Chapter 456 - 455: The Other Side of the Story

Chapter 456: Chapter 455: The Other Side of the Story

"Didn’t you just say you remember which way I went? The road is different now, we must be lost. This isn’t the way we came in."

Nathan Foster shook his head, disagreeing with South Grant’s words.

"I’m certain this is the way we came in, but the cacti are in the wrong positions," Nathan confirmed.

South Grant sneered disapprovingly, "Do you think these cacti can move on their own?"

"It’s possible."

When Nathan said ’it’s possible,’ his voice was so deep that it sent chills down South Grant’s spine, giving her goosebumps.

She couldn’t help but recall the legend Nathan mentioned. Could it be true that these cacti were really given life and soul by that princess? Carrying her grudge to seek revenge on humanity?

Looking at the cacti around her, South Grant no longer felt the excitement and fondness she had when she first arrived; instead, she sensed a spooky and terrifying atmosphere. She muttered under her breath:

"Your Highness, there’s a link between cause and effect, take it out on the right person... No, I mean, if you want revenge, go after that jerk. I fully support you in tearing that jerk to pieces. I have righteous values and a good attitude, I’m your loyal fan, so please don’t scare me..."

As South muttered, she heard a chuckle from the person beside her.

"What are you laughing at?" She glared at Nathan irritably, "It’s all your fault for insisting on going forward. Now look, we’re stuck here and can’t get out, destined to be a tragic couple."

Nathan laughed, pulling her to his side, "We can still be a couple, just not a tragic one. Once outside, we’ll turn into a carefree pair of lovebirds playing in the water."

With that, Nathan took something out of his pocket and tossed it under a cactus, then continued to lead South Grant forward.

Watching his actions, South realized he was marking their path, ensuring they wouldn’t go in circles here again.

Then she remembered that someone like Nathan, trained in special ways, wouldn’t get lost in even the densest jungles. How could a few cacti pose a challenge to him?

Soon, Nathan led South out of the maze and found the way they had come in.

He guided her out, and when they saw the car parked nearby, South was so relieved she nearly cried. She really thought she’d get lost and trapped among those cacti.

Sitting in the car, South patted her chest and told Nathan:

"Turns out I’m not cut out for adventures. I was almost scared to death just now."

Just then, Nathan stood beside the car, gazing at The Cactus Forest, while South leaned against the window, watching Nathan.

After he snapped out of it, South brought up the earlier topic again.

"Uncle, are you hiding something from me?"

It was obvious; Nathan’s discovery of The Cactus Forest wasn’t as coincidental as he claimed. South suspected he knew about it long ago.

Nathan got into the car and sat in the driver’s seat, leaning back and turning to look at her.

"There’s another version of the legend. Do you want to hear it?"

South’s spirit perked up; she knew things weren’t that simple.

"Of course."

Nathan glanced at The Cactus Forest outside the car window, his voice low and steady as he said:

"The legend I mentioned earlier is the one passed down through generations here. But there’s another version, one very few people know."
