. She also pointed toward herself and then made a gesture that meant she had work tomorrow.

"You’re going to the lab tomorrow too?" he asked.

Daisy nodded.

"After spending the entire day here?"

Another nod.

He stared at her for a moment. His green eyes scanned her face, taking in the exhaustion that she was trying so hard to hide. The shadows under her eyes were deeper than before and there was a paleness to her skin that hadn’t been there earlier.

"You’re going to collapse."

Daisy frowned at him, her brows knitting together.

"I mean it." He pointed toward her sleepy face. "Look at you. Your eyes are barely open."

She immediately rubbed her eyes and gave him an offended look, her lips pressing into a thin line.

Alessio chuckled. "See? Even your eyes are agreeing with me."

Daisy rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

He glanced at his watch again before casually saying, "Actually, I booked a VIP room here."

Daisy’s tired expression changed instantly. Her eyes widened and the exhaustion seemed to lift from her face for just a moment.

Alessio noticed the transformation and almost laughed. "But it’s a pity I’m not going to use it tonight. I have to leave."

Daisy stared at him. Then her eyes slowly brightened. She pointed toward the room, her finger jabbing in that direction eagerly.

Alessio tilted his head. "You want it?"

Daisy nodded. Once. Then again. Then she started nodding so quickly that her hair bounced around her shoulders.

Alessio couldn’t hold back his laugh. "Whoa, whoa, slow down."

Daisy stopped, her eyes still fixed on him expectantly. Her hands were clasped together as if she was pleading silently.

He looked at her amusedly. "You didn’t even hesitate."

She pointed at the room again, more insistently this time.

"I know, I know." He laughed. "You want the room."

Daisy nodded firmly, her expression serious.

Alessio pretended to think about it. He tapped his chin, looking up at the ceiling as if weighing his options. "Hmm..."

Daisy’s eyes widened impatiently. Her foot tapped against the floor.

He looked at her sleepy face and deliberately took his time. "I suppose I could give it to you."

Daisy’s face immediately brightened. Her whole expression transformed and she looked like she had just been handed the best gift in the world.

"Alright, alright." He chuckled. "You can have it."

She smiled happily, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

Alessio looked at her for a moment before adding, "Seeing how desperate you are for a bed, I suppose I have no choice."

Daisy’s smile vanished. Her eyes narrowed, and she stared at him with a mock offense.

Alessio’s lips twitched. "Don’t look at me like that, little hamster."

Daisy’s eyes widened in disbelief. Slowly, she pointed at herself. Then at him. Then she pointed an accusing finger at his chest. Her expression clearly said, Who are you calling a hamster, mister?

Alessio looked down at her finger resting against his chest. Then he looked back at her face with an innocent expression. "Daisy."

She blinked.

He nodded solemnly. "That’s who I’m calling."

Daisy stared at him. Her mouth fell slightly open. She looked genuinely offended, her cheeks puffing out slightly.

Alessio finally laughed. "Okay, okay, don’t be angry."

Daisy lightly smacked his arm.

He immediately looked at her in exaggerated shock. "Violence?"

She folded her arms, her chin lifted defiantly.

"You just attacked an injured man."

Daisy pointed toward his bandaged hand. Then she gave him a look that clearly said, Not your whole arm.

Alessio glanced at his perfectly fine arm. He nodded thoughtfully. "Fair point."

Daisy looked pleased with herself.

He leaned slightly closer. "But you’re still my little hamster."

Her eyes widened again. She immediately raised her hand, ready to smack him a second time.

Alessio laughed and stepped back. "Alright! Alright! I’ll stop."

Daisy continued glaring.

He smiled. "For tonight."

She shook her head and turned away, clearly refusing to entertain him anymore.

Alessio followed beside her.

After a few steps, he glanced down at her. "You know, you really do look like one."

Daisy stopped walking. Alessio stopped too.

She stared at him.

He pointed toward her cheeks. "These."

Daisy immediately covered her cheeks with both hands, her eyes wide.

Alessio laughed. "I’m not insulting you."

She narrowed her eyes.

"I’m complimenting you."

Daisy looked suspicious.

He smiled. "You’re cute."

Her cheeks immediately became pink, spreading across her face like a soft blush.

Alessio noticed. His smile became wider. "Oh?"

Daisy quickly looked away.

"Did my little hamster get shy?"

She shook her head vigorously.

"You’re blushing."

She shook her head again.

"Definitely blushing."

Daisy covered her face completely.

Alessio laughed softly. "Alright, alright. I’ll stop teasing you."

She lowered her hands and gave him a suspicious look.

He smiled innocently. "For now."

Daisy rolled her eyes and started walking again.

Alessio followed, looking far too pleased with himself.

When they reached the VIP room, he opened the door and gestured for her to go inside.

"Here."

Daisy looked inside. The room was spacious and comfortable with a large bed, a small sofa, a private bathroom and everything she needed for the night. The sheets looked new and clean and the soft lighting made the room feel warm and inviting.
