Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 141 What are you talking about?

Chapter 141: Chapter 141 What are you talking about?

Cedric spoke as though he had solved a difficult business problem, as if their marriage was just another deal to be managed.

"If that’s the issue... then I can fix it."

Her brows drew together.

Fix... what?

Cedric took another step toward her. His blue eyes settled on her face, studying her expression.

"I may never love you the way I love Jessica." He said it honestly, without shame. "I won’t pretend otherwise. I won’t lie to you about that."

She felt the words sink in, heavy and cold.

"But... I can still fulfill my responsibilities as your husband."

His gaze slowly drifted to her lips before returning to her eyes.

"I can give you emotional support. I can be there when you need someone. And..." He hesitated only briefly. "...I can fulfill your physical needs too."

Daisy’s eyes widened so much that she forgot to breathe.

What...?

Her face filled with shock. She immediately raised both hands.

What are you talking about?

Cedric misunderstood her expression.

"I know it sounds sudden. But I’ve thought about it carefully. If your needs are being ignored, then it’s my responsibility to address them. You don’t have to seek comfort from another man." He paused, his gaze steady. "You don’t have to look at him the way you do."

He stepped closer again.

Only a small distance remained between them.

Daisy instinctively took a step back. Her heartbeat became uneven. She wasn’t blushing. She was stunned. Completely stunned.

Cedric lowered his voice, his tone becoming softer, more husky.

"So... don’t expect my love."

His eyes remained fixed on her pink lips, lingering there for a moment longer than necessary.

"But everything else... I can give you."

Daisy looked at him as though he had suddenly become a stranger. Her mind raced, trying to process what he had just said. He was offering her everything except the one thing she had always wanted from him. He was willing to give her his time, his attention, his body but not his heart.

She had prepared herself for an argument, for misunderstandings, even for accusations. But this... this was the last thing she had expected him to say.

She opened her mouth, but no words came out. She was completely frozen.

"I know this is sudden." Cedric’s voice had softened.

Before Daisy could react, he reached out and gently cupped her face with one hand. His palm was warm against her cool skin. Her breath hitched.

She froze.

His thumb brushed lightly beneath her eye before moving away, trailing a soft path along her cheekbone. "I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday."

His blue eyes remained fixed on hers, searching her face for any sign of response.

"That’s why I asked you to come to my room tonight."

As he spoke, his other hand absentmindedly picked up a loose strand of her hair. The silky strands slipped between his fingers. He had never noticed before how soft her hair was. He slowly twirled the lock around his finger while studying her face with an expression that was almost... curious.

"So... I think we should try acting like a normal married couple."

Daisy’s pupils trembled.

For a second, she genuinely wondered if she had misunderstood him. Her mind replayed his words, trying to find a different meaning, a different interpretation. But there was none.

Then, without warning, she pushed him.

It wasn’t hard but it was firm enough to make Cedric take a step backward. His hand slipped away from her face. The strand of hair fell back onto her shoulder.

Daisy stared at him with wide eyes. Her breathing had become uneven. Her hands trembled at her sides.

She quickly raised both hands. Her gestures were much sharper than usual, filled with frustration and disbelief.

Are... you... crazy?!

Her movements were so forceful that even someone who knew almost no sign language could tell she was angry. Her fingers practically flew through the air.

Cedric blinked.

"...What?"

She gestured again, this time even faster, her signs sharp and cutting.

Yesterday you were with Jessica! Today you’re saying this! Have you lost your mind?

Although he couldn’t understand every sign, he understood one thing perfectly.

She was furious.

Actually, he had expected her to become shy and throw herself at him. He had expected gratitude, relief, maybe even tears of joy. He had not expected this.

Cedric stared at her.

His brows slowly drew together.

It was the first time. The first time he had ever seen Daisy look at him like that.

Her beautiful dark eyes, which usually held timidity, nervousness, or sadness, were now burning with indignation. She wasn’t even avoiding his gaze and lowering her head. She was glaring directly at him.

Her cheeks had turned pink from frustration. Her brows were tightly knitted together. Even her lips were pressed into a thin line.

For some strange reason, Cedric couldn’t look away.

He had always thought Daisy looked delicate and fragile. Someone who would silently endure everything. But this version of her, this fiery, expressive woman standing in front of him, felt unexpectedly captivating.

A corner of his lips almost lifted before he stopped himself.

"...You’re angry."

Daisy glared at him as if the statement itself was ridiculous.

She pointed at him. Then at herself. Then mimicked someone kissing another person before pointing toward the door.

Jessica.

After that, she pointed back at herself and waved both hands violently.

And now you’re saying this to me?

Cedric watched her gestures carefully. He only caught fragments but he understood enough.

His expression became thoughtful.

"So... you don’t like what I said?"

Daisy looked at him in complete disbelief.

She threw both hands into the air.

That’s not the point!

She wanted to scream. She wanted to shake him. She wanted to make him understand how impossible he was being.

If only she had a voice.

Instead, she pointed at him again before making another series of quick gestures.

You love Jessica. I know that. You told me that yourself. So why are you suddenly talking about being husband and wife?

Cedric fell silent.

Daisy stared at him for another long second. He didn’t answer. He just stood there, his expression unreadable.

This man was completely impossible.

She took a deep breath, then shot him one last glare. The look was so sharp that even Cedric unconsciously straightened.

She didn’t sign another word. She turned around abruptly and marched toward the door.

"Daisy."

Cedric called her name.

She didn’t stop.

"Daisy."

Still no response.

She reached the door, grabbed the handle, and pulled it open.

Just before stepping outside, she turned her head and glared at him one last time. Her beautiful eyes were burning with anger.

Then she raised one hand and made a tiny circular motion beside her temple.

You’re crazy.

Before Cedric could react, she walked out and slammed the door behind her.

Bang!

Silence filled the room.

Cedric stood there, blinking at the closed door.

"..."

He had never, ever, seen Daisy lose her temper.

For some reason, the image of her glaring at him refused to leave his mind.
